Before I looked it up, I always saw the song as a song to a dead son. Which is killer sad.

In reality, Ramesh wrote the song about leaving Glasgow and school to rejoin the real world.

In the band's documentary, Reaching for the Lasers, they said this song was about Ramesh's time spent in Glasgow for school. It references his studies and his interest in electronic music and dancing ('But I miss reaching for the lasers...classes, school behavior. Sweating the night out of the sky...')
