i knew it! lol....but uhh...is this still a goodpc....because i might be picking one up for 75 bucks (canadian)..i dont no if its worth it...u think its worth it? cuz im still using a pentium 3...getting alittle anoying
Depends on what you're using it for I guess. I use mine for watching movies primarily. The keyboard is too small if you have to type much every day. 75 is not much though, fine price.
Also it's a Celeron processor which runs 900 MHz, so don't expect too much of this. 512 MB RAM which you can replace by 1 GB which I also done. And Intel Graphics, so no heavy gaming hehe. I got Warcraft 3 and Half-Life 1 to work good though. But no heavier games.
Oh and people should also check out Puppy Linux, I'm running that on the PC in this video now, and its fast as lightning lol... since it uses your RAM to run the whole OS in.
Webbrowser, mediaplayer, etc etc all are in the package, 70 mb .iso file.
How do u set up da desktop cd drive to da laptop...i got all of dat stuff da u used to hook it up...i jst wana kno how...? i can send u a video of the set up i have...i have ide sata to usb wit a power adapter
You need to buy a USB to IDE (flat cable for CD drive) so you can hook it up like in the video. Or you can use a USB CD drive if you have that. That cable can sometimes be handy if you have a PC without a CD drive somewhere you need to format/install :)
youll need an IDE CD-rom drive, and an USB-to-IDE cable. googlt those. if you have an older computer that you dont use anymore, it most likley has one in it.
Where do I get all this stuff!? I'm using my Eee PC Laptop now but it dosen't make any sense! My parents are wondering wherether to take it to somewhere like PC World to get it working but would be worried about the cost. So we're not sure whether to get all this stuff or just bring it to a PC Specialist. GIMME A HAND!!!
The installation process seems to be messy because of the wires but i see that it is really fun. I wanna try that kind of installation because i want to deal with some complicated things like that.
my asus eee will not boot from usb. I haw installed xp 3 times but it wont work. Now when i start the comp it shows the asus screen but then nothing happens. What can i do???? Please help
i really stuffed up, im not sure what happend but, i installed xp and now it wont boot, even in safe mode. Then i try to reinstall xp and it comes up with a message that basically says
check to be sure that you have adequate space
Can i reformat or wipe the ssd? (its a 701 4g). Thanks
i have an asus eee pc with 512mb ram and 2gb hd, can i install xp on it? i actually bought the eee for word documents only and i need to hook up a printer on it. since it came with a linux os i am having a hard time finding a compatible printer. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
2GB isn't enough to run XP. And 512MB RAM?!? Asus just rip you off. Plus, what kind of printer are you trying to use? There's always a way of getting a seemingly windows-only printer to work in linux, they just say windows-only so Micro$oft can rip you off.
Yes mate. Just download nLite for free (google it). It trims down the install and is easy to figure out. Then just follow the guides online using BartPE etc.. to make a USB Stick bootable and install from there. Be sure to remove unused languages etc...
Yes. SD Cards can be used. They're the same thing as a memory stick really. Can't be much more help though. I got rid of this thing ages ago. Not worth the money.
No, because I have a EEE 700, it only has a 4 GB SSD drive. Vista won't fit on it unless you manually remove ALOT of stuff using the program vLite (for customizing the Vista DVD).
If you have a larger drive it's no problem though. Should work the same way as in the video.
Thank you for this video, it answered my questions about installing XP without having a device built in the laptop... how much does this adapter cost?
I have an external CD/DVD USB drive, can i install Windows XP without any extra hacks, just like on a normal PC. It's the Linux version of the eee pc i'm thinking of.
Hi, nice vid, i have a question. does asus eee pc show any kind of internal or external dvd when you press esc and don't you need to press F2 and fix things????
It only shows my IDE drive when it's connected (to USB) and when I press ESC. Don't need to do anything else or don't need to go into the BIOS at any stage.
uhh..i have a 4GB SSD in my eee pc...can i install xp?

how did you do it please?

This video is as useful as a fly screen door on a submarine, or an ash tray on a motorbike.
I expected to learn how to do it.
Billmelbourne 3 years ago
Click "more info", everything you need to know is there. Just get a cable like that and press ESC during the boot.
This is about an installation with such a cable, not about procedures on how to install via a bootable USB stick :)

You can buy that adapter on ebay for $28 Australian including postage.

Hey, I bought the Windows XP version, so I never had the chance to try the Linux (Xandros) version of the Eee PC.
I heard that you can download it though. And after you've written it to a CD the installation is done quite like in this video :)
