Try making it bottom heavy by making a bit more vertical design and put the brain at the bottom. This will create a low center of gravity and prevent wobbling.
I have two lego trains running through my apartment, and I try to use them for fetching mail or dropping something onto them from the kitchen so I don't have to carry anything back to my bedroom. The only problem is that its cars aren't big enough for certain objects, such as plates, but if I make it bigger it would become unbalanced. Any suggestions?
Nice idea! I haven't acually considered using cables. At the moment it runs on a standard 'purist' lego track, and if I manage to suspend it at some point using a Mindstorm kit and strong cable attatched to the same power switch as the Lego track, it just might be able to make it to my bedroom. :) Better start working on it.
put some rolling supports on each side of the cart even if you only have a few inches of clearance on each side, it is much better than just having the railroad wheels.
Nice Job building this. I am very impressed. I work at Freightliner as an Engineer and what you built there is more impressive than what I do at work all day.
its slow and it was noisy it had no passengers and also i perfer attaching the car to the string and the string moves it along i guess if you have access to robots you use the robotsso i see why you didnt use that idea
Loved the little sister who says "smile". Can you redo the video - with clearer dialog? It's hard to catch what D says about his tram. ...Great inventiveness!
Great work David! Now if you can design an emergency escape mechanisim, you'll be one-up on the designers of the Portland tram! Keep building; your imagination will take you anywhere you want to go!

we're doing this exact same thing in robotics class. does anyone know where we can get instructions to build a simple light cable car?

you should use a more strong cable or double cable
