  • good day gentlemen ...may i ask what turbo you guys are using on this car????....i'm going to do the same swap but in an E36 shell and i also would like some help finding a good drive shaft to handle the power.....

  • Believe me I've been in the "automotive industry" longer than you. I know that the 2JZ is a very good motor and is capable of producing monumental HP and TQ. However the engine is only suitable in a Supra or swap were the car is not overweight. The reason being is for daily driving or even track use LOW DOWN torque is extremely import. I've driven enough cars to know heavy cars need torque. As a track car it's not important since you keep the RPMs high but if its a daily in ruins the point.

    why would a tuner swap a 2jz in a car if he doesn't have to.

  • Never hated, it's just that the 2JZ is a capable motor but not for that car, it's just wrong. Heavy luxury with a straight 6 turbo whistling? To each his own but torque is needed when weight is up, plus the iron block 2JZ is actually heavier than the S62 so he made a heavy car heavier. It's not a drag car, the Supra can be but the E39 is a luxury sedan but hey his car his rules. Peace.

  • Now if it's just a hobby project then it's fine but if he really wants to use it as a daily good luck. Even if it's running a T51 at 700-800hp he's not going to have that low down. The 2JZ is a track engine, it does well for track racing and drag but daily driving is bad unless in a light car like the Supra or the swaps they do in the S2ks etc. My E55 produces most of it's torque from 2500 RPM because it's a supercharged V8, for daily it's perfect, no need to over rev and always have it there.

  • Beautiful work, but now your former German V8 supercar sounds like the audio track for Fast and Furious 3. It's kind of like putting an LS6 in a Ferrari.

  • @UberXY sorry but the 2jz is epic compared to the s62, you don't know what you're talking about. plus, maybe you should listen to other videos of this car on the dyno because anyone that says this car doesn't sound AMAZING needs to have their ears checked.
