  • whach the movie in english class dr moris!!

  • I just simply don't know anybody except him, who had a great impact on the people. Imagine how many of us became a lawyer after watching this movie, how many of us were named Atticus, Scout, Jem and even GREGORY after this beautiful man. He was soooo gorgeous, a real gentleman, he is irreplaceable. There will be NO ONE like him, today's "stars" are bullshit. I seriously believe that I was born in the wrong decade.

  • yes, it's his sexy voice..

  • My favorite thing about him is his voice :)

  • I will never forget watching this movie as a young boy. Gregory Peck was powerful in it.

  • mi actor preferido

  • The best movie ever made.

  • When I had to watch the film for my year 10 English class, I had the biggest crush on him, still do xD

  • I'm sorry, I gotta say it, he is HOT!!

  • is he josh peck's granfather?

  • wonderful man

  • What an elegant, sincere thank-you speech without the long-winded or nonsensical stuff we heard today. I echo those who yelled out "Bravo!" In my opinion, best performance ever by any actor in a leading part in any movie ever. Exceptional, just like him.

  • What a man he was. What a gift he gave us. What a sad loss for us all.

    -Bill

  • Back when hollywood was about making great films and not trying to get as much money as possible

  • Im so in love with the movie and book and Atiicus Finch. The only perfect and unspoiled story for me.

  • Shame that he and O'Toole had to be up the same year.

  • I love the book too.

  • He looks great!

  • I hate 2 say this but, u just wait and a remake of this film's coming our way...

  • Back then we had Atticus Finch and T.E. lawrence in one year....now i d be glad if we got one alike in a decade...

  • I remember reading a few years ago that Harper Lee wrote the character of Atticus Finch with Gregory Peck as her model and that she would never have accepted anyone else in the role. So I guess it's true...no one else could have played him.

  • This is my favorite film based on my favorite fiction book - the best novel, ever. Gregory Peck - there was no one quite like him. His voice could've kept the Titantic from sinking :) No one else could've played Atticus Finch. I'm so glad that "To Kill a Mockingbird" is still on many school's reading lists...please keep it there.

  • @907916 This is also my favorite novel as well as film. I teared up while watching this magnificent man receive the Oscar. It is good to know, that Gregory Peck was as good a human being as his character, Atticus Finch. Yes! TKAM should be read by every young person. In age where we have been taught to revere card paper action actors, let us hope more Gregory Peck's stand up to be counted.

  • Who presented that to him? Shes fiiiiine

  • @turkish349 Sophia Loren, you fool.

  • @turkish349

Sophia Loren. As a straight female, I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. :)

  • A gentlemen....his behavior is a lesson to us all men.

  • My girlfriend got to meet him one time...wish I could have been with her.

  • mary badham should've won, too. :(

  • Peter O'Toole FTW!!!!!!

  • He beat the legend peter o toole himself for his best performance for the oscar. That certainly says something about his acting skills.

  • My mom named me Gregory after him!

  • @MisterSunson My parents named me after Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird! :D For years I could never understand why my parents named me that. Now, after watching the movie twice and being almost done reading the book I understand completely why my parents named me after such a beloved character. And hey! Bruce Willis has a daughter named Scout too! :)

  • I would fell like a boss if i even had half his voice.

  • Stephen Colbert's impersonation was spot on!

  • This movie is better than Gone with the wind, and Citizen Kane!

  • love his voice!

  • Absolutely adore Gregory Peck! He was such an amazing actor. Love him in TKAMB (of course) and Cape Fear! The remake was nowhere near as good as the original

  • i know this guy thats related to him

  • My love for Old Hollywood is so deep I can't even explain. The most amazing era of film making ever.

  • @misswings83 i agree, i think film was definitely more appreciated as an art form back then. but the whole racism and discrimination thing back then kinda sucks

  • @chinadollz123 it was accepted back then... its like how we tolerate justin beiber and miley cyrus now... slowly we'll transition to love the shit we don't accept today.

  • wow he's just like Atticus...

  • @cutie3piexoxo Brock Peters, the guy who played Tom Robinson, said at Peck's funeral that Atticus FInch gave Peck the opportunity to play himself. Gregory Peck was an amazing person, every inch exactly like the character he played.

  • great actor i liked him in moby dick also

  • funny how I read & watched To Kill A Mockingbird when I was in grade 10 and it was right before he passed away. Definitley one of my favourite movies and books. the whole cast was amazing.

  • Miss him!

