  • tune low,play slow

  • Good shit dude!

  • What tuning are you in??? Thanks.

  • @LeapinLarryLipschitz - All I can say for certain is that it's Drop-D.

The real song is tuned a full step down and then Drop-D (whatever that name would be). However, my guitars seem to rarely be tuned exactly to standard (or 1/2 step down or full step down). I'm usually *close* to one of those but rarely dead on ;-)

  • @FussenKuh Drop D tuning is just tuning the E string down to D.

Now, full step down tuning makes the strings go (from low to high) D G C F A D.

My point is, it can't be both Drop-D and a full step down. It's only one of them and in this case it's a full step down, NOT Drop-D.

  • @Fursasher - If you want to get all technical about it, then yes, you're correct, I can't really have full-step down guitar in a Drop-D tuning ;-)

However, I stand by my 'layman's termed' Drop-D, Full Step down. The guitar is tuned down a Full Step then has had the low string dropped again. Essentially, I have things (roughly) tuned to C G C F A D. So, technically, I guess *maybe* that makes it a Drop-C tuning? I couldn't tell you the name is correct ;-)

  • @FussenKuh That's Drop-C :)

  • Cool, man. Sounds good acoustic. Miss COC, been a long while since they've been around. Southern bluesy-metal at it's best.

  • @oneaware

Oh yeah- does anyone remember Days of the New? Now I see whose song they copied, just played acoustic.

  • @oneaware - Yeah, I remember them (even have a few covers of their songs on my channel). And, yeah, I can see some similarities between the sounds of the bands.

And, *technically* DotN are still around but for the last 5-7 years it's really just been their lead singer, Travis Meeks, with random musicians playing live shows.

  • @FussenKuh Was really just referring to "Touch, Peel, Stand", but yeah Meeks was always one of the guys who seemed unjustifiably arrogant. COC I hold in much higher regard, such a wide variety of influence and sound.

  • thats just the opening riff where it goes up to the 10th! but it does sound cool acoustic! nice work

  • I love this tune. Real simple but really evokes America's South - where COC are from. When you get make music that reflects where your from, that's when you know your good.

  • I don't know if this is Southern music or if you make it Southern music. For example, if I heard this tune I don't think I would be like "hey, that's southern rock".

  • @jdmusic07

For me being in England - I have to say that it does evoke the South.

I don't know it just does, same goes for NOLA and Pantera too. Maybe it's because I'm not an American.
