I like a lot of what you say, Bob, but this is where I have to disagree. #1, the Bill of Rights protects freedom of speech, which includes the use of other languages. #2, it protects the freedom of press, which also includes other languages. The only documents that are required to be printed in English are legal documents, and even they are allowed to be republished in English. It would be wrong if they were required to publish other language, but NFL chose to do that.

I like a lot of what you say, Bob, but this is where I have to disagree. #1, the Bill of Rights protects freedom of speech, which includes the use of other languages. #2, it protects the freedom of press, which also includes other languages. The only documents that are required to be printed in English are legal documents, and even they are allowed to be republished in English. It would be wrong if they were required to publish other language, but NFL chose to do that.

We're not fighting foreign wars to "protect this country". If that was the case, all the soldiers wouldn't be thousands of miles away.
There's people in this country whose native language is spanish, and they watch football too. Puerto Rico is a US territory, and many of the people who live in major cities on the east coast are from puerto rico. It's called reaching a larger audience. If you move to Paris, the only phrase you'd learn in French is "do you speak english", but here, it's not ok?

Yes Bob. It is the primary language. So what? 500 years ago there was NO English in 'America'. 350 years ago French and Spanish were more widely spoken than English in America. German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese? Who cares? All of these languages have been spoken at various points by large communities in America. Who cares? Why does it bother you so much, Bob?

@LOLinFEVER You are right, i made an assumption without checking the facts so I did some research: The per capita income for a US citizen in 2009 was roughly $33,070 per person whereas the per capita income for a Mexican citizen was only $5,178 (converted to US dollars and adjusted for cost of living). This would lead me to believe that Mexico is in fact poor. In addition, you cant drink water in Mexico because it will make you sick, which is shitty. So shitty poor is a valid description.

@mpbalint yaa, and you forgot to mention that life in the US is way more expensive.
A Teacher in the US gets paid around 3000-4000 a month, whereas a teacher in Mexico gets around 250-400$ a month. Both salaries, in their respective countries, serve as enough or roughly enough to survive.
In my country, El Salvador, teachers earn around 400$

Also, you can't generalize and say all people enjoy Mexico over the US anytime thats just ignorant. Further, I have been to Cancun, Mexico for spring break in 2008 and I agree it is a great place. However, it is an Americanized tourist version of Mexico which substantially differs from the majority of the country which is a shit hole.

@Audiolaboratory Thirdly, yes, if you had been placed on the continent of America 200 years ago with the same technology as Europeans 3000 years ago, it would have been an impressive feat to have come to dominate the world. In the REAL world of history, however, America is a European success story, of European colonisers exploiting the vast resources of a vast continent, with little in the way of serious rivalry. Impressive still, but America is a European success story.