  • peter o toole deserved this oscar

  • @RichardElden Sounds like somebody has a SERIOUS hard-on for Gregory Peck.

  • Más que merecido, brillante actuación del gran Gregory Peck!!

  • @RichardElden excuse me care to explain?

  • Comment removed

  • This man is gorgeous.

  • FUNNY HOW A GUY WHO SEEMS SO NICE WOULD THINK IT IS OK TO CHOP BABIES INTO PIECES

  • @1IIIIIIIIII1 Funny how someone who can type can have no brain

  • @kirkaldystaines WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BRAIN OF A BABY IN AN ABORTION BUTCHER SHOP? GUESS YOU COULD SAY THEY "HAVE NO BRAIN" PROBLY NOT FUNNY THOUGH, AT LEAST NOT TO SOMEONE WITH A HEART AND SOUL

  • @1IIIIIIIIII1 I dont think support for a womans right to procure an abortion is the sum of the man, and doesnt define who he was or what he achieved in the film industry. Watch to kill a mockingbird, its brilliant and he was brilliant . For the anti-government, ultra-conservative and moralistic single-issue folk out there (1lllllllll1?) I guess every person and issue is very black and white and you can proclaim judgement with a single sentence. Which is your right.

  • @kirkaldystaines GEE WIZ

  • @kirkaldystaines WELL I GUESS WE CAN JUST BE GLAD THAT GREGS MOM DIDNT CHOP HIS ASS INTO PEICES THEN

  • @1IIIIIIIIII1 And sad that Timothy McVeighs, Ted Bundys and the Unabombers (etc) moms didnt. PS your caps lock is on

  • @RichardElden True enough, he wasn't the most versatile of actors, but the role of the stoic yet loving Atticus Finch fit him to a "T," and his performance in the film, IMHO, ranks among the finest in cinema history.

  • This movie established a life-long friendship between Gregory Peck and Brock Peters (who gave the eulogy at Peck's funeral).

  • i'm only 15 but the black and white oscars are the best, a much better atmosphere :)

  • brillinat performance. one sad note: robert preston not nominated this same year for 'music man'. i still would vote for peck but it might have made a more formidable list of contenders for best actor. oh well.....

  • now im a truck, you cant belive what your seeing...

  • @MegaCASUALGAMING But I practiced the sound in the shower, *hroo hzzee hroo* Now I'm a robot!

  • He was a strong suppoter of civil rights and donated money to many Black causes. He was liberal.

  • this man is FRESH. this man has some swag cuz

  • He truly deserved this :)

  • I don't mean to sound snobby but I always loved the book more than the movie because of the character development, but by God, Gregory Peck gave the performance of a lifetime as Atticus Finch. One of my all time favorite actors. Along with Jimmy Stewart, Marlon Brando and Henry Fonda. I love their counterparts of this generation: Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Depp, and DiCaprio, but NONE of them will be as charismatic as the originals.

  • Back in the day, (HOPEFULLY it's still the same), he was declared THE gentlemen of Hollywood. He honestly was.. Are any of you even aware of a certain interview of his where they asked what role he most liked to play? He related himself to real life, how he always wanted to be that one person you can trust and look up too.

Suppose I'll send a link to it? Though it's rather saddening.. :c

R.I.P. Gregory Peck, you were a hero on stage and in real life. ♥

  • Talent, Looks, & Class. He really was something.

  • Handsomest man to walk the earth.

  • I want to marry him!! too bad he died :(

  • Gregory Peck once claimed that every time he encountered Horton Foote, he would always say, "Thanks for the Oscar, Horton!" as he credited his brilliant screenplay for his win. I'm very surprised to discover he neglected to thank him here. I gather it was a momentary slip of the mind.

  • Amazing. They don't make men like they used to any more. His grandson (Ethan Peck) comes pretty close however :D

  • God he was soo hot.

  • Mr. Peck should've won best actor for every movie he was in.

  • @Videot01 No Kidding! What an actor! What a looker!

  • such a beautiful man. wow. even better, a legend of an actor.

  • :DDDDDDDD <3<3<3

God...that voice...I can hear the angels singing

    lol <3<3<3 xD :P

  • Damn...Sofia Loren looks like a solid 10 right there.

  • @IzzyJG99 If that's a solid 10, then what's this?: /watch?v=7TbbkFOhGlA

  • Him, Jimmy Stewart, and Brando, my favorites of that era.

  • @RichardElden Yeah. Again so many actors at that time were. If not full fledged alcoholics, a lot of them had problems with alcohol. They were still incredible actors. agreed?

