I don't exactly know what constitutes "metal look" these days, but it's certainly not long barber-unfriendly hair like what we had in the 70s, 80s and 90s. It can't be that bad exploring strange new looks for metal, especially considering the fact that there is not much ordinary and normal about the music genre itself.
