  • Extreamly fine machinegun. That "metallic" sound scare everybody in frontline. And that was a meaning? Accuracy? It does´t matter. Short barrell life in action? 150 rounds and barrell chainge? Who cares in action? Portable is good vs. Vickers and other watercooled MG.

    BTW: GSgt is always right!

  • Why didn't the allies just copy this gun during the war?

  • @Wesley95501 Because defense contracts were making a Browning. No one at home saw a need as soldiers were still making progress without their own mg42.

  • I like the MG42, but the Browning M1919 will always have a rather large place in my heart.

  • STOP SHOOTING THAT THING IM GOING FUCKING DEAF OVER HERE!!!

  • Luckily it ran out of ammunition 2-3 times as fast. You only need to hit a person once with a 30cal or 8mm round, not rip them in half. Of course it is no fun for the first wave of infantry.

  • Sorry Browning your m1919 ain't shit compared to this ;)

  • dear santa i would like this gun for christmas

  • Didn't I see this guy in Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

    correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @AlmostHuman94 Ermey portrayed sheriff Hoyt in the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  • Rambo should use this..

  • hahah this guys such a fucking goof 'that squad of timber right there is flad dead, no question about it' lmfao!!!

  • Excuse this question from a limey firearms novice, we can't own anything except a hunting rifle or shotgun here, but what happens if the barrel isn't changed after 150 rounds and you just kept firing ? I know it would get extremely hot but with what consequences ?

  • @turboslag If the barrel isn't changed after 250 rounds, the rifling will start to wear out quickly, resulting in loss of accuracy. The barrel could also warp and come out of shape, making it unsafe to fire. You'd have to fire a lot of rounds for that to happen.

  • Is that the drill sergeant from full metal jacket?!!

  • @PengwonH Yes. Lee Emery I think his name is.

  • @theSCAWP R.(Ronald)Lee Ermey I know!

  • @PengwonH Im pretty sure

  • german art ! ;)

  • niice vid...in my squard we got 2 of theese...we call them " the nazi saw":P

this gun is brilliant...its big but when you are in posision...you can hold it forever

  • Awesome video until that idiot blurted out "good job paul bunyan!"

  • i love this guy

  • watched this a few weeks ago, fantastic and an awesome peice of kit

  • True German engineering right here! Fantastic gun

  • @TG9291

No way. The pkm is a boss in the mg world for sure. And the American m60 is an almost exact copy of the mg42, but with more modern features. Look it up.

  • @adriandagangster true they are more modern. but if youve ever fired a round of 8mm mauser out of any gun you can appreciate why the mg42 is so terrifying. 8mm from a bolt action is scary powerful, let alone 1500rpm of it. the pkms 7.62x54r is on par with the .308 (7.62x51 nato) while the 8mm holds its ground against the 30-06.

  • This gun makes the later machine guns like MAG, M60, PKM and Type 67 look like shit.

  • ROF 1200 that's the current version of it, the MG3. The MG42 had a ROF of 1400-1600.

  • Whats stupid and funny about those training manuals, is a trained operator fires this thing like a shotgun, in short bursts, to keep from wasting ammunition and to keep it from heating up, with 5-7 (or more) seconds intervals between bursts. So how is any body attacking it going to know, are they changing a barrel, or far more likely, are they waiting for me to poke my head up? Unless you can actually see the side of the barrel, you're never going to know when they are changing the barrel.

  • @cobrachoppergirl Exactly lol. No machine gunner is gonna lay down sustained fire long enough for their barrel to melt

  • i uploaded the whole episode of lock n load schotguns with the AA 12

  • Didn't the gas powered recoil take away from the power of the bullet?

  • @creambeam No. The MG42 is recoil operated, gas assisted. The booster at the muzzle redirects gas to increase the reliability of the system, this does not happen until the bullet has left the barrel, so to answer your question...no.

  • thr fifty cal. of the americans is more efective that the mg 42 from the germanys

  • @fedkp100 No it is not

  • @fedkp100 but its more heavy and not all the groups soldiers could carry one,the mg42 only needed 2 man and it was more fast, portable, light and allowed more rounds per minute.

  • @fedkp100 They were made for different purposes, so cannot really be compared.

  • yeaaaaaaaaa

  • How many rounds until the barrel melts?

  • I have fired the MG3, during my service in Finnish Army, even when it was mounted on the AA-mount in the Leopard's turret, the kick was horrifying.

