Same thing happened to my friend. We were in the gym and i saw one of my girl friends wailing on some chick and he pulled out his phone, recorded it and put it on youtube. All they did was make him take it off and gave him 2 days in school suspension. What they did to this kid was fucked up and don't even get me started on the shirt thing. They had no right whatsoever to even threaten to punish kids for wearing those
How stupid. The school could have gotten pissed because a video of girls fighting would be bad publicity, but they could have just told him to remove it and suspend him for a few days or something. Why punish kids who are wearing those shirts? I just don't really get it. Thank goodness my school wasn't that anal.
fucken dumb ass school faggots think the can run a students lie through the fucken internet at home , its called the right to privacy fags, these ignorant ass hole fucks from schools piss me off thinking they are being involved in a students life, well they are, by fucking it up
@FLAREflare14 Listen up faggot... Your probably still in middle school. and it sounds like your promoting violence. I agree that schools can be unfair with the little stuff but what about the rights to privacy of the girls. its flowing through the internet. This guy should have been suspended. not for 10 days but he should have been suspended.
@FLAREflare14 Look here you turd, you can find tons of fight son youtube, now you going to tell me that all schools should start bitching too, and you call me a middle schooler, wtf does that make you, fat ass piece of shit thinking your some sort of internet superman, i agree on the part of privacy of the girls, but wtf can you do when it was recorded, go to each person and ask for the damn video to be deleted, I have the right to my own opinion which doesnt require your bitching.
pure instinct? to pull out your camera and start recording 2 people engaged in a fight? most people would say the instinct would be to break it up, but that takes courage, something I'm afraid this deluded kid will never have.
@crazydude980 I have broken up fights before yes. True, there have been people even older than me just standing around watching, not knowing what to do, so I suppose pure instinct was probably a little much taken in my context as well. This has received way too much publicity given how trivial the whole thing is, and yet here we are discussing it still.....
That school has a problem. This kid is being punished because the school doesn't want to look bad. If the school has girls punching each other up in the hallway, the school is deficient in not providing a safe environment where conflicts are resolved peacefully. Posting such videos is precisely what is needed to 'encourage' the school to get its act right. This kind of censorship is reminiscent of the police objecting to videoing of them in action.
10 days is to much for that? I once got suspended for 10 days for missing a tardy detention. Which no one informed me that I had. Love public schooling.
What are we supposed to be deterring here? Taking and posting videos, or kids smashing each other's heads in? I want the system to deter the latter, not the former. Allen's video exposes that the school does not adequately protect students from violence. The school needs to do a better job policing its hallways, and less time trumping up rules to punish someone for taping and posting a video of it.
@seve2u The bottom line is, you are wrong. It explicitly states in provisions to the constitution that there is a distinct difference between freedom of public speech and freedom of school speech. Case in point: Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U.S. 844 (1997). Look it up. This is not unconstitutional. You know very well what we are deterring.
@seve2u If you think that kids should be able to walk around with a shirt that says "I HATE NIGGERS" in school because it is there constitutional right, then you should really rethink your own values. This boils down to the simple point that this incident is not violating anyone's rights. The student broke a rule, and paid a very minor penalty. 10 days suspension is nothing for promoting violence among his peers.
@WhiteBeltAcademy What a load of politically correct hyperbole and crap you spew. No one was touting racial epithets, or anything else mildly offensive. Who was offended by "Free Allan"? Intellectually dishonest argument. Utterly baseless, like all the rest of your points. And precisely how is showing violence that Allan had no role in provoking, the promotion of violence. Again, PC hyperbole and utter garbage. If there is such a rule, it is unlawful and void. No one can outlaw reality.
@seve2u You are purposely missing the point. To call my point baseless is totally laughable. I clearly show you what I base my argument on. I think you are here just to argue for no reason now and trying to show off how many words you know. Vocabulary doesn't win arguments and court cases. Evidence and proof does. You haven't backed up your "claims" at all. You have literally said nothing in 6 or 7 posts, except that my points are wrong and baseless.
@ArT2Oo0 It's a deterrent. Same thing with laws in the real world. You still have criminals, but you have a lot less then you would with out them. Same concept here. People are held accountable for their actions. I'd love to hear the good that could come out of watching a girl getting her head kicked in.
Seriously, a fight goes down right in front of you and your first instinct is to grab your phone and record it so you can laugh about it or beat off to it later because it's two chicks? Why not be the good samaritan and pull the girls apart or go and get help and not be a total douche?
wake up people, remember your rights, and practice them. stop letting our rights slip away from us without us even knowing, were the ones ultimately doing it.
We have the freedom of speech. But people take it away, and I think we have the rights to post whatever on Facebook. Have some privacy and what not. But better yet, post it on Youtube. Youtube FTW!!!

honestly the only thing allen should have been punished for was having his phone out in school. Being a residing student at North Olmsted High School, I know that the school has many other serious problems that they ought to be addressing instead of wasting their time focusing on something so incredibly insignificant. The principal is a boy scout and should continue on his search for a new job, since he claims NOHS is too much to handle for him...oops you didnt hear that from me.
