  • I hate nazis and all but the ending didn´t fit...Landa worked for the nazis but wasnt dedicated. It was a game,Hans played Aldo like a piano, outwitted him and Aldo was a real soar loser. Guess Tarantino was afraid the audience would go nuts if a bad guy came out on top. I mean,Hitler still died.... PS. Spaghettimusic,Cartoonletters,Sam Jackson narrating,no interesting basterd characters? No Walz made this film. Too bad this is who he always plays...limited range.

  • @Sumumabitch78 The entire script is online somewhere, I have yet to read it, but considering that Tarantino had to cut hours of story to turn this into a feature length story, I'd like to see if things either played out differently/ were better explained in his uncut script.

  • yeah hans landa was the shit. he was committed to being excellent. he was a bad man and good at it.

  • He is exactly like my boy next door, just older. Haha. Waltz walks my socks off :D:D

  • This is how a trailer should be done...not a 3 minute epic with every scene in the fucking movie! Bravo !

  • Japanese were as evil as Nazis.

They abducted 200,000 Asians (also Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & buried them alive to save bullets.

Japanese govt won't apologize to any of surviving sex slaves.

In 2007, Japanese govt org's bought 1 pg. of Wall Street Journal & filled it with OUTRAGEOUS LIES: (1) the females were whores who volunteered to service Japanese soldiers. (2) Japanese govt paid them more than Japanese army generals.

  • This film was pure bullshit....Hill Billies killing Germans like they were nothing hahaha in their dreams...Stupid redneck Americans....

  • @Jeffanos and what shithole of a country were you spawned in if you think America is so stupid and sucks so much

  • @Jeffanos Hahaha! Greece: the country of master rioters and master trolls.

  • @Guthrie7777 united states of america: bankrupt country with fat and stupid people ?

    amusing :D

  • @Guthrie7777 How do i know? Because naive insults about things you clearly have no grasp of?

Might i add, that's the typical stupid american on Youtube...

  • @Darusdei HAHAHAHAH!!! No success. Try again, Sir Trolls-A-Lot.

  • @Guthrie7777 I'm beginning to think that you don't even know what is a troll.

Which wouldn't be a big surprise considering what you've previously said...

  • @Darusdei Trololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololollololololololololoolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

  • you know... first time i watched it, never appericiated the dialogue... esepcialyl with landa

but after a while, you understand that every second of the dialogue is pure gold... so start digging

  • i only watched this film fo rhands landa , GOD I LOVE HIM <3

  • Hans Landa was the highlight of the fim. The rest of the movie is just a zionist wet dream.

  • Hans Landa is not only the best character in the film, he is the film.

  • @FreeCapital he is France

  • a man who is fluent in 4 languages(to my knowledge, in the movie he speaks 4 i think) he has a wide vocabulary, he seems friendly, the he fucks you up in any way possible.Gun, choking, or having someone else shoot you

  • Most stupid Tarantino movie ever. Landa "surrenders" himself to a guy like Aldo Raine???? What was he thinking? A movie like this is only as good as its villain. This villain in giving himself up to Raine belied his supposed guile and cunning which made his character so malevolent earlier in the movie . Lame lame lame.

  • @TatarInExile I thought the same first, but then I was thinking....Landa wouldn't do something cheep like just lie to his enemy to beat him, but Aldo does. Maybe Landa wasn't expecting that, I think he believed in some way in a code of honor.

  • @SoLazy100 Your point is well taken and I understand it, but I can't help thinking that that would be like expecting an angry bull not to charge at you simply because you yourself are a vegetarian.

But that's just me, I guess I just would have preferred to see the movie end in a rousing battle of wits instead of such an anti-climactic finish.

  • @TatarInExile The point was that Landa was ultimately a coward who only used his power to satiate his thirst for murder.

That's why he turned to a chicken shit once he saw his power slipping.