  • Someone has probably pointed this out already, but the MG42 wasn't designed by Mauser.

  • they should shoot thicker wood

  • a barrel change every 150 rounds at 1200 per minute, thats a lot of barrels to carry around with you.what would happen if the soldier carried on firing past the time of a barrel change.

  • @Marlever357 I think if you have 3 barrels as they have then you can round-robin them without any problems because the first one will cool down once you used up the third one. Probably if you carry on firing without changing the barrel then it will get hot pretty soon and make the gun stuck or deform the barrel.

  • @plszuts Oh..I thought that the barrel was changed because the rifling was shot out and the guns accuracy went out of the window. You learn something new every day.Thanks.

  • @Marlever357 Thank you as well as I learnt the word "rifling" as I'm not a native speaker. :) It also turned out that the MG 42 used polygonal rifling which is more durable but less precise.

  • @plszuts Thats ok..what is your native language then, your English is very good?I wish that I had paid more attention at school in German and French lessons as in this day and age it really does help if you can speak more than one language.Regards.

  • @Marlever357 Thanks. :) My native language is Hungarian and I strongly agree that languages help a lot nowadays. I also realised this only now and I curse myself that I hadn't learned another language or two when I had the chance. All the best!

  • @plszuts Well, you have learn`t to speak English now and very well..good luck and best regards friend..

  • Lol old people are adorable

  • If only G.Sgt Hartman had been this nice to Pvt Pyle, a lot of unpleasantness would've been avoided.

  • Fuckin waste of ammo!

  • @pgergely13 More like waste of life

  • @pgergely13 thats why we use M1919, not the Cod fanboy one, but the real one with a stock.

  • @bassharmonica1

yeah the .30 cal is a fine gun, and U can aim while shooting with it.

  • @bassharmonica1 Actually, the M1919A4 without the stock was more common.

  • OMG I JUST HAD A BONER FAP FAP FAP WHERE DO I BONE ONE OF THOSE MGs?

  • Dear Santa...

  • Umm, Not "twice as fast as any gun before it" - The MG34 was faster...

  • @No1sonuk No, the MG34 fired at around 850RPM, which is lower.

  • @TaZ101SAGA OK, but not half as fast, so the statement is still incorrect. Like many from this series... ;)

  • @No1sonuk He's using it as a figure of speech, since most machine guns of the time fired 500-600RPM.

  • @No1sonuk Where did you get the assumption that the MG34 was faster? Wow, you need to recheck your facts!

  • "that is purrddy cool!" hahahaha

  • hittler could have won the war if only he new how to prioritize his resources mont innovations were too late too few and germany simply didnt have the manufacturing capability

  • shoit,gunny,where'd u take boot camp?sick call on m60 day?

die '42 vas die uber waffen for its rapid, short bursts:thhhh-thhhh-thhhh.......thhhh-thhhh-thhhh;in which the shortness of a 6-9rd burst would "be there" before we could duck, unlike a lower rpm burst;so you could rather quickly drop target after target.also i think it was a SAW,loaned from "MG admin squad" of the rifle pltn,in one application

  • If you would shoot a cheese with this only thing you would have left is holes.

  • NOW!! While their reloading!!!

  • die deutschen und ihre kriegschkunst! daumen hoch!!

  • and I am yet to see a documentary which outlines the effects the .50cal browning had on the Germans; because im sure that would have been terrifying.

  • @ginjaninja1988 Yeah, one American head off scores of German infantry and a number of tanks with a .50 cal on top of a destroyed Sherman. The bullet could kill one man and the man behind him and wound the man behind him whose hiding behind a tree.

  • Its not like the MG42 was some invincible magic machinegun that every allied soldier feared. But thanks to hollywood and popular culture so much of the soldier's experience in ww2 is shrouded in myth. Anyone who knows about real US tactics of the time knows they they just didn't sit cowering at the bottom of a ditch everytime a MG42 started up; and if they had they wouldn't have won the war because every German squad had one. The smart GI would just fix with the BAR and M1919s and flank.

  • @ginjaninja1988 Of course they where cowering in a ditch. They made a break for the flanks during the barrel changes sure, but cowering in a ditch is called finding cover... and every soldier is trained to do so under fire.

