  • The only reason I shoot low is because my forward lines would get pissed at biting down on slapshots all game long if I didn't. I go low to hit the pads and get a rebound coughed up for the guys out front.

In short, get it on net and get crashing. If you get it on net nobody will care.

  • get some talent and rip it bar down

  • goalie needs to bend his knees more

  • the goalie is going to drop as soon as you shoot then your spot on the ice is gone and the shoulders leave the top area

  • low glove all day lol

  • isnt that west hill arena?

  • 7 hole all day

  • is it ok if i have it about 1 inch off the ground

  • @TheBananaman380 he doesn't mean keep it ON the ice, he means keeping it low. its better to get some lift off of it, especially if there's a defender laying his stick on the ice or kneeling down. Try to keep it below the top of the goalie's leg pads (imagine him in a butterfly), if you're going for rebounds or about 1-2 inches off the ice if you're going for deflections

  • good job

  • Aim for the Nuts ..

  • wow this is in south burlington, i play for harwood in vermont. small world

  • only 8 inches space at top but only like 5 inches at bottom and i would shoot mid and just above the leg pad during the butterfly stance

  • 26 people are hockey masters!

  • be good and snipe the corner

  • yea but if you get a GOOD butterfly goalie you wont score down low and no rebound.

  • you do realize there is this thing known as butterfly?

  • Comment removed

  • what if the goalie double stacks the fuck out of my low shots? then can i go top shelf and hit the water bottle?

  • @21Rushisaband12 Roofing is hitting the water bottle.

  • @Dragonblader5511 thanks? i figured i'd just say hit the water bottle

  • thats 2 minutes of my life ill never get back..

  • the best place to shoot is just over the leg pads

  • thats what it looks like there but if you raise it to eye level then it is the same

  • The Real way on how to score -

    low blocker

fake the shot, then once the goalie is in his butterfly, roof it!

  • ask me if i care

  • wtf shoot the damn puck

  • wtf shoot the damn puck

  • what happens when theres a butterfly goalie?.. great point

  • @xoQSoLeGeNDox rebounds...

  • wtf... ever thought about a goalie going butterfly...?

  • @Leclwrd If the goalie goes into a Butterfly there is more likely to be a good quality rebound other then hit his blocker when its easy to redirect where its going to go, and He says to keep it on the ice, what i find is the best to do is to shoot low blocker side. Works well for me :)

  • @Leclwrd If you shoot it high, then the goalie wont go butterfly. unless you are playing house. in which case, give up hockey

  • umm wtf a top shelf shot scores wayy more than a shot on the ice...?

  • @hungbrain17 not always.. shots 10 inches off the ice are the most likely to go in, as the goalie has to go into the butterfly and has a less likely chance of stoping it.

  • makes sense

  • There are a few good tips here. Shooting high is good, but goalies love to rob you when you shoot top corner, and some of them expect it. A good low shot can get you a lot of goals too!

We have a bunch of tips on how to improve your shot in my channel if anyone is interested in improving their game

  • top corners are snipes

    snipes are goals

    low shots=butterfly save...

  • @xcrossxfadex what league are you playing in? Cause beating the goalie 5-hole is one of the most common goals in higher levels

  • @hockeymatt1994 no it's not... he's right, if you can hit those corners, then you're a huge threat

  • @himynameisatticus You obviously dont play high level. Any noob can hit the corners, and any skilled goalie can block them. Remember the gloves are much quicker than pads

  • @hockeymatt1994 Different levels of play don't change fact buddy... If the gloves are quicker and you can still beat them, then you're better than the goalie... Be better at your job than the goalie is at his... And I really don't need to be playing at the AAA level to know what's what...

  • @himynameisatticus Just watch a few NHL games. Count how many times players burn goalies on the gloves. Then count how many times they beat them low.

Make your own conclusions then, but stop acting like you know shit til then. Remember, it is much harder for the goalie to get low corners than high corners

  • @hockeymatt1994 What's the NHL? Is that the answer you wanted? Haha, go Blackhawks by the way.. Anyway, the pros almost ALWAYS shoot high.. They might know a thing or two... But shooting low is the reason a lot of players suck in shootouts, you can deke all you want but if you don't lift the puck, the pads are gonna rob you everytime.... Kick saves are way easier for goalies than glove saves and shoulder stops...

  • @himynameisatticus Dude, you cannot even claim to be a hawks fan and think players need to shoot high on goalies to score in shootouts.

Watch Kane and Toews in shootouts, they always go side corners, 12 inches off the ice, or 5-hole (or deke the goalie outta his jock). And they usually score too.

