I just started playing this on my PS3 but there is this strange "echo" with sounds like sword strikes, grunts, and explosions. Is anyone else encountering this?
Xbox and gamecube to an extent had bloom lighting, which looked pretty fantastic. I think it was omitted from this collection since it's based off the inferior ps2 version.

When i try and start up Warrior Within, it goes to the main menu fine but then when i try to start a new game the screen goes completely black and pretty much freezes. i can't even press the PS button... does anyone know whats happening or how to fix it? kinda wanna sort it out considering i just paid the money :/
The sound is the worst in any game you've played. They clearly were using some really fucked up unique sound system when they were testing the sound on this game. Or somebody accidentally set the profile to "bathroom" or "stone cave". I mean WTF were they thinking?
@ZeMovinPixxle I have both, the PS3 version is better, though maybe it's just because I'm playing it on the HD tv it looks a lot better. The speech is very low in parts though as some have mentioned.

@ZeMovinPixxle Yeh I'm not sure how much has been reworked, the box says Fully re-mastered in 720p HD with new textures, normal maps and anti-aliasing, It also has a 3D option I don't have a 3D tv though. I bought it from The Hut for £9.85 which is probably about 15 Dollars or something so it's fairly cheap anyway.
I have all 3 PoPs on PC, and the 1 one is that today yet look good. maybe it's because it uses simple textures, don't trying to make a realistic visual. The polycount is low for today games but it still looks good. Sound and motion are awesome.
Don't see why people complain so much about the damn graphics, great gameplay makes a game worth buying...yes graphics also need to be good but there has to be a good balance of both to make a game worth ur time...besides this is NOT a remake dumbasses, it's just an "enhanced" version or so, a remake would be somewhat different from the original geeez!!

I really enjoyed it, but didn't get around to Warrior Within and Two Thrones, and figured, what better way to get them? not only that, but trophies enabled is cool. I'm no trophy hunter, but I like that they time stamp your progress in a game, and ppl can see what you've beaten or just picked up for a few minutes.
I can only get 720p res with this game. It says its rated for 1080P. How come I cant get it? Yes im using an hdmi cable and yes my tv is rated for 1080P capable. Pardon my lack of know-how.
@357686 I assume you are playing this on ps3, if so, then check the video display settings on your ps3 and make sure that all boxes are checked including 1080p.

i still play the 2003 version from time to time so it rly doesnt matter to me be it HD or not but IMO if theyr doing a re-make in HD they should make it with better graphics than this
Only reason I'm getting this is cuz 3 games in one. Haven't played the 1st in a long ass time. 2nd one I've played countlessly since I owned. 3rd haven't haven't at all. Its a very good buy. $40 for 3 games I miss! WIN WIN
@MsBloodysmiles "Widescreen" refers to an aspect ratio, not a resolution. You can play this game at 1600x1200 on a 4:3 monitor (high-definition), and you can watch a VHS tape on your plasma screen (crap definition). People only equate HD with 16:9 because the standards and terms became ubiquitous at the same time. Anyway, the PC version has better audio, costs less, and is less buggy than the one on PSN. It also looks better, unless you're using that widescreen patch that crops the image.
@biffodio The PC version has a poor resolution(maximum 1024 x 768), there is an utility called uniws that can change this resolution to higher ones. But I dont know if the HD version has better textures.
This game already had awesome graphics on its days, reflections in textures, shadows, even movable/destructable models. And the story is awesome, the ending made me cry, and the gameplay was really good too (I just didn't like the never-ending long fights, they could had been shorter to enjoy the story even more), I guess I'll buy it to enjoy it again with my gf on our PS3.
I don't think people buy this for the "remastered HD graphics", people buy this game because it's awesome. And yes you could just buy the PSX version for much less but then we'd miss out on the trophies...
I don't get why gaming is all about the graphics nowadays, I'd take a good gameplay over good graphics any day of the week. Thumbs up if you think devs are too focussed on graphics nowadays and thus neglect the gameplay side of their game!
To tell you the truth, the trophy thing would be under graphics as a purpose, as they lead no where. Its just like AVGN on score, its not Atari, so score doesn't matter. Though personally, I love the extra replay value trophies add. Still, they don't amount to anything. They could have gone towards items in Home or other unlockable custom things as in Uncharted 2, but many times, it means nothing to get them.
In terms of the graphics today. While I'm within the field of graphical technology to a point and love to explore environments and the such, making the game feel as though your actually there, it amounts to nothing to truer graphics whores. They all go on a high and are usually the biggest frag heads. They see too much obstacle or obstacle course over goals, the idea of the game and overall immersion. Me? I play all types of games, regardless of gameplay or graphical "inferiority".
What happened, was that the mentality of games in general, was too much on the Mortal Kombat or GTA blood blood blood mentality. Better graphics means realism in the gore department. Another very similar problem was the previous stated on looking a bit too much at obstacles, the wrong focus. In fact, I bet a lot of people that stopped playing games, over them becoming too much the same to them, came back only because the new immersion and graphical environment to be set in.
With the collections, the idea was to bundle them into one easy disc for everyone, including newcomers to the game, and to the minimum, use the advantage for a cleaner and less jagged image. They up small aspects too, like texture rez. The Tomb Raider collection even added faint real time shadowing. I hope ubi spruces the lighting and gameplay in the Splinter Cell collection. Either that, or release the xbox versions instead, as its areas are bigger and had few more to do in them.
@DudeDinge agreed except that trophy support is not that big of a deal IMO and isn't really enough to pay an extra $10 or so for the ps3 version of the games, whereas u can save some money by getting the games for the ps2 instead (if u have 1 that is, been thinking of getting 1 again). no thumbs up cause there are some next-gen games that are fun to play. i mean, i had fun playing red dead redemption for example.
Graphics ARE important nowadays, whether you want to admit it or not. I do NOT want to see a game with Splinter Cell 1 Graphics, or even worse, on a next generation console. It's ridiculous, there is so much new technology out now that they could make it better. I do not believe graphics outweigh gameplay, but I feel there is a balance to be had. Anyway, I would buy this for HD because I feel more immersed. Other than the classic feel, why take less when you can take more?