  • @jmvasquez Nobody here ever said he was not a chicken shit. We were just discussing how the movie ended.

  • @TatarInExile I love when people butt in and make retarded points.

Many people in these comments are upset by the sudden turn of Landa from a cunning murderous villain to a sheepish man who takes a plea deal in exchange for his life.

I was simply giving the reason he did so. If you have another explanation that makes more sense that is also from Tarantino's own words when questioned about the ending, by all means butt in again and let's hear it.

  • @TatarInExile That's the beauty of it. See the way he talked about how rats are like jews in the opening scene, and their instinct for survival? When ultimately, he is all about saving his own skin and doesn't care about anyone else, jews, nazis or blacks. Also, he did not surrender, he made Aldo's commanding officer believe that the success of their plan to assasinate hitler was in his hands.. To your merit, yes, he should have 'read' Aldo Raine a little better.

  • @Siore I see your point. It is great when you can discuss these things in a courteous and intelligent manner when another's opinion is different from your own. Have a good one.

  • They shouldn't have left that part of Landa's speech out of the movie...I've heared it in the trailer and was looking for it in the movie...it would've come out so much better if they had included the whole version...

  • Aurevoir SHOSHANAAAAA

  • I love Quentin Tarantino's movies, but this was the most boring pile of shit I ever watched.

  • @babler08 really? then you have a short attention span

  • HANS! MOTHA FUCKING! LANDA!

  • He is the deeply proud opposite of what “we”, as Christian-based democrats, believe as an ideal when it comes to “moral values” and overall behavior. This Nietzschean characteristic can certainly mislead his readers towards the classic “Nazi interpretation” of his writings, which is sadly misguided.

  • In a way Hans Landa could be (carefully) elected as a “true-to-form” Nietzschean ubermensch: Proud, intelligent, ruthless, pitiless; a complete “imoralist” for the Judeo-Christian tradition. Its best enacted and most idealistic antipode. Totally in control of himself and the situation around him and fearless to say how great he really is. The master’s morality representant par excellence.

  • I was always wondering what caused the dairy farmer to finally break down in the interrogation scene. I understand how Landa breaks people down psychologically, but the farmer was pretty stoic until the very end.

  • @NemeanLion I think it was the dilemma he posed. Up until that point the dairy farmer believed that if he broke his charade, he'd be punished for holding Jews. Notice he started to break down when Lands said "If we find them, and we WILL find them, then you and your family will not go punished - in fact, you'd be rewarded!" He could either turn in his friends, and walk away unscathed

OR keep up the charade, and play on the chance that Landa wouldn't find anything.

  • @NemeanLion He knew he was trapped, that Landa would find the people he was hiding because Landa, as he himself says, is of a different sort than the last German who visited his house looking for that family.

  • hans landa is arguably one of the best villans in the history of film

  • you can say what you want but christoph waltz did an amazing job playing hans landa.

one of the best villains of all time I think. no one is that evil, still so friendly, polite and intelligent.

In many scenes you can see how he really enjoys pushing his victims in the corner, with a psychic smile on his face.

  • @MrKail try LECTER

  • @OurBlackHearts23 That´s cause he never was a real nazi. He was a detective that happened to work for them. He didn´t have much respect for Hitler or the uniform.Since he knew the germans would loose sooner or later,he wanted his name in the historybooks. Ambitious fucker....but yes,two-faced is right.

  • This guy...talk about fascinating. His speech here shows that he has respect for the jews, don´t really get Hitlers hatred for them and unfortunately for them....understands how they think, their mentality. He´s a detective. A manipulative, sociopath with an IQ off the charts...but throughout the movie we see that he sees nazism as nothing but his current employer. And it´s funny how he here is proud of being called "The jewhunter" and years later,he´s sick of it .."Just a name that stuck."

