  • .....beautiful work!!

  • Very nice....

  • Y U NO POST TABS

  • Can you please please please tab this? Anyone?

  • Love it! Can this be transcribed to a standard Mando??

  • @hamsteak7 It's all the same. Except that everything will sound an octave higher.

  • agreed about Jansch

  • It's really "Blackwater Side" arranged by Bert Jansch. Page changed the timing and tuning but it is pretty much Jansch's vision of the traditional Irish song.

  • Are all your paired strings in unison or are any octaves? I've heard some octave mandolins will have the lowest pair with an octave apart. Also, do your gauges vary between any given pair? Great cover of the mighty Page and thanks for sharing!

  • MY DAD?

  • I really appreciate your Zep covers ect.

I'm a polished guitarist and bassist and was planning on

buying a cheap mandy to learn quite a few of the parts for Zep songs.

Is there a big transition between the two that will need a diff mind set for playing?

Or is it similar to violin tuning, which I am somewhat knowledge able with.

  • @Iplaybassnaked21

The mandolin is in the same family as the violin. In fact, if you pick a song on a violin, it will sound more or less the same as if you were picking it on a mandolin. Generally speaking, it has the same tuning as a violin (GDAE).

  • pleasepleaseplease tabs

  • ACDC?

  • what's the difference between an Octave Mandolin and just a normal Mandolin?

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses An octave mandolin is tuned an octave lower than the mandolin -- GDAE. Evidently its tuned here in ADAD. The octave mandolin generally has a longer scale length of upwards of 20 inches, mandolins having scales of roughly 10 inches

  • @RatherCrunchyMuffin oh okay cool. so it's like what a bass is to a guitar. sweet as!

  • Are your G and C strings paired in Unison strings or Octaves?

  • Are your G and C strings paired in Unisons or Octaves?

  • that was insane dude! do you play guitar as well?

  • Ive just finished building a mandolin after being inspired by jims playing, now im going to have to build an octave aswell. all this inspiration is sending me broke.

  • im diggin the overalls

  • Fantastic!!

  • Holy smokes, Jim. That's great. I've been after this for mandolin, but sounds like it was made for octave. Good show.

  • Outstanding

  • Another great version of Davey Graham's "She moved thru the Bizarre".

Thank's Page for bringing this great song to light.

  • Bert Jansch - Black Waterside... both were influenced heavily by Graham though... R.I.P. Davey!

  • Good job BTW.

  • I might have to break down and by me one of these octiv-mandos

  • What a great sound for that song. Bert Jansch would be proud!!!!

    On to "Ramble On"!!!!

  • All Hail Octavius!
