shetlands are one of the most strongest breeds.

iv'e even heard a guy with 20 years horse experience say "despite there size, shetlands can carry more weight then clydesdale."

i don't find anything wrong with people riding shetlands.. if the shetlands couldn't carry us, they would obviously show us, and come'n , this shetland was galloping with her on it's back! the pony obviously loves getting ridden (:

It doesn't mind which height a person has as long as the weight is okay for the pony - I have 60kg and I sometimes ride a mini shetty. What should I say? It actually doesn't seem as if it has any problems with my weight.

*that* does not make the mass/mass ratio okay though. but it was her choice, i can assure you the pony is fine, it wouldnt have cantered had it not. if this was her main pony though, i would be worried, as the pony shouldnt take that much impact every stride for every day etc etc