  • pure class!

  • "That's it! I will come back there and so help me god, I will hit you with my ring hand!"

    Lmao. Classic.

  • Arg It be a White Whale!.

From Hells Heart i stab at thee. For hates sake I spit my last breathe at thee.

    R.I.P My Freind

  • Atticus i want to marry youuuuuuuuuuuu!

  • Omg, that voice, that's why he won an Academy award! :D I love Atticus! :)

  • I love him as Atticus:3

  • There's a story about a mild-mannered, soft-spoken lawyer named Atticus Finch, who was named the greatest movie hero of all time, ahead of Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, and James Bond....and the reason is Gregory Peck.

  • I am so glad he is getting a US postage stamp this month!

  • best film hero ever and best actor ever!

  • Class.

  • 3 people disliked this.

What is the world coming to?

  • @megalong10 They were told by other people that O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia was the best performance ever.

  • The Voice the looks the grace the air when he walked was such a vision of male loveliness.

  • Hes sexy. Deep voice.. :D

  • Sophia what else?;)

  • At, 0:32, What did Sophia Loren say to Gregory Peck?.

I strongly suspect that her words were from one Professional to another, CONGRATULATING Mr. Peck on his achievement!.

    Two class 'acts', no contest.!.

  • @JuanMacready

Bite your tongue! Peck deserved his honor versus a man's who is so talented he cannot even accommodate to the screen.

  • Everyone's lives would be great if their fathers were just like Mr. Atticus Finch.. :-)

  • I find it funny how little men's fasion has changed since then, and how much women's has.

  • This oughta be the blueprint for all acceptance speeches. Thank the author of the novel, the cast and crew, the Academy voters, and your family and friends. Thats it. Today, they all go around thanking their agents for all the money they get them.

  • @jmwvideoman22 Agents do a hell of a lot more than 'get money' for people. Jesus. Your complaint is that people are grateful to those who brought them to their success/awards? Come on.

  • now that is what an acceptance speech ought to be.

great speech from one of Hollywood's greatest leading men.

  • bien mercido una actuacion estupenda en una pelicula maravillosa

  • HIS VOICE....it can melt butter:LL

  • @gabrellequinicot He had a horrid gravelly chain smoker's voice.

  • @JuanMacready Most people from that time period were smokers, especially actors. It was considered a normal thing to do. Can't diss him out based on that. He won the award. Get over it.

  • @gabrellequinicot his grandson has the same deep deep vioce....:D

  • aww i have a better understanding of kill tha mocking bird

  • ZOMG he wears glasses in real life *throws a happy seizure* !!!!!

  • So well deserved!!!

  • Why don't people speak with that kind of sincerity anymore? One of kind,

  • directors like spike lee and scorsese have made better biopics because of their energetic storytelling techniques but lawrence of arabia was a disappointment. the only reasob i cared the slightet bit about what happened to that man was because of o'toole, but was his performance more interesting than peck's work? I think not. Peck had to give a cool, subtle performance as this man who is passionate, but not agressive and he did it beautifuly

  • o'toole was the only good thing in lawrence of arabia. that movies often seen as a landmark in film history because they actually let a director make something that ambitious and yet the result is surprsingly poor. you can go to all the locations you want, you can't make that long a bipoic with such a lame screenplay. the directings also rather pathetic. directors should do more than concern themselves with the visuals and put some energy into the story in order to make it compelling

  • Hey guys, I'm gonna be super generic and say Peter O'Toole should have won, because the internet and critics say he should have won! Even film lists say he was the best!

Trooling aside, watch To Kill A Mockingbird. Atticus Finch is an icon, and Peck did a perfect job. I've tried to watch Lawrence of Arabia and thought it was boring, but that's just me. Seriously, gain your own opinions and give real reasons why you disagree besides bitching.

  • @JuanMacready Thanks for proving my point. I'm not against people who have their own acting opinions, but you're just spouting off the same mindless BS everyone else does. Did you see the movies that Fonda and Ford were nominated for? Can you even name them without looking them up? All anybody ever says is that Peck is wooden. Keanu Reeves is wooden. Atticus is a lawyer for those commenting who've never read the book or seen the movie. Was Peck supposed to act like Perez Hilton?

  • Son #1: Are we there yet?

Son #2: It's crowded back here!

    Son #3: Stop touching me!

Son #2: Your leg is rubbing up against mine!

Gregory Peck: Hey! Quiet down or I'm pulling over.

Son #1: Stop breathing on the window!

