I agree with you 110%. The Democrats will never get rid of these bad laws. They have no interest in that. We need to vote for people who want smaller government as their main objective. The only party that supports getting out of Iraq, giving our privacy back, and scraping the "Patriot" Act is the Libertarian Party.
thats why the war likely wont end, just so they never have to worry about those issues. i think they will do just enough to make it seem like they did would they could and the just try to save themselves. the war is going to be an issue even if they make some plan and"win it", so why fight 2 battles ( one the wa and the other the privacy laws) when you dont have to. you might say they have to but do they?