  • @Sumumabitch78 I don't see how anyone can become general of France without being a real Nazi. I think that Hans Landa was devoted, but at the same time he was smart enough to know when they were losing, and saw an opportunity to get himself out of the situation. As for him saying "it's just a name that stuck", he was talking to two Jews who he was planning on turning himself over to within the hour. One thing I never understood was why he killed Von Hammersmark when he, himself, was a traitor.

  • @harold3456 Well, the definition of someone not being a real nazi might be that they get the founder of the ideologi and their fuhrer killed just to be written into the historybooks.A real nazi would have fought 2 the end and his first speech on differences with Hitler regarding jews establishes this. He was ambitious. This is both"The nightmare";imagine if all nazis had been this smart n skilled. 2nd, Tarantino piss on the nazis with saying the baddest one wasnt even dedicated.

  • @harold3456 Yes,he killed Von Hammersmark precisely cause she also was a traitor. If the coup succeeded,Landa would only get rewarded for letting them into the theatre while Von Donnersmark had been part of the entire operation from day one.She would be the bigger hero for getting them in.

He didnt like to share fame....and he seems to have had some women-issues,though we never get to know just why...

  • When I first saw the film, I wasn't expecting much, I thought Tarantino peaked and this will be just a shadow.

I was proved wrong in the first 60 seconds.

Then more wrong in 120 seconds.

    and so on...

  • I want this guy's smoke pipe.

  • Landa prtentending to not know French and then talking in English to keep the Jews from listening was pure genius.

  • @francobobfred lol when i figured that out, i was like, "that smart mother fucker"

  • @francobobfred When I heard him say "Excuse my French, let us talk in English", the whole theatre cracked up at what we thought was a cheap trick to use English in the scene. Our collective minds were blown when his intentions were revealed.

  • @harold3456 Yeah, same here in Canada, lol

  • I thought the farmhouse scene was awesome. Both actors gave some of the best acting I've ever seen.

  • @akshiak Have fun with the diseases

  • germans and austrians are genetically the same heritage

  • I dont know if it was in this video, but someone asked why the black man was not killed right away. The reason for this is because nazis did not view blacks as a threat. The reason why jews were the main enemy is because they believed they were so high on the list of superior races but at the same time they were inferior enough to be a threat and only think in a primitive animal like mindset; where as blacks were just so inferior that they were like animals and could not think for themselves.

  • @Brianjacob5050 the germans cheered in berlin for jesse owens, just for your info, he was the star in berlin, hollywood refuses to tell such interfering details

  • @Brianjacob5050 where'd you get that? Hitler viewed Jews as enemies because he believed the conspiracy theories of Jews trying to rule the world. It is the same NWO (new world order) shit you hear all over the place on YT and elsewhere still. Also he had a deep seeded hatred towards communists. In addition he was worked up on his race theories. He viewed some races inferior to others, but animal like? No, never heard that one before.

  • wath is the song ?

  • @tomtorterra I think the song is called L'Arena by Ennio Morricone.

  • The 16 people who disliked this are rats.

  • Christoph Waltz so deserved that Oscar. He was amazing!

  • Er sollte mehr Deutsch sprechen!

  • he is a villain with style, an educated man, that's what makes him a great character

  • Hans Landa is the best character in this film.

  • @Jms2152008 no fucking question!

  • @Jms2152008 That he is. When Landa pulls out that comically over-sized smoking pipe, I totally lost it.

  • @Jms2152008 That's an opinion.

  • @Transformers2themax More like fact.

  • @Jms2152008 Totally agree, a film is only as GOOD is its villain is BAD.

  • Waltz got a big place in movie history with his Landa role

  • lol @ a secret american taskforce that infiltrated germany and assasinated nazis for fun. As if that fuckin happened..Americans have their heads so far up their asses... The plot of this movie was rediculous, if the "basterds" actually existed they wouldnt have lasted a day.

  • what i dont get..is why LANDA killed the woman (the actress played by diane kruger..by stangluation) when he got into the plot of killing hitler?