  • the MG42 was the weapon you don't want to meet, jeah, thats german power :D

  • Hitler's buzz saw, Hitler's saw, human saw...the german soldiers had multiple names for the MG42. My grandpa told me, they simply called it bone saw

  • Allied command was wrong - it wasn't 5-10 seconds to change a barrel, German MG teams would notify each other when the barrel was heating up so they would already prepare for a barrel change even though the gunner is still firing. Once the barrel is hot they would change it before melting and the average MG team could take 3-4 seconds. Not to mention the adrenaline during the heat of battle would speed things up a bit. The Allies thought they would have 10 extra seconds. Sadly they were wrong..

  • @RazorCell7 The clip said 5-7 seconds was what the Allies trained for though I would not be surprised if it took longer because of combat conditions. Under stress, adrenaline does increase your speed but it also causes one to lose their fine motor skills making them sloppier.. In training the speed could have easily been 3-4 seconds.

Modern firearm training teaches less use of fine motor skills and use more "caveman" type movements, safties, belt clips etc. because of stress.

  • you think they'd have set up so they shoot into a hill or something, that's a lot of bullets to be sending out into open air

  • Why would anyone honor the name of a weapon that killed millions. The fascist reich spiraled upward towards success because of this weapon. Russian Teenager is not amused.

  • @LegoManiacNo1 Cause guns are just tools?

  • @LegoManiacNo1 Cause Stalin was really a whole lot better. Cough cough, Katyn Forest, cough cough.

  • Buzz Kill

  • 14 people have nightmares about that gun

  • the mercedes in the machine gun branch :)

  • @artacania Audi's better

  • @SWI0001 does not matter witch one is better when you are talking about a gun that is the best :)

  • Eine Super Waffe....

  • i like my mauser 22lr. its an acurate gun. and its from ww2

  • Hitler was P.O.S. but the guns that were created by the german engineers were beast.

  • Wrong! Its was usually 1,500 round a minute depending on the bolt! Dumb fuckin american..

  • @germanairsoft12 Americans may be dumb...what's that make the Krauts?

  • @germanairsoft12 Not really, only models built during 1942 had a rpm of 1500. After that a heavier bolt was introduced which slowed it to around 1200 rpm. Since the majority of MG-42s were built after 1942 then stating that most MG-42s have 1200 rpm isn't really all that wrong.

  • @1c4ntexpl41n thats untrue. i have a MG42 manual from my grandpa right in front of me, printed in 1943. it says, 1350- 1500 rpm. The heavier bolt was developed AFTER the war and the weapon was called MG42/58 and was meant for the rearmed german army, later called MG1. Then renamed MG3 after some small fixes. The MG3 does 1200 rpm, not the MG42. Thats what you can read on the german Rheinmetall homepage, the producer of the MG3.. and i doubt, that someone knows better than they do

  • @germanairsoft12 Exactly...Depending on the bolt...So it can fire 1200RPM with the medium bolt. 1500 is with the light bolt. What you say is partially true however, it can fire faster than 1200.

  • A real beast, but the scary thing is that the Germans had another MG with the same high rate of fire. The Mauser MG81 with a rate of fire up to 1600 rounds per minute.

  • ......and the Yanks thought we would greet them with flowers at the beaches of Normandy.......

  • @MrKatzengreis Should have been worrying more about the Russians.

  • @MrKatzengreis Actually no. The Allies weren't dumb - They prepared for the Normandy landings. What the hell do you think the Diepe raid was about? It was an Allied experiment and a successful one at that. They learned everything they could about the German defenses including what was behind the beaches amoung the hedgerows. So you are wrong.. unless you are being sarcastic!

  • i wonder what happens to the barrel when its changed? can you use it again after it cooled off? if you need to change the barrel on this thing then what about the m60 machinegun? rambo never changes any barrels lol

  • @happosai27 if the barrel was over fired and warped in some way it can not be re used, if it was changed early enough, it is possible it could be re used.

  • @happosai27 The key is to change the barrel before it overheats, that's why in the manual they stated that you shouldn't fire more than 250 rounds in a single burst. The reason being that after 250 rounds the rifling would start to wear out really fast, if you change it before it gets too hot, you can re-use it after it's cooled.

  • hey, a FMJ Guy !

  • the MG42 fires 1500rounds per minute the MG3 fires 1200...

  • @AggroKrebsGERx22 Correction- The MG42 has between 1200-1500 RPM based on the quality of the build.

  • @TheFHCclan i know

  • the krauts must have these interlocked all up and down in normandy.

  • @Hume77 Stanford prison experiment.

  • What does Gunny says at 3:50? The buzz saw dog dog tool and lemon? :D

Need Texas native speakers to help.

