lol it's his buddy steven that he lost, i think we all lost a friend before, but its' the worst whenu see him go, and theres nothing to do. I missed u.
Yeah a lotta people are wondering what this song is supposed to mean. I think it's more fun to have your own interpretation, that's what makes music like this cool.
love the band! that singer has a fantastic voice!
I met this guy yesterday...Steven, amazing guy with a boyfriend...one glance at him, and I knew my life would never be the same...I'm going back home tomorrow...and he just left the couch he was sitting on next to me...
...it was nice meeting him, and quite possibly... ...I might never see him again...
i love the trots! hope they're working on new material. last i heard was that ramesh relocated to berlin in jan '08 and dj'd in ny last month. i guess he's back? he doesn't update his blog anymore:( he's a very beautiful and insightful writer.
@syncronized00 I notice how you left out the ! in Panic's name. I love Panic! at the disco, but yet I hate Panic at the disco. two completely different bands in my opinion.
i dunno to me it sounds like hes singing from the perspective of a girl.............thats just my take on it i have no idea what its actually about, fucking fantastic though!
In the band's documentary, Reaching for the Lasers, they said this song was about Ramesh's time spent in Glasgow for school. It references his studies and his interest in electronic music and dancing ('But I miss reaching for the lasers...classes, school behavior. Sweating the night out of the sky...')
I really don't think this is about a gay love. I got the impression that he was talking about an old best friend who taught him how to have fun and party and etcetera, and now that he's fallen into a regular life again he misses Steven.
Why are you all assuming that he is writing from a girl's perspective? It seems very probably that he could be gay, especially looking at lyrics from other songs. Maybe he's not, but he very well may be.
I always thought that he was singing about his son or something. That's always how it sounded to me. Especially the last part: "Steven I love you. I can't grow past you. I have nothing left to give to you." And the nine months later part. Both make it sound like he's singing about a kid.
NOOOO LOL HE ISNT lol its just like the band the blow the lead singer is a girl and she sand something about a girl too and she isnt a lazbo and so isnt the lead singer in voxtrot he aint gay lol
take me to america please im starving from lack of culture in New Zealand how i wish i could listen to them live with other indie music. Save your selves stay away from nz

does it even matter if hes gay?
voxtrot is 100 times better than you are. so no, i dont believe it does.
StreetyMcStreetSk8er 9 months ago
Before I looked it up, I always saw the song as a song to a dead son. Which is killer sad.
In reality, Ramesh wrote the song about leaving Glasgow and school to rejoin the real world.

I read in a article that they said most of thier lyrics are based off of novels that he reads and less is based on real life. still a cool band.

Who gives a crap if they're gay? Their music is great, and it's not like all their songs have homosexual themes, so people like you shouldn't worry.

Ramesh IS gay. I know. Mitch is my stepsisters boyfriend, I have met all of the band. And, Ramesh's little stage dance makes it pretty obvious.

He might be gaaayy. Oh, wait, I'm sorry, does that scare some of you? It's probably about his kidlet. Who CARES? It's a good song.
Insomiak 3 years ago 4
I'm pretty sure he's talking about his son listen to the first couple lines:
-----
Stephen, I love you, I can't grow past you,
I'm, homesick in spite of the place
that I fostered and styled to raise this child
who keeps me in pitch and in pace
------
