Modern oboe and harpsichord sound great together. I've heard baroque oboes playing Saint-Saens and bands of baroque instruments playing the Beatles and Dixieland. So why not a baroque flute and piano? Whatever the instrument combination, if it sounds nice, more power to you!
CPE Bach is actually from a period called the "Galante," which deliberately avoided a lot of things that were done in the Baroque era (such as extensive polyphony and excessive ornamentation) and focused on a melody, simply accompanied. This period contains people like CPE Bach, Christian Pezold, and the early piano works of Mozart. It was a reaction to the excesses of the Baroque era.
Well, to each his own. It seems to me that if played on a modern flute, it should be accompanied by a modern piano. I love wooden flutes, but I don't plan to stop playing centuries' worth of music until I can afford to buy one. :)
Wooden flute is just lovely - Barthold Kuijken is a favorite of mine for the style.
And while I have changed some of my ideas on style since this recording, I think that playing this music on modern instruments is a perfectly acceptable practice, if done mindfully.
do you have two people actually accompanying you? or do you have a recording of the accompaniment of the piano and violin? if so, where did you get it?
do you know of any youtube videos that has this song but for an orchestra arrangement? m teacher gave it to us today and im not sure how the tempo is supposed to go. well anyways great playing!!!
beautiful. i love it. now i know the right way to play it.
im 13 and i have to play this for my solo and ensemble contest. i know i won't be able to play it as well as this is played. i sincerely believe ur a wonderful player

My sweet dear, please do look into play the wooden flute for all music written for this period. the same for the piano.
the bassoon saves it. Otherwise it is nothing more than hospital music coming from everywhere and no where.

I'll play this piece on December at a recital, now I only start to play it. I love this piece, I hope I could play it well :)

i also played this piece last night at my recital (:
at about the same tempo. it's such a beautiful piece!
i really only have one piece of constructive criticism.
you make it a little choppy. don't articulate so much. it's supposed to be connected even though there are breaks in the slurs.
otherwise, beautifully played (:

It sound beautiful. I think it's a lovely piece. I would be playing flute, but my mother doesn't like that instrument. :(

Because there is no slow movement, I chose a slower tempo for the first to provide more contrast between the two movements.
I believe it is usually played too fast - it should be light, and not frantic. It was a choice, and was done on purpose.
