  • very good instruction! ola'senor primera lutador! bohaaaa

  • A year and a half into JJ training here in Europe. You are a great and enthusiastic coach. Thank you.

  • When I do this sweep

I tend to put my hooking ankle on his ankle instead of behind the knee.

Not that it makes much of a difference

but your sweeping your opponent from both his legs, not just one.

    Good stuff nonetheless.

  • I practice no-gi jiu jitsu (often called "freestyle" but it's nothing more than glorified BJJ without the gi). I found that this sweep rarely, if ever works, without the gi, or, at least, a sleeve to hold on to. Is there any way to do this move without the sleeve to fit a more "no gi" type style of fighting?

  • Grab the wrist when there is no gi.

  • ..the problem for me with hooking the ankle instead of behind the knee (especially in your own school when you have guys you roll with everyday and see your moves every day) is that it is easy to step over and sometimes prevent the sweep if the guy has good balance, base, or speed.