  • @milanimilivoj the buzz saw the darn loggen tool XDDD mean it cuts the trees down like a logger

  • @patrickwright15 Thank you!

  • @milanimilivoj yw XD

  • @milanimilivoj He says, "The Buzz-Saw was a dog-gone loggin' tool wasn't it?!"

  • in fact the barrel wasnt changed, that things shoots thousands of bullets without overheating or jamming on a single barrel

  • All of this "Germans have no reason to be proud of their history, they're horrible, etc." bullshit makes no sense. What, do you honestly believe that an entire generation of German's were born evil? A few evil people gained power, and nobody opposed it. They weren't evil people for the most part, they were just fulfilling roles imposed upon them by their superiors.

  • @Grapadapapa You need to read some history and read about what German historians themselves are writing about the Hitler cult which gripped Germans quite voluntarily. They adored their insane leader and followed him like sheep like a herd of willing jackasses. Germans today know a lot more than apologists like you and they make no excuses for their failure to oppose the wretched government they had and the actions they supported at that time.

  • @Hume77 You know what. I would be adore someone like him too if my country was siphoned economically and unfairly by the Allies for many years. You think everyone at the time was living in a perfect society and decided one day it would be fun to go to war? I think not. It doesn't matter whos people it is, if any country was in that same position that they were in and a evil leader came with visions and promises for the future. Im quite sure that evil little man would of been a saint to anyone.

  • fired one, and it is orgasmic

  • I GUESS 12 PEOPLE GOT HIT WITH THESE BULLETS TO BE HATERS

  • @CAMAROSS747 i dont think you would survive if you got hit by this gun...

  • i hate this fucking american shithead presenter :)

  • Hitler's Zipper.

  • Thumbs up for Hitler's Buzzsaw!!!

  • BEST VIDEO on You Tube with regards to finger on trigger time .

  • In germany, we actually call it just "Hitler-Saw", a more compact name...

  • This gun right here is my favroite gun in history I loooooooooooooooooove it

  • 5. Guerillas, were NO soldiers & executed instantly when caught. All countries did those executions during the war, they were legit.

6.Don't trust every historybook for 100percent, cause the files of the NSDAP and of the Wehrmacht are still kept of public in a bunker in russia till today. So WE ALL don't know the truth of the 3rd reich. Wikipedia is not a serious source, every college student can sing a song of that!

    7. Dont point your finger on a country, when your own one has bloody hands too!

  • @SHIZZLOR didnt know that of the bunker in russia. thanks for tell me taht

  • @SHIZZLOR It is said that victors write the history....

  • Okay after all this shit i read here, it is time to place my shit as well :3

    1. Wehrmacht soldiers weren't allowed to be part of the NSDAP (NS-party), so they were NO nazis!

    2. The SS-man had to be in the NSDAP - so all SS-men were "nazis".

    3. The SS itself was splitted up into many sections. The most popular section was the "Waffen-SS" - a combat wing of the SS - they were used like the WM in frontline battles.

    4. The so called "deathcamps" were "WORKINGCAMPS" to produce ammo&shells etc...

  • TaZ101SAGA I understand that the war is long done with i am just sick of people saying that whatever state, city or country is superior than the rest. Everyone has something to be proud of and to be ashamed of and i was just trying to show some of the more agressivly proud germans that the country isnt all great. I myself am part german my grandfather is full german but that does not mean i want him dead. good day to you

  • Gute Deutsche Wertarbeit ++

  • OMG Full Metal Jacket!!!

  • MG42 fired 1500 rounds a minute not 1200...

  • i hate hitler but his is the fastest gun on earth

  • is the narrator drunk?

  • @Fabsun Hes a gunny. =/

  • Proud to be an American!

  • Gunnery Sargent Hartman !!!!!!!!!!O_O

  • knochensäge- bone saw . thats her nickname in germany

  • Now the germans in world war 2 had far better technology than the allies and where much more intelligent in that fact but thank god they did not have the intellignece to use this technology correctly becuase the world might be a different place today if they did

  • I love R. Lee Ermey not in gay way but hes awesome he was the sergeant in every toy story had his own t.v. show did a few commercials and was in the military

  • LOOOOOL fucking fail video the MG42 fires 1500/min

  • @AggroKrebsGERx22 It fires on average 1200RPM.

  • @TaZ101SAGA the MG3 (new german version) fires 1200/min and the MG42 (that in the WW2) fires 1500/min i'm german man i know that and i am in the Bundeswehr so stfu omfg

  • @AggroKrebsGERx22 Well every other source I have even seen states 1200RPM, but if you say 1500RPM, then thats fine.