Granted, the most impressive goals are high, and are usually the ones you remember. But most goals are low

  • @himynameisatticus thats totally opposite. its much easier to move the arms and to have better vision up top. when its low it harder to see because of other players and the kick saves means u have to make more movement and that is more difficult to occomplish than just move ur upper body or arms.

  • @xcrossxfadex you sir, are a retard. Congrats!

  • @CBH621 obviously yu need to work on two things

    1.

way to make fun of ppl with mental retardation?

my brother died on the same day i was born because of it

    2.

most shots are scored top shelf.

ovies goal on the dueling hat-trick game with crysby

    kovalchuk.

most goals are scored top shelf

    so SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • nothing wrong with using a little shake and bake

  • The best spots to shoot the is short blocker side and five-hole thats just what i notice most players score from.

  • Touch of gray

  • Annnndddd that's why 99% of goalies play the butterfly so they take away the bottom of the net. Goalies don't just stand in the position like the one in the video lol. He is right about rebounds though

  • but they go dow u dumbass and usully goalie r bet in there b fly

  • ya but the goalie i want to beat always goes LOW

  • take a fucking shot...what the hell is this...that goalie looks like all scared

  • @MurphGiovanni i have to agree with that

  • This guy fucking sucks. Get a fuckin' teleprompter or memorize your goddamn lines, you hoser.

  • @jimih64 Teleprompter? Memorize "lines" wow.....I'm a hockey coach not an actor. I have an idea. Step away from the keyboard and play some hockey. Best feedback here is the fact that with butterfly goalies there is room mid post above the pads. BUT in a game you want to create those scrambles that often result in goals. Alone on a goalie -- sure, shoot "low blocker" mid post....but remember highlight goals are 1/3 of the actual goals scored. Scramble, bang it in and be the hero.

  • "Scramble, bang it in and be the hero."

Are you condoning rape? You SICK BASTARD!

  • @jimih64 FRIGGEN HOSER

  • lol frigge n hoser clarck the goalie

  • they didn't even shoot...

  • yo ketarhero is right, definately below the blocker right above the pad is the harderst shot to stop.

  • only complete dusters shoot the puck along the ice. bar south babyyy

  • high is better im a goalie but still rebounds in my leage no one harley scores everyone shoots high amost

  • The guy seems Canadian. If a Canadian says something about hockey, I take it to the bank.

  • Take it from a Canadian... You're absolutely right

  • I like the Canadians. I am one of the US Americans who considers hockey to be a great gift. It is the perfect game. Fun to watch and to play with the perfect blend of finesse and violence. We've got some Canadian guys down here at the rink who are terrific coaches and ambassadors of the game. Love it!

  • Game??? LOL... more like tradition where I'm from

  • Unfortunately, it is not a tradition on the West Coast here, but it is fantastic nonetheless. Go Kings!

  • @johncoktostone agreed...and on a random note...why does your youtube name sound so familiar to me? that was from a movie, right? was it fletch?

  • Yes, it's the name Chevy mumbles to Mrs. Stanwyk when he's trying to hit on her at the tennis club.

  • @johncoktostone

    he's shooting right ! he can't be canadian :P

  • @johncoktostone canada ftw!!!

  • @johncoktostone That's because it's their only sport. Just Sayin.

  • @johncoktostone nope from vermont so close enough

  • buddy nobody shoots low... bar down

  • bull crap!!!

i shoot damn well with my snipes

  • I like shooting from the point. It tends to hit some guy. LOL

  • what if the goalie goes down and u freeze him then you shoot over him duh

  • do you play hockey? if you did you would know it's not that easy it's all in the who ever makes the first move how you move and in your eyes oh and DUHHHHH

  • well yea i no im just saying if he goes down u shoot up you shoot low in certain situations

  • Only a horrible goalie actually goes down before you shoot. But u have a point. Im a goalie and i have leant to react not anticipate, where as a player has to anticipate not react. But it is harder to control rebounds and easy to save shots that go low. If you wanna score than put it high ha ha

  • Yea, but i dont think your going ot be literally standing still aswell as the goalie. He is always going ot be moving which creates more room if he is moving. then you just pick your corner a fire it.

  • i know right? i hate these things where it looks so ease but is is like kinnda hard it's like shamwow looks good but sux

  • you never shot to show

  • shut up and shot

  • @yeah1938 that would be shut up and shoot, not shut up and shot

  • @yeah1938

    you mean shoot :P

  • @yeah1938 Fix your grammer before you tell someone to shut up.