@DudeDinge I understand why. Devs HAVE to focus on graphics or so many people flame the game and they lose SO much sales. The developers of games have to go with the Gaming communities's trends or their game will flop saleswise. I 100% agree with you that they focus too much on graphics MOST of the time, but they're kind of forced to.
Ok, so I've been playing the original ps2 version of Prince of Persia Sands of Time at 720p on my PC using an emulator and it looks pretty much identical to this video, same thing with God of War and it's "remastered HD" version. The original PS2 disc had WAY more data on it than the machine or CRT tv's of the day were capable of displaying properly. When you play the PS2 disk on emulator on PC you can see just how much better it looks. So basically, they didn't do anything to it for PS3.
I also found this with original PSX (PS1) games when using emulator's back in the day. The emulator takes advantage of computer's video card, and higher resolution display to actually display the graphic data that is present on the disc. All that was done for Prince of Persia HD for PS3 was some bump mapping on building textures... (maybe). I actually think they have lost some of the atmospherics of the game that gave it a bit more realism / grit. There used to be more glow, haze, dust, etc.
it kind of bugs me that they can re-release what is essentially an un-modified PS2 game and imply that they have improved the graphics substantially to HD... when in fact they didn't really do anything at all. It is simply the better rendering of the models by the hardware in the PS3. But the data remains essentially unchanged. I guess buying the game over again for PS3 is easier than emulation and outputting video to HDTV from a PC...??!!! It'd be nice if they actually earned the $.
Well, I just ran this video side by side with my PS2 emulator running POP Sands of Time at 720p, the emulator looks better. Keeps all of the lighting / shading effects and other atmospherics. Come on guys, at least try to do something to earn the money your charging for this. All you did was allow us to run POP Sands of Time for PS2 on a PS3. You didn't change the models, or the code. It's lame and cheap. The same thing was done with the re-release of God of War 1 and 2 for PS3. BAH!
This is just Prince of Persia trylogy with PC graphics (that was on PC only when those games were relased). Console graphic sucked, and now there is trylogy remastered for ps3. :) PC players - don't worry, you already have this!

@thequacker1000 It says that it's exclusive to the PS3 and to Europe. I have it on the PS3 and I live in Europe, but I can't tell you if it truly is exclusive to Europe. As for the 360, I haven't seen a XBOX version of this collection yet.
in my oppinion, i think it's much clearer than the PS2 version. I'm glad they're releasing this as HD in PS3. However, i agree if u have the PS2 / xbox versions of the sands of time trilogy, u don't need to buy the PS3 HD version., unless you were after the trophies.
@soksume Actually there is a monumental difference. It isn't just a major graphical boost and true anti aliasing. The load times are ridiculously short and saving is seamless.
Furthermore, you're getting the trilogy for $40. I played the first one a long time ago but not the other two and I am liking those as well. Plus you get the convenience of being able to choose which game to play on one disc.

@soksume Obviously if you already have the other three you wouldn't get this. This is for people that may have missed this series and instead of trying to find all three (which are around $10 each online anyways), you have the convenience of getting all three for $20 less than a normal new release game and polished in HD and in one disc. Win.

