Cedar fest has nothing to do with any game they use to do this block party every year and this is when the had it again after not doing for a long period of time. But the cops 100% prevoked us into rioting they showed up in riot gear before it even got out of control what do you thinks going to happen showing up in riot gear with 3,000+ drunk kids lol.

yes I beleive that these riots occur because of the massive police pileup. Whenever there is a potential of a large student gathering, they enlist all these fucking cops from everywhere, and they PAY THEM ALL OVERTIME. Its special monies to officer during a time like this. Don't you think if we got all these cops, paid and riled up that we would see something. The cops are asking the students to riot, and they always comply. Fucking cops in EL.

I went to MSU 20 years ago, and Cedar Fest was a problem back then, too. Most of the troublemakers came from off campus, though.

What people dont realize is the old cedar fest actualy gave students entertainment. Bands would somtimes play and it kept kids occupied, but after people got crazy they banned it. Now they bring it back, but just say "Yeah Cedarfest 08 be there!" without any plan to occupy 3,000 kids. MSU students are NOT stupid, but when you mix all the factors that took place, it can olny be negative. That one kid in the video was 16! Please don't think this is how State is. I am embarrassed and sorry.

Actually they are revolting for a reason.. a perfectly good reason.. the elitist Gestapo police departments that exist in East Lansing.. lets see.. we have ELPD, MSU PD, Michigan State Police, and Ingham County.. did I leave anyone out?.. Oh yeah.. sometimes Meridian gets involved.. that leaves East Lansing as one of the towns with the highest cops per capita in the Nation.. too much order is bound to bring chaos.. without a little rioting now and then, there would be no release.. and no balance

Yes, I am certain that must have been the reason. The alcohol induced destruction and girl-on-girl action was to teach the police a lesson. That seems like intelligent expression; I'm sure they really got their point across.

Yes, some police organizations are corrupt - that's with any bureaucracy though. The cops were their to protect drunken people from hurting themselves and others. Nobody's rights were being infringed upon; there was no excuse to riot.

For those who want to hate on MSU for this: Look at the numbers, around 50 people arrested, but only about half of them were MSU students. There were roughly 4000 people there, but MSU has about 45,000. This is not an accurate representation of the student body, nor the city of East Lansing. Furthermore, most everyone there was peaceable and having a good time until much later in the night when a handful of people acted stupidly.
