  • it's easy to entrust your finances to someone who pretend to be a financial planner so it's crucial to find one who is trusted.

  • @airana79 Absolutely correct; however, it is important to note that many of the very best financial planners and advisors do not possess the CFP designation. In fact, many have no designations at all.

  • @rcdrury1 If they don't have a CFP(r), they don't have a commitment to their industry or their clients. They are simply a sales person selling products.

  • sounds like someone's trying to sell life insurance.

  • I want to be a financial planner.. i just dont know where to start. Should i goto a university or will a 2 year college do?

  • The best thing to do is to go to the CFP(R)website...(This comment section won't allow me to put the website for some reason-do a search or google and it should take you there) It should give a listing of schools that provide the coursework to sit for the designation. Regardless, get the school work done and focus on getting the designation. Good Luck!

  • If you would like to get started prior to completing your cfp i suggest you check out the book entitled "Getting started as a financial planner" by Jeffrey H. Rattiner

  • Certain universities have CFP board-registered curriculum programs that prepare you to sit for the CFP designation upon graduation...if you don't graduate from a program such as this, you are required to have about 3 years experience before obtaining the CFP. I personally did this through Virginia Tech's financial management program.

  • you still need three years experience in addition to a 4 year degree from an accredited university before you can get your CFP credential.

  • @eddiea6987

You need a bachelors degree so go to a 4 year university that has a CFP approved program!

  • this video is very true, everyone out there have to start working with professionals rather than sales people who try to sell you securities