It's just the pc version, calling it HD doesn't mean much. It's just playable on a lcd or HD tv. Nothing was redone, same with Splinter Cell and BGAE. Just a easy way to make money. Kinda like how Nintendo would put "64" after every title... lol
I ordered the disc version from the UK, (which works fine on my US PS3), I'm not impressed with the graphics if they did improve at all, its like I'm playing my ps2 version games on my ps3, pretty grainy quality. Overall good games though, worth the purchase for any Prince of Persia fan.
It's not just you, it's freakin horrible. I have my sound up really high, then I still had to adjust it so SFX was at 3/9, and everything else was at 9/9 so I could hear them talking without having super loud SFX. Then, sometimes the flashbacks are really loud, despite other voices not being loud. Oh and the echo, yes, wow.
i have this game on ps3, its great because its HD but the problem is the game crashes.. each game has platinums and the trophies are easy to achieve but the cd hangs.. i don't know if its just my cd but my other games don't have problems.
@albenizski I haven't encountered any crashes yet, but I am expecting them to occur, the PoP trilogy was very buggy on both the PC and the PS2. (especially Warrior Within)

one of my concerns/gripes is the color difference in the xbox and ps2 versions. and again, the ps3 is usually blander in multiconsole releases.
is this collection also 'brighter'/more vibrant (though the games do have 'bland' sections) instead of just hd?
also, if you got a wii, that version of forgottten sands is actually fun =)

Only reason I'm getting this is cuz 3 games in one. Haven't played the 1st in a long ass time. 2nd one I've played countlessly since I owned. 3rd haven't haven't at all. Its a very good buy. $40 for 3 games I miss! WIN WIN

@biffodio No its not. Not the original trilogy. You have to use a widescreen patch to get it HD and even then the graphics are horrible.

@MsBloodysmiles "Widescreen" refers to an aspect ratio, not a resolution. You can play this game at 1600x1200 on a 4:3 monitor (high-definition), and you can watch a VHS tape on your plasma screen (crap definition). People only equate HD with 16:9 because the standards and terms became ubiquitous at the same time. Anyway, the PC version has better audio, costs less, and is less buggy than the one on PSN. It also looks better, unless you're using that widescreen patch that crops the image.

@biffodio The PC version has a poor resolution(maximum 1024 x 768), there is an utility called uniws that can change this resolution to higher ones. But I dont know if the HD version has better textures.

This game already had awesome graphics on its days, reflections in textures, shadows, even movable/destructable models. And the story is awesome, the ending made me cry, and the gameplay was really good too (I just didn't like the never-ending long fights, they could had been shorter to enjoy the story even more), I guess I'll buy it to enjoy it again with my gf on our PS3.

I don't think people buy this for the "remastered HD graphics", people buy this game because it's awesome. And yes you could just buy the PSX version for much less but then we'd miss out on the trophies...
I don't get why gaming is all about the graphics nowadays, I'd take a good gameplay over good graphics any day of the week. Thumbs up if you think devs are too focussed on graphics nowadays and thus neglect the gameplay side of their game!

To tell you the truth, the trophy thing would be under graphics as a purpose, as they lead no where. Its just like AVGN on score, its not Atari, so score doesn't matter. Though personally, I love the extra replay value trophies add. Still, they don't amount to anything. They could have gone towards items in Home or other unlockable custom things as in Uncharted 2, but many times, it means nothing to get them.

In terms of the graphics today. While I'm within the field of graphical technology to a point and love to explore environments and the such, making the game feel as though your actually there, it amounts to nothing to truer graphics whores. They all go on a high and are usually the biggest frag heads. They see too much obstacle or obstacle course over goals, the idea of the game and overall immersion. Me? I play all types of games, regardless of gameplay or graphical "inferiority".

What happened, was that the mentality of games in general, was too much on the Mortal Kombat or GTA blood blood blood mentality. Better graphics means realism in the gore department. Another very similar problem was the previous stated on looking a bit too much at obstacles, the wrong focus. In fact, I bet a lot of people that stopped playing games, over them becoming too much the same to them, came back only because the new immersion and graphical environment to be set in.

With the collections, the idea was to bundle them into one easy disc for everyone, including newcomers to the game, and to the minimum, use the advantage for a cleaner and less jagged image. They up small aspects too, like texture rez. The Tomb Raider collection even added faint real time shadowing. I hope ubi spruces the lighting and gameplay in the Splinter Cell collection. Either that, or release the xbox versions instead, as its areas are bigger and had few more to do in them.

@DudeDinge agreed except that trophy support is not that big of a deal IMO and isn't really enough to pay an extra $10 or so for the ps3 version of the games, whereas u can save some money by getting the games for the ps2 instead (if u have 1 that is, been thinking of getting 1 again). no thumbs up cause there are some next-gen games that are fun to play. i mean, i had fun playing red dead redemption for example.