  • @TaZ101SAGA thank u ;)

  • @AggroKrebsGERx22 From what I heard, the MG42's rate of fire varies depending on bolt-weight, 900-1500 with select bolts (During WW2, the standard bolt produced an average of 1200RPM), MG3 at 1200, MG53 at 850-1000RPM. I'm not saying any of this is completely correct, its just what I heard.

  • @AggroKrebsGERx22 I'm trying to learn as much as possible because I am planning to get an MG42 for display purposes.

  • "Hitler's saw" was the nickname for the MG 34, not the MG 42..

  • Dreachon k i know america is a shit country personally i think the entire world is fucked up but at the very least im pretty sure that the u.s never planed to take over the entire fucking world and then enslave or kill anyone who was not of our race. (not counting the hillbillyfucks during the time of the civil rights movement)

  • FUCK YEA!

  • Fuck man what a gorgeous gun :)

  • Well I don't follow the nazi ideology. but I have to admit those guys were brilliant

  • where would you get a barrel for one of these? I would assume they are no loner made. are they reusable or does the owner just have a ton of them?

  • @Legomax18 You can use MG53 barrels to my knowledge.

  • By god if only this gun didnt belong to the most evil country on this planet. Im american and believe that we were cowards for not entering the war sooner but what an ENTIRE fucking country did is unacceptable so whoever is proud to be german just remember the millions of lives and families you ended in the blink of an eye and if your still proud of the country that did that find the nearest gun and blow your fucking brains out

  • @Tommygunzbitch "Im american and believe that we were cowards for not entering the war sooner "

Than you are the coward ! It was a strategic genius move !

"so whoever is proud to be german just remember the millions of lives and families you ended in the blink of an eye and if your still proud of the country that did that find the nearest gun and blow your fucking brains out"

Iam proud to be a german, i give a shit on what you are talking ! Its 70 Years ago !

  • @Tommygunzbitch

As if America is a country to be proud off, they caused just as much harm as other nations.

How many of the terrorist cells we have to deal today were funded by the US.

  • @Tommygunzbitch IM AMERICAN AND THIS COUNTRY IS A PEICE OF SHIT JUST LOOK AT THE SPECTRUMS AND SEE WAT THE WORLD REALLY IS ..AMERICA IS THE COMPUTER COUNTRY COMPARED TO OTHERS.WE ARE THE FAKE COUNTRY!

  • @ILLSTATE38 If you don't like it here so much why don't you take your ass out of this country and go live in one of those so called fantastic countries you think are so much better. Oh and please renounce your citizenship when you leave as well, we don't need idiots like yourself here who are only 20 and have no fucking clue what the rest of the world is really like when you are still living at home with your parents.

  • @maxthecat75 "computer country"? lol don't worry he's just a little fuck trying to be a 'rebel' cuz he's COOL!!!

  • @Tommygunzbitch

"so whoever is proud to be german just remember the millions of lives and families you ended in the blink of an eye and if your still proud of the country that did that find the nearest gun and blow your fucking brains out"

oh you poor yet arrogant US american....

only think about the millions of lives you wiped out, only to claim land, that wasn't yours..

no idea what i'm talking about ?

    2 words...native americans

you guys have NOTHING to be proud of either...so stfu!!

  • @Tommygunzbitch

The genocide against American Natives was one of the most massive, and longest lasting genocidal campaigns in human history. It started, like all genocides, with the oppressor treating the victims as sub-humans. It continued until almost all Natives were wiped of the face of the earth, along with much of their language, culture and religion.

    any more questions ?

  • @Tommygunzbitch Oh don't be so childish, it's not world war two anymore. You can't possibly claim that all German's should kill themselves, when most of the German population of today wasn't even alive back then. I think you need to sit down and read a good book, maybe then you will realise that it was only a small number of German's overall that actually committed the attrocities.

  • R. LEE ERMEY!!!!!

  • could you imagine dday.. going up on a beach in front of bunkers shooting these? those americans were brave.

  • @drummingmonster I never understood why they would make landing crafts like these at Omaha Beach which you're supposed leave through the front door... Isn't it obvious? This design makes everyone on it cannon fodder. Instead they should've designed them as amphibic vessels so they can go all the way up shore to the tank traps with soldiers disembarking through the rear while having complete defilade from machinegun fire. That would've saved thousands of lives.
