I always find it interesting to see how certain characters respond or react to other characters. If you pay attention to Mike Teevee at the part where Veruca throws the yellow cling-wrap around Wonka (just before she grabs the cart) you can see that Mike is sort of kneeling, as if he's watching a spectacle or a TV show. I bet he finds Veruca's tirade amusing and entertaining! LOL

You raise an interesting point, but it wasn't just about disobeying Wonka. It was about being a good person, and that entails recognizing that you have done something wrong, and making amends for it. That's why Wonka forgives Charlie at the end of the movie, because even though Charlie disobeyed Wonka earlier, he atoned for his behavior by returning the Ever-Lasting Gobstopper, thereby proving to Wonka that he wasn't going to sell it to Slugworth. It's about redemption.
