There are extremists on both sides. Peace will be possible when the moderates on both sides will be stronger the the radical. And Finkelstein is as much a radical as someone like Avigdor Lieberman. Finkelstein may be a brilliant political scientist, he thinks with passion and doesn't hesitate to advocate violence. There is a lot of hatred in him. Gandhi's non-violent protest is just not his thing.

If the Arabs of Palestine would have listen to Ghandi in the 1930s instead of Amin Al-Husseini, if they would have followed the teachings of Martin Luther King instead of Arafat in the 1970s, they would have been settled in their own state next to Israel and in peace with it.

Of course there are extremists and hard-liners in Israel, but no more no less than enywhere else. But the thruth is that the continuous use of violence is the only reason why Palestinians don't have their own state.

Of course I realize that. Israel has its settlers and right wingers believing that the whole of Palestine belongs to them. In fact the conflict is not between Israelis and Palestinians, not even between Muslim and Jews. It is between extremists on both sides and the moderates, who desire a peacefull life.