Son #2: You idiot! That's condensation, it's on the outside.

Gregory Peck: That's it! I will come back there and so help me God, I will hit you with my ring hand.

  • @MAlatinboy

Ha! One of my favorite Family Guy scenes!

    :-)

  • @JubalCalif Mine too, someone else wrote that on one of Peck's interviews so I just had to write it here

  • @MAlatinboy

Glad you did, my friend! Gave me a MUCH needed chuckle!

    :-)

  • @RichardElden

    Gregory Peck, talentless?

You're clearly as fucked up as they get.

It's not even WORTH flaming someone as deliberately stupid as you.

  • you don't speeches like that anymore.

  • why are here haters commenting?

I cannot imagine somone being able to hate Gregory Peck. He was an amazing actor!

  • He was such a gentleman and handsome!

And I like that in the past, actors did not kiss each other on the cheek like today, it is really embarassing what they do these days on the OScars

  • @RichardElden Then tweet about it.

  • @RichardElden You're an 18-year-old idiot. Why don't you go text your friends about it?

  • @RichardElden wat the fuck is ur problem?

  • Peck was brilliant. If you hate him because of his liberal politics, that's your loss.

  • Spectacular actor!

  • people who said that peck didn't deserve oscar

I'm sure that they didn't seen to kill a mockingbird

why o'toole should win his role didn't ask for any skill of acting

    his movie just adventure movie

  • JEM!!!!

  • Gregory Peck stuttered when was young. It was treated by having him say his words to the clicking of a metronome. This was in an interview with him. You won't find it on the web, to verify. Take my wor-wor-wor-word for it. Yes, I also stutter!

  • This might surprise a lot of people - but Peck wasn't sure he would win that night. He actually had a lucky rabbit's foot with him.

  • @KOHF34 He certainly didn't deserve to win.

  • one of the most beautiful performances of all time.

  • @JuanMacready Ouch. That's kind of harsh. You should really giove his performance a second chance....

  • @TheEagerMcBeaver I'm amazed Peck didn't get lung cancer. Henry Fonda and Glenn Ford would have been much better as Atticus. O'Toole was ROBBED in 1963.

  • @JuanMacready

    You're a f*cking joke I bet you didn't even see his movies

  • @JuanMacready are you still here? Get some new material, dude, your schtick is boring.

  • He reminds me alot of my late Grandpa. The way he looks, his voice, even his glasses look exactly the same. Its,funny, but thats kind of sad and comforting at the same time.)

  • He always reminds me of Christopher reeves. Or should I say, Christopher Reeves reminds me of him.

  • whenever i hear that music i get goose bumps! i love it so much, i downloaded it on my ipod!

  • they should've done a joint award, where two were given out. peter o'toole definitely deserved one. both performances were outstanding and will never be forgotten in cinema history.

  • The "competition" was strong - especially Peter O'Toole - but there is no doubt, Gregory Peck's performance was something beyond description.

  • it's always best to post the complete nominee list

  • Hmmmmmm..... Mr. Peck kinda looks like my godfather Jeff. Which is awesome because he's a lawyer too.

  • Well deserved award. He's a class act :)

  • ATTICUS!!

  • A great performance, an unforgettable film.

  • Hearing that theme music always makes me tear up a little.

  • @MissHazelFlagg Me too:) --

  • @MissHazelFlagg same!

  • watch the afi tribute to hear the music again

  • Comment removed

  • @MissHazelFlagg me too. We read the book in English at school...ages ago and I was deeply impressed by the adaption, which seemed to me so different from the main stream movies at that time and certainly compared to pictures today. Then again, it proved what can be achieved in the US.

Today I feel privileged I had such a teacher, he even went to the only theatre where they had plays in English. In Frankfurt.

Thanks for the video Cheers from Germany

  • You bitch, I'm going to punch you in the face

  • there was never one and will never be another one like the one and only Peck the impeccable. Thanks Cliffmountpictures

  • one of the greatest films of all times. a must watch for every human being. and what a delight to see this great legend play this character so beautifully. RIP Mr Peck. You are incredible

  • He is in Cape Fear? Righht???

  • @xxxSelenagomezfanxx He has a leading role in the original, and a cameo in the remake.

  • @ttlms okayy! I knew anyway, cause i looked it up! but thaanks! :)

  • No one else could have been Atticus

  • Gregory Peck is one of the best American Actor of all Time.

  • i love gregory peck

  • One of the greatest performances of all time by a great man.

  • Poor Peter
