@lexmarks567 I had a friend, now dead, who was a Conrail brakeman. One day he was riding up with the engineer when a cement block came thru the windshield and hit my friend square in the face. The glass from the windshield was pushed right into his face. Somebody was looking after my friend because he was not blinded or killed. Somebody thought it would be fun to do this. This is why they have these grates over the windshelds.
There is no train from South Station to Buzzards Bay. Long gone. Closest you can get is to Middleboro on the MBTA commuter rail. I think that takes about an hour. Middleboro is well short of Buzzards Bay.
Well the cape has no or very little public transport and to really enjoy it you need a car.I know that because I am down the cape every summer.Trains are good for areas for cocentrated mass not spread out ones.
The MBTA will probably get down there eventually with communter rail. It doesn't much matter what happens then. I think that the beauty that once was the Cape is long gone. It's not like the song that Patti Page sang about it.
My family has been spending much of the warm times in Bourne going all the way back to about 1945. I'm the last of the family and I'm getting out because Bourne is taxing me to death to keep the teachers union happy. Bourne will just finish the process of becoming another crappy suburb of Boston.
Amtrak is pretty much done with those engines. And Amtrak does not go to Buzzards Bay anymore. Last train was 10 or 12 years ago. The dog is long gone too. He was a good dog. Name was Phoenix. Died in 1989.
hey the f40 has grates over the windows.

@PKingman
just odd to see it as they don't have the grates anymore. Only the MBTA does
lexmarks567 1 year ago
@lexmarks567 I would think that they would still need the grates. Maybe they have very strong windshileds now.

Its a shame amtrak is so under-funded,would have been great of they could of kept the train.

Costs alot of money and not enough business to support that run. Maybe they should have advertised more.

That's odd, I thought F40PHs were supposed to have K5LA horns. That horn is a K3LA.