Graphics ARE important nowadays, whether you want to admit it or not. I do NOT want to see a game with Splinter Cell 1 Graphics, or even worse, on a next generation console. It's ridiculous, there is so much new technology out now that they could make it better. I do not believe graphics outweigh gameplay, but I feel there is a balance to be had. Anyway, I would buy this for HD because I feel more immersed. Other than the classic feel, why take less when you can take more?

Anyways, I agree that a game should have good enough graphics to where it's not an eyesore, but gameplay is a major element. Do you really want a "sexy as hell" game where you just walk around the ENTIRE game? Also, graphics are sometimes compromised because of the game's art style. Lastly, I don't care if you block me because I always have to get my two cents in. :P

The developers of games have to go with the Gaming communities's trends or their game will flop saleswise. I 100% agree with you that they focus too much on graphics MOST of the time, but they're kind of forced to.

Ok, so I've been playing the original ps2 version of Prince of Persia Sands of Time at 720p on my PC using an emulator and it looks pretty much identical to this video, same thing with God of War and it's "remastered HD" version. The original PS2 disc had WAY more data on it than the machine or CRT tv's of the day were capable of displaying properly. When you play the PS2 disk on emulator on PC you can see just how much better it looks. So basically, they didn't do anything to it for PS3.

I also found this with original PSX (PS1) games when using emulator's back in the day. The emulator takes advantage of computer's video card, and higher resolution display to actually display the graphic data that is present on the disc. All that was done for Prince of Persia HD for PS3 was some bump mapping on building textures... (maybe). I actually think they have lost some of the atmospherics of the game that gave it a bit more realism / grit. There used to be more glow, haze, dust, etc.

it kind of bugs me that they can re-release what is essentially an un-modified PS2 game and imply that they have improved the graphics substantially to HD... when in fact they didn't really do anything at all. It is simply the better rendering of the models by the hardware in the PS3. But the data remains essentially unchanged. I guess buying the game over again for PS3 is easier than emulation and outputting video to HDTV from a PC...??!!! It'd be nice if they actually earned the $.

Well, I just ran this video side by side with my PS2 emulator running POP Sands of Time at 720p, the emulator looks better. Keeps all of the lighting / shading effects and other atmospherics. Come on guys, at least try to do something to earn the money your charging for this. All you did was allow us to run POP Sands of Time for PS2 on a PS3. You didn't change the models, or the code. It's lame and cheap. The same thing was done with the re-release of God of War 1 and 2 for PS3. BAH!

This is just Prince of Persia trylogy with PC graphics (that was on PC only when those games were relased). Console graphic sucked, and now there is trylogy remastered for ps3. :) PC players - don't worry, you already have this!

in my oppinion, i think it's much clearer than the PS2 version. I'm glad they're releasing this as HD in PS3. However, i agree if u have the PS2 / xbox versions of the sands of time trilogy, u don't need to buy the PS3 HD version., unless you were after the trophies.

@soksume Actually there is a monumental difference. It isn't just a major graphical boost and true anti aliasing. The load times are ridiculously short and saving is seamless.
Furthermore, you're getting the trilogy for $40. I played the first one a long time ago but not the other two and I am liking those as well. Plus you get the convenience of being able to choose which game to play on one disc.

@soksume Obviously if you already have the other three you wouldn't get this. This is for people that may have missed this series and instead of trying to find all three (which are around $10 each online anyways), you have the convenience of getting all three for $20 less than a normal new release game and polished in HD and in one disc. Win.

It's just the pc version, calling it HD doesn't mean much. It's just playable on a lcd or HD tv. Nothing was redone, same with Splinter Cell and BGAE. Just a easy way to make money. Kinda like how Nintendo would put "64" after every title... lol

I ordered the disc version from the UK, (which works fine on my US PS3), I'm not impressed with the graphics if they did improve at all, its like I'm playing my ps2 version games on my ps3, pretty grainy quality. Overall good games though, worth the purchase for any Prince of Persia fan.

It's not just you, it's freakin horrible. I have my sound up really high, then I still had to adjust it so SFX was at 3/9, and everything else was at 9/9 so I could hear them talking without having super loud SFX. Then, sometimes the flashbacks are really loud, despite other voices not being loud. Oh and the echo, yes, wow.

i have this game on ps3, its great because its HD but the problem is the game crashes.. each game has platinums and the trophies are easy to achieve but the cd hangs.. i don't know if its just my cd but my other games don't have problems.

@albenizski I haven't encountered any crashes yet, but I am expecting them to occur, the PoP trilogy was very buggy on both the PC and the PS2. (especially Warrior Within)