  • @moorevayne Because he COULD. He's a sociopath, he wants to watch the life drain from your eyes.

  • @moorevayne because, if he left her alive it would be no good. if he went along with it, and she came out, the theater would explode and he would be persecuted as a nazi, but instead, he bargined for his own wants

  • Ahh ahh....wait for the creme

  • Hans Landa is hands down one of my favorite villains of all time, the first scene where he arrives to the french mans house, it was then where he intrigued me. but he really got my by being a polyglot, dont know why but i thought that was extremley cool how he can switch from language to language. he's so cool and calm when talking business, extremley well thought up character!

  • AU REVOIR SHOSHANNA

  • Instantly became one of my favorite villians. Even when he smiles theres always something menacing and terrifying about it.

  • The best ad for Inglourious Basterds. The others indicate that it is an action film, even though the violence is a fraction of the movie.

  • That's true.

  • Christoph Waltz's performance in this film is astoundingly good. I love the way Tarantino let the actors speak in the actual language that they would have spoken in, instead of getting an American/British actor to speak in English but with a hackneyed German akzent...!

  • @ncheetham i agree...made the movie more realistic, even though its not historically accurate

  • great

  • isn't that the guy from 300.just whack him man.lol

  • @KaKaGaNu no.

  • yogioto - very, very true

  • Funnist Basterds Ever, Check them out

    /watch?v=F2FMEnY0Vls

  • The meaning of the hole movie!!!

  • love this movie!

  • @zogbots ?

  • do of germans idiot. this jewish shit

  • charming villains like Landa are irrestistible

  • he was the best character in a movie filled with AMAZING characters...

  • yeah, amazing character, congratulations!

  • I am also glad he won

  • What makes Landa such an effective villain is how suave and likable he is. He is not a scowling monster. He is a pure psychopath...... all smiles and friendliness until he has the upper hand. Then he springs the trap. He's a terrifying and awesome character. Wonderfully played by Waltz. In many ways it reminded me of Joe Pesci's Tommy from Goodfellas. The kind of guy you're laughing with throughout the film even though underneath it all you know how evil he really is.

  • well said

  • @mindstormsabrewin Excellent insight, most correct! As Shakespeare said: "charm is rarely used without calculation" - operates on a more sophisticated psychological level which is why it has such impact, don't tell, show. Remarakable opening scene to this movie.

  • well said!!

  • @mindstormsabrewin Yea-what I liked about his scenes was the build up. You know from Quentin, something terrible is about to happen..you can almost predict how terrible based on the build up..the shooting in the bar, the humiliating acts the Jews had to do..the attempted suicide..

  • @AtlantaITGirl You're SO right! Tarantino knows how to build tension so that when the scene finally explodes you're actually relieved! That tavern scene just kept getting more intense with each passing minute. He makes you care about the characters and their plight. And he has enough faith in the audience to trust them to stick with a scene like that. Most directors would chop that scene down: "Too long! They'll lose interest!". It's nice that he respects his audience in that way. Peace.

  • @mindstormsabrewin That's true, but then again very few writers could come up with dialogues captivating enough to pull that off, Tarantino, Sorkin maybe, but most out there could never do it.

  • @mindstormsabrewin yes very much agreed, and everything is under the surface, u feel in every scene he is capable of ANYTHING and wouldn't bat an eyelid..brilliant comment by the way its exactly what i felt watching him..

  • @mindstormsabrewin He's not psychopathic actually. He's just calm and collected and likes his job.

  • @mindstormsabrewin I think Hans is more sociopathic than psychopathic.

  • @AngelofMusic04 Not sure what the difference is. I just know this guy is bad news!

  • Gratulation! from Vienna :D

  • that SS officer was probably the best actor in that movie, probably better then brad pitt, yes i agree, he needs an oscar!