  • @yeah1938 shoot, not shot.

  • this is sooo true i did around 3 goals with low shots and 0 with high i just think that shoot hard enough and its gonna go in low power ia the best thing in low shots

  • Theres only 1 thing i gotta say about your technique... When theres a return, YOU usually dont get the goal, someone else does XP Yea i know that aint rly teamwork and all but, who doesnt like to lite up the light ^^

  • play for the name on the front, not the one on the back :P...

  • nice call XP Anyway i know its better to aim for the return but getting the goal is always cool

  • but the thing is you see from your eyes not the puck

  • wow ur a genious, do u shoot the puck from ur eyes?

  • But the puck is

  • goalies glove is too high, keep it mid range with blocker, then u can quickly pull ur hands upwards for higher shots than you can drop your hands down and keep track of the puck...

  • Comment removed

  • Shoot for the nads. You can't go wrong either way.

  • Who wants to net one in the bottom 2 two corners it always feels good to shelf one

  • Agreed dude.

  • lol fake a shot he drops 4 butter fly then go high... cant fake when shooting low...

  • visit shottec . com to improve your shot for the upcoming hockey season!

  • holy shit thats my rink

  • you look like brett farve

  • What about when the Goalie hits the Butterfly position? Should we still keep shooting low? Ya Failure.

  • He never said to shoot low all the time. You gotta learn what the goalie does when he makes his saves.. This is just showing us where to shoot if he was a stand-up goalie.

  • dude your a failure he talked about that ( try to make a rebound and when the goalie goes down make a rebound and then shoot it over him

    failure

  • I'm a shooter, not a crowding the fucking net garbage goal homosexual like yourself. Unlike you, my job one day won't be working as a cum mop at my families local gloryhole, while your mother and sister service more blackrods than you can count.

Ya failure, this guy is wrong. ROOF PUCKS on your first attempt, and don't worry about chipping in a rebound, if your uncoordinated bear league goaltenders even give those to you anymore?

Not sure what you play besides WoW, fucking gay ass failure...

  • lol dude chill i was just making a point that u wer wrong on that comment and when i said ur a failure am sorry then BTW buddy i dont play wow it was last year i focus on my studies and playing hockey for me is not to get anywhere in the nhl or even juniors i dont care about this kind of stuff what i like is having fun and btw am 14 so its okay if i play video games sometimes no??

  • and btw just so u know am in bantam bb i know its not good i know ur better and ur in midget AAA or junior something aaa idk just telling ya

  • It's all good. I was just trying to be annoying. Sorry for bothering you. I consider you a friend. Any friend of Hockey, is a friend of mine.

Friend.....you are not teh Failure you first appeared to be. Now you are sounding smart, and what should I say? "You're not smart!" well then I would be a liar. I can tell you're probably a good Goalie. Be careful, you're a pretty smart kid, if you try you might be in the NHL someday.

    Cheers

  • Yea i play varsity hockey and i know where the goals happen. Yes a top shelf looks good, so if its there then hit it, but most the time goaltenders dont give you much room up there. Plus you look like a dumbass when you go for high shot and miss the net. So keep it low on 1st shot especcially if som1 is there to tip it.

  • can someone explain to me why i should keep it low if most of the goalies im shooting at go to there. it just i have never seen a goalie stay up when i have shot top right and left they go down to there knees 75 percent of the time

  • thats because your an absolute bender and play in a bender league where the goalies don't know how to play

  • If you're noticing a goalie's tendencies to go down on every shot, then fine - keep doing what works, but even if goalies are more butterfly-on-every shot nowadays, if you have a half-decent speed on your shot, shooting the puck low is STILL faster than the time it takes for the goalie to drop down...less sexy than a high shot of course but it gets the job done

  • what goalie stands up to make a save?

  • look at my vid i need help shooting

  • i like shooting just below the blocker, if you shoot glove side its easier for a stoppage in play and easier for the goalie etc.

  • please look at my vid i need help shooting and you seem good

  • best place to shoot is just high enough to clear the leg pads from a butterfly position. I always shoot mid/low left or right post.

  • OK, whatever he says, hes wrong, if u just slide the puck along the ice, the goalies butterlfly is going to stop 99 out of 100 shots. if you shoot it up, the goalie has to worry about which way you are going to go, but with on the ground, it doesnt matter which way you go, the butterfly has it. Realize this probably doesnt really work, because they didnt even show the shot...

