I think he was smoking and its just the smoke rising. He might have a lit one in his hand that you can't see because of the flowers and its possible he put the smoke out before he stands up. Maybe??

Appears to me the movements of the figure behind him are like a curtain in the wind, which don't at all resemble his movements. Another thing Is this would be really hard to recreate in video editing software, and it would be damn near impossible to match exactly. I think this may be as real as it gets.
i always thought that this video was amazing... until I just realized that the faint "ghost" image you see comforting the man is just in fact a double shot of the man delayed by a couple of seconds. notice the movements made by both the man and the "ghost"