  • @andreypondrey10 hehe, not only 'probably', he WAS, at least in my opinion! ^^ Waltz did a great job! He was the only actor in the movie deserving an oscar for his performance.

  • Great job Christoph! Greetings from Austria.

  • Waltz deserves every bit of that oscar....the best acting performance of 2009 for his colonel Landa character.....congrats.

  • I wanted him to win, would of been robbery if he didn't.

  • congrats to christoph waltz for your best supporting oscar, you deserved it.

  • Waltz deserves the statute tonight!

  • I hope Waltz wins tonight, my pick.

  • This year's nominated fellows Plummer, Damon, Tucci and Harrelson already surrendered, according to the press. Just watch Waltz's scenes with sound off (what I did) to understand why there is such a critic's hype about this man. Brilliant, epic, unforgettable!

  • cmv

  • (@GazGaz21)

  • if this actor doesn't win the oscar for his epic skills, the whole movie branch has to understand it as war declaration against the academy.

  • Its likely he will win Best Supporting Actor. I don't know, this is my first time being serious about the Oscars and the art of films in general. (I usually don't care about awards shows because all the winners do is gloat). I do agree with you. If he doesn't win the award, I will lose all hope to the Academy Awards and will resort to international film festivals. But just like life, not all award shows are perfect. Hey, lets just be proud people actually appreciate his work and 'nominated' him.

  • ohh ... I stand corected. lol Terrintino... misled me!! Hans Landa: Austrian. none the less, at least its not another American or Canadian plyaing a European.

  • Christoph Waltz (Hans Landa) IS actually German in real life.....not just an actor, but a German actor. speaks German , French, English and Italian.

  • to be accurate he's austrian, nevertheless his mothertongue is german

  • @pizzasuits Not German, Austrian.

  • @GazGaz21 yeah, i suppose they have, like all germans, right? -_-

  • @GazGaz21 and the Oscar for the dumbest Youtube comment 2010 goes to......

  • @GazGaz21 godless fucking whoreson? because im a german, im a nazi? to say all germans are nazis ist pretty Nazi like, so whos the nazi?

  • People like you are a shame for Germany!

    Please wake up!

This ugliest crime the nazis did shouldn't be commented like this on youtube!

    Please wake up!

  • What's are you saying? Try simple german sentences together with Babel Fish.

  • what a great little clip

  • see this is when you know ur a good actor when you make people want to kill you..lol...the funniest part ever is the part where he pulls out his big ass pipe

  • Christoph Waltz is amazing! At first I thought he just studied the passages in the movie to be fluent and with hardly any accent, but he does speak all these languages and seems to be well known for his awesome and enviable skills. Add some good acting, why has hardly any director cared for him so far internationally?

  • @yogioto dude, he is in a lot of movies... lol

  • @yogioto he doesnt actually know italian but hes skilled at mimicking the language. still funny when he busts out with it, i love brad pitts face.

  • hahahaha

  • super awesome video

  • The Soviets, during Lenin's and Stalin's time were far more monstrous than the Nazis were.

So much of the "Holocaust" seems to be based on evidence as credible as the woman's changing testimony we see in the video bellow.

"Night of the Living Jews - trailer"

Pretty funny. A little too realistic.

  • amazing actor. just loved him!

  • hans landa, hillarious.. i laughed all the way....

  • If he doesn't win a best actor/supporting actor academy award I'm gonna be pissed.

  • best actor

  • they usually do...

  • Inglorious Basters was a kick-ass movie. Laughter throughout.

  • spoiler :

I still liked Landa even if he was too trusting. He's smart but he underestimated the Basterds. On the other hand he was hilarious when he freaked out.

  • "If a rat were to run right past your front door, right now, would you greet it with a glass of your delicious milk?"

  • HE was SO STUPID in the end!!!!!

I mean WHY would he make a deal with the Allies (and specially with the Basterds)?????

The most intelligent chatacter in the movie revealedto be the most STUPID and Naïve