  • the shooters eye..nice

  • i do not like that stick i have it and ew

  • k when this fucker played hockey the goalies had no style and fucking flung there leg high in the air to save a shot... Now a' Dayz all fucking goalies drop down in butterfly no metter where the fucking shot goes

  • yeah...if the goalie didn't drop AT ALL and stood still like a statue then yes what this guy is saying would be true. but as you said, most goalies drop, and those leg pads cover almost all of the bottom of the net. when a goalie drops butterfly the best option is to go high.

  • haha okay NHL09 gamer boy haha, well take your word...

  • is that kelowna bc?

  • i play goal, and most shots i go to butterfly even if the shots high witch causes my glove and blocker to drop so tht opens a bitch load of space the the uper corners

  • in the butterfly

  • hahahahaha except for the fact that a goalie has 100% low net coverage

  • there looked like more room high both wayes

  • wow delete this video anyone who actually plays hockey knows a lot more then this old fuck who played back when there were no helmets or pads for that sake

  • shoot about 18 inches above the ice blocker side. that is the five and a half hole. it is a really hard spot for a goalie to quickly reach because when in butterfly it is under the blocker and above the pad. great place to score, got 70 goals with it in 2 seasons.

  • That's clearly a lie. 70 goals in 2 seasons is pretty good. You're trying to tell me that you counted every time you scored in that spot and only those shots generated 70 goals in 2 seasons? This is obviously ridiculous.

  • no, in 2 seasons i scored over 170 goals. but the majority was in the five and a half hole.

  • No you didnt... maybe a 170 points, but not goals

  • okay you dont know me so back off

  • i agree with halo, im a peewee teir 1 goalie and we played 22 season gamed and with all the tournys we finished with 64 games. and 55 is the avg games including tournys for minor hockey, so ur telling me u got pretty much 1, 2, or 3 goals a game??

  • yes actually, i am.

  • haha, stick to guitar hero bud

  • ya sure. freaks like you who judge people because of a user name ae what makes youtube suck.

  • actually i clicked ur channel and abunch of Guitar Hero vids came up, thats y im judging u

  • oh ya, so obviously someone cant enjoy a sport and a video a game at one time. gee, why didnt i know that. >.>

  • thats not the point, my point is, theres no way u score 1,2 or 3 goals a game

  • so apparently somebody cant be a good player nowadays (and we play 70 games a season, not including tournaments).

  • its called a hat trick and it happens every now and than

  • hes saying he gets a goal everygame, i highly doubt that

  • what he said is true, but when you look at how much space is left for the puck to in if you don't lift it at all, there isn't that much either. if the goalie is in a butterfly, put it right above his leg. he'll have a hard time reaching especially with his stick hand at that spot.

  • yeah but if you shoot fast enough it will go through

  • and most people only shoot top corners if the goalie is in his butterfly

  • this guy needs to get hit honestly hes using a stick from like 2002 he obv. knows alot about hockey.

  • So people's talent is measured by their gear? Model rich boy here.

  • True that man. For example, Martin St. Louis uses an older model of the Easton Synergy ST, and he's one of the best forwards in the NHL. Skill cannot be judged or justified by equipment.

  • I know this kid is one of those faggots you played with in peewees whose parents were loaded and always bought him the best shit even though he sucked. One of those kids that looks nasty but just blew so hard when he got on the ice.

  • ahh you made no sense, and how is someone a "faggot" when you have never even met them

  • AllNatural1625 u cant just go call people fags because there rich and for the record, Ur Equipment doesnt matter its all prefrence, and how ppl use the gear

  • HEY! i think i played in that rink the other day..

  • 5 hole shots are way harder to stop, and there is tons more rebounds

  • i think this is helpful

  • im a goalie and personally i like it when people shoot lower than higher dont get me wrong i can stop the higher shots but i love low cus i can block and dont rebound them cus wen i butterfly i extend i dont kick wen u extend it prevents the puck rebounding to the middle it rebounds to the edge and hopefully to a defender

  • dont you find that its harder to stop a tip or a low shot through traffic?

  • yah

  • im a forward and personally most of the goals i score are either through the five hole or low blocker side, when you get older and goalies get bigger it becomes much harder to score top shelf and it becomes harder for goalies to shut the five hole quickly.

  • Holy wow thanks your soo right ;)

  • holy shit...ive been playing for 17 years now and never noticed that

  • Great Help, Thanks.

There is the concept of grip it and rip it. Pavelsky makes most of his shootout goals by reaction time If youre faster on the trigger than the goalie you score.

  • thank it helped

  • thanks

  • i like to do a simple head deek and the top shelf it
