Could you please guide me into a stable spot with the Axe fx ultra. I can't dial in presets on this thing to save my life and there is not much info on the web. I'd love to achieve these tones.
@imrhyswatson: Nice! I really want to have this gig, as I am hong kong guy who wrote few songs thru miking amps. But I realize it is possible to record DI. You know, HK is a commercial city, not much band can survive, and very hard to find someone who like metal music. I really envy you guys in United States. Let me know if you did some cool staffs.
Hi there, awesome sound and good tones. Did you record this music directly into garageband ? Can you change the tones of what you recorded by using axe?? I mean what you recorded was a original tone of guitar or a mix already touched by AXE?
@GaryLeeKaHo i know you can do that with the axe fx2, it has a dry channel, not sure if the ultra does thoough, i'll find out tomorrow when i get mine :D
Dude this is fucking sweet! I love the rhytyhm and the lead, clean tone entrances me. Is this a full song, or did you just develop this little sample? I'm curious to hear more. Peace!
hey good sound man! i have an axe too and i i'm asking if you recommend the sup drummer 2.0 with metal fondry, i have already EZdrummer with DKFH expansion and i asking you if you haved tryed them too and if its necesery too spend big money to upgrade for sup 2.0 or not?... tanks dude and continue your work! that's amazing!
@Xerox707 I don't unfortunately. I made this while ago when i first got an axe fx and superior drummer 2.0/metal foundry. I might make it into a full song eventually tho. Thanks for commenting.
@Gorbs413 i sense a lot of sarcasm. im not saying my tone is amazing. i think it would be 10x better with an axe fx. obviously you don't know how to use it.
@slash5155 No need to be a dick about it. That's like going up to someone's who new to guitar and telling them they're shit - it's a prick thing to do and will only put them off. You should encourage people. If his tone is lacking then with time he'll find a way to better it. Seriously man, if you go through life just putting people down then you're an absolute cock.
@slash5155 Your sarcasm detector is working flawlessly. Congratulations. The first step is accepting that your tone "isn't amazing". @yeahitsmurphy I just plug the output on the axe fx into the input on my Duet. And the Duet plugs into my computer with a firewire cable. That's pretty much it.
@Laihoistheman are you out of your mind! SSdrums are so one sided. They sound great out of the box but when you change them at all they sound like S*@#%T. Im not saying one is better then the other but you clearly have not used Stevens drums.
@bt052681 nah SSD is kinda shitty outside of the box not boom-y enough or loud enough, i just used a Maximizer and a touch of reverb and it sounds great. doesn't fit as well into a metal mix but still sounds awesome, plus SSD is way more compatible with my e-drums, superior has terrible velocity problems, not saying this doesn't sound awesome but its a huge program and quite expansive and require a lot of fiddling to not make it sound so plastic-y.
@Laihoistheman hmmm do you have any clips? Id love to hear what your talking about??? Velocity problems.......yeaaa thats why every video on youtube has a guy using roland kit and superior??? Its funny cause I listen to Animals as leaders those drums sound pretty good, taylor swift....pretty good again, periphery they sound great, guitar hero, dethklok. I'm still trying to find out who used SSD? just saying.......
@bt052681 not everyone ha a roland kit, all brains behave differently, they are made by different manufacturers and the information is different, kind of like Addictive, the drum map is quite a bit different than most other drums maps. and SSD is quite new so it hasn't been used on much but the samples used for it have been around for a long time and are used on tons of albums, they have quite a few big name producers on the page that have said they have been using his sample CD's for years.
@bt052681 i haven't had time to do any proper recording because my studio isin't complete yet and i still have a lot to learn, but when my friend comes up from mass we do covers of songs on my main soundclick page everything before "It's Hard to Speak Without a Tongue was done with Superior and I'ts hard to speak was done with SSD, besides a few volume problems it's the best mix i have got with it yet.
wow i would post a link to my soundclick but youtube wont let me.
Hey. Very nice sound. Could you tell me wich drumsound settings you've made in superior drummer? I've also got the superior drummer 2.0 and The Metal Foundry. I'm trying to get a real nice metal sound, but its very hard.
Just tell me wich drums you've selected (Kick, Snare, and so on) and what effects you are using at the similar drums. Thnx ;-)
what are you fools talking about??? Superior drummer BEATS down addictive drums (although they are both good) Also, extremely sick song man. It got me inspired.
Every drums from Toontrack, you can say with your eyes closed, that's Ezdrummer or Superior drummer, Idon't like at all Toontrack drums software, Addictive has much natural and realistic warm sound than Superior, I have both and I always use Addictive.
I would have to agree with you that the presets in Superior are not very natural sounding. When I made this video, I didn't tweak anything in the mixer, besides maybe some volumes. But I think if you really work with the program, you can tweak everything to sound much more natural. I'm just not very good at it yet.
@ohmygooooood man honestly, you have to be a good producer to produce drums...addictive drums is basically cheating. Superior 2.0 samples were recorded and mastered by professionals....thats how a drum set would spound if it was miced. It takes a really good engineer to take those samples and make them into gold. Im not critisizing your abilities, just dont knock something thats amazing you just dont want to put effort into making it sound really good. My best example: periphery
Thanks man. It was actually just myself that made this recording. I don't have a band or anything. And the bass is there, but it's kinda low. I was still getting used to mixing when I made this. I recorded guitar direct into the Axe-Fx Ultra.
Was this done by you programming a midi file or were you playing this on electronic drums? I can't find ANYWHERE how to make my own midi files on this thing...
I had to individually write the midi notes in garageband. It takes a while but its better than playing it on a keyboard. U can start of by using a pre-made groove and then add ur own midi notes to it.

I'm in need of good settings for a tight kickdrum (Meshuggah style sound) in SH2.0, any tips?
