The Metro Conference kicked out Va Tech and some others in order to form Conference USA Tech floundered around for the good part of 10 years trying to get into a conference until they joined the BIg East In Basketball. The Metro was a Basketball conference. Louisville and Memphis suffered for it. Not until 4 years ago.Mephis is finnaly coming out of it and Louisville is still suffering.
I grew up in, and still live in Tampa, so I've followed USF since its Sun Belt Conference days. The Metro needed the Bulls--along w/Charlotte (fmrly. UNC Charlotte) and VCU--after the South Carolina and Fla. State defections in addition to the formation of the Great Midwest. W/O the Metro, USF wouldn't be a BIG EAST member today. I loved the Metro back in the day.
So it may seem. However, the Metro was short-lived itself and was, at least for college basketball fans, a visitor from heaven. Fans of Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis often reminisce about the league and smile.
I agree. This is the song that was song at my infant son's funeral. I am nauseated at the notion that anyone equates the loss of a football league to the loss of a child.
The metro was on the verge of being a major BCS conference in the early 90s. People dragged their feet and it fell apart. In its day though the metro was way ahead of its time.
I agree this is for parents who have lost babies and children .Has nothing to do withthe mwtro conference

this beautiful song is a christian one devoted to lost infants/babies/children, it doesn't seem appropriate for the metro conference!!

@soccerjock27 It was primarily a basketball conference. Football ended up leading to its demise...

A fitting tribute to what was a very good conference and would have been an unbelievable football conference.

I always thought of the Metro as a major, even in its post-1991 state when it had to raid the Sun Belt Conference, getting VCU, USF and Charlotte.
