Yes the camera caught the false shuffle but the producers shouldn't have left it in - not fair really. It would be pretty impossible to do any trick if there's a camera covering every angle. Imagine sleight of hand with a camera looking from the magicians point of view as opposed to the audience's point of view.

@hardandflatout It's all a prearranged deck. At 1:16 to 1:17 he executes the pull through false shuffle, it doesn't alter the deck at all. When she cuts it doesn't alter the running order and he restores the deck with another cut using a locator card.

performed once, in front of you, the shuffles, cuts etc are done quickly. That is the problem with you tube, it allows people to watch videos over and over again looking for the methods. All the smart arses who are pointing out false shuffles and cuts are not magicians, just people who want to spoil magic to the layman. @13kingz13 hey, depending on how much you really want it i can tell you how to get it.... get a deck of blank cards, im a magician so i usually have some sitting somewhere, but if you dont you can get them at any magic supply shop, just look it up. anyway open a program on the computer and set up a template for business cards. set up your font so that what you are typing will fit inside a playing card. print it on a sheet of paper. tape the blank card over where it prints and print again.
the trick to it is every cut he makes he just puts the same cards back on the top...if you look in the beginning when he shows all the cards...the last 5 cards are 2,3,4,5,6 of spades...and if u watch him move the cards he just places them on top of each other so the deck doesn't get messed up..look at 1:11 when he shuffles

The cuts are easy too, just bend the corner of the 6 of Spades a little bit, then no matter where you cut it, you can cut back to that card. Just keep that corner hidden in your hand.
if the cards are in a certain order so long as you cut them an even number of time they will still be in order. maybe starts from a different card. hence the fake shuffle.
he's probably put it in an order and worked out when to cut once.
try it. put the deck in order and cut 100 time, not 99, and it'll be in order.
WARNING, SPOILER! but check the initial "this is just a regular deck of cards"... you'll see the cards laid out in exactly the order he tells the story. he uses flashy "false cuts" to keep the order the exact same without the viewer noticing, and he proceeds to tell the story :) great trick to learn if you want to amaze people (unfortunately my name isn't james...)
@AsianAvocado yeah. if you look at the cuts/shuffles he does you can see they are false, but I still can't figure out how he gets her to cut them and they are still in his order. maybe marked cards or something?...maybe...but after her final cut towards the end he doesn't re-cut/re-shuffle them at all...so how does he insure that the cards are in his order after a stranger has cut them? ...hmm
@300Spartan03 final cut (storyline: poker game) near the end she cuts them and he doesn't recut. now I suppose he could have gotten super lucky considering there was only maybe 10-20 cards left but he does this trick a lot...how does he do that? =D

Epic, whats great about it is the last cut, she cut it right on his break, it's brilliant when that works out.
Cause when the person doesn't you have to cut the deck once more yourself, and it looks a little odd.
Love this trick, obviously it's been around for a loong time with other stories ect, but I like 673 King.

@hardandflatout It's all a prearranged deck. At 1:16 to 1:17 he executes the pull through false shuffle, it doesn't alter the deck at all. When she cuts it doesn't alter the running order and he restores the deck with another cut using a locator card.

So its very similar to Bill Malone's "Sam the Bellhop" however I'm not going to go around saying "so and so" stole it from "so and so" because the trick has been around forever. The difference lies in the technical manipulations that create the ILLUSION of the trick. to all those saying stuff about false shuffles and cuts, yes they are! but you must have the appreciation for the skill it takes to master. could he of done better? maybe..... could you? unless your Ed Ellis, probably not.

performed once, in front of you, the shuffles, cuts etc are done quickly. That is the problem with you tube, it allows people to watch videos over and over again looking for the methods. All the smart arses who are pointing out false shuffles and cuts are not magicians, just people who want to spoil magic to the layman. They cannot perform the card manipulations themselves but think it would be clever to point out cuts and shuffles as though they are experts instead of the twats they really are.

Nearly every single "trick" (illusion) Houdini did was fake... but that's the point, its meant to give the "illusion" that it's real.. that's the very core of magic!

All magicians use tricks of the eye and hands to achieve their illusions, some also use camera tricks like Criss Angel's "Mindfreak"

@13kingz13 hey, depending on how much you really want it i can tell you how to get it.... get a deck of blank cards, im a magician so i usually have some sitting somewhere, but if you dont you can get them at any magic supply shop, just look it up. anyway open a program on the computer and set up a template for business cards. set up your font so that what you are typing will fit inside a playing card. print it on a sheet of paper. tape the blank card over where it prints and print again.

the trick to it is every cut he makes he just puts the same cards back on the top...if you look in the beginning when he shows all the cards...the last 5 cards are 2,3,4,5,6 of spades...and if u watch him move the cards he just places them on top of each other so the deck doesn't get messed up..look at 1:11 when he shuffles

The cuts are easy too, just bend the corner of the 6 of Spades a little bit, then no matter where you cut it, you can cut back to that card. Just keep that corner hidden in your hand.

its maths.
if the cards are in a certain order so long as you cut them an even number of time they will still be in order. maybe starts from a different card. hence the fake shuffle.
he's probably put it in an order and worked out when to cut once.
try it. put the deck in order and cut 100 time, not 99, and it'll be in order.

WARNING, SPOILER! but check the initial "this is just a regular deck of cards"... you'll see the cards laid out in exactly the order he tells the story. he uses flashy "false cuts" to keep the order the exact same without the viewer noticing, and he proceeds to tell the story :) great trick to learn if you want to amaze people (unfortunately my name isn't james...)

@AsianAvocado yeah. if you look at the cuts/shuffles he does you can see they are false, but I still can't figure out how he gets her to cut them and they are still in his order. maybe marked cards or something?...maybe...but after her final cut towards the end he doesn't re-cut/re-shuffle them at all...so how does he insure that the cards are in his order after a stranger has cut them? ...hmm
