I am no graphics whore, but can anyone who owns this really notice the difference between this and the PS2 versions? I have both MGS2 and MGS3 and i want to know if this really warrants a £30 price tag to re-buy the same games that i already have. (I know this includes PW and MG,MG2 but for the other 2 games is there a HD graphical difference)
@flynnneil88 I don't have it, but I can tell you as someone who owns Shadow Of The Colossus original PS2 and HD remaster, the remaster def looks better and runs smoother. I've also seen God Of War 2 HD remaster and it looks significantly better than its PS2 counterpart. I imagine it'd be the same case here with the MGS collection. Does it warrant re-buying them? Depends on how much you loved them. For me: FFX, RE4, SOTC, DMC1&3, GOW1&2, ZOE2, and the MGS collection are hd remaster must haves.

I finished MGS3 , got the SAA , some camos , and the Patriot after starting a new game i suddenly noticed that I lost everything else ( such as AK , Thermal Goggles or Moisin Nagant )
My friend lost my mgs3 and still has my mgs1... He got too pissed to play 2 and doesn't have the guts to play metal get for the nes.... Peacewalker was a disgrace 4 rocks and rising sucks..... I'm a mgs king....
What they should've done was converted the Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes that they had/have for GameCube to the PS3 and 360 and included that in the HD collection, and put the converted Peacemaker in a side-limited-edition-bundle. Or the other way around. It would be great for the fans and would've been a wealthy idea for Hideo Kojima. Pure brillance. Like if you agree. :)
Actually I don't agree. I have Twin Snakes and a Gamecube, so I much prefer the three games they have given me in the hd collection. Especially as they're sure to make a standalone remake of MGS1 for the next anniversary anyway. Which will be better than merely upscaling to HD. Besides, I think Nintendo might have an objection to TTS being used.
Remember how ALL of his trailers used to be these awe-inspiring, vivid eye-grabbers that had like 3 additional scenes at the end that made you go "wtf?". Cyborg Ninja, the return of Liquid and Rex (? Ray) in MGS2, the jungle features of MGS3, and the return of young Snake in MGS4's trailer? This one was kind of boring really. They lost the humor too. Kojima used to show a lot of comedy with these trailers, but here, it's just "redo- IT'S IN HD YAY!"

@samuelrosenbalm In an interview he said that he had plans to re-master the original but it would take a long time because changing the game into HD with new controls ruins "The feel" of how it was to play the game over a decade ago. I grew up with this saga, I've lost count of how many times I finished MGS 3 .. I know how my pockets every single corner in this game, every single step of The End, every single sentence in cutescene .. I cried more than once at the end.

Excited about this but why not put the first one on too? Even if its the same graphics! People like me who haven't played the first one will be confused about the storyline. At least the japenese version has an option to download the first one with the game. I've got the slim ps3 too so there's no chance of me playing the first one.

Mgs1 is already on psn. I just don't like how this hd collection soiled its amazing name by being released on xbox, I know it's mainly because of mg rising, but hd collections are ps3's thing. And won't this be on more than one disc for xbox?
They should have included portable ops because a lot of people missed out on that game as it was actually canon and does a lot to advance the character of big boss.
Finally, MGS2-3 and PW on 360. I hated it when Sony had the monopoly.
I know the Japanese like it in-house but seriously. I moved to xbox after I had a playstation, for a simple reason, it was better than the PS2 at the time, and is now cheaper, but offers just as much.

@Zombehz4lyfe well we are talking about a PS1 game, and HD version of a ps1 game is not worth because of the graphics, but guess what dude, kojima said that there is chance that they remake MGS1, but is not 100% sure because he doesnt want to change the gamplay, he just want to update the graphics, but we can't say for sure if that is going to happen.

@Zombehz4lyfe Other reason is most likely because the PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid can be downloaded on PSN. Perhaps that and MGS4 being SONY exclusives is the companies (Kojima Productions) way of thanking the fans who started on the PS1 (because it means that PS3 owners get all 7 of the Metal Gear games of the Snake era)
That's my guess anyway. Wishful thinking would be that a PS3/360 remake of the first game would be coming out for the 15th anniversary.
Having already downloaded Metal Gear Solid from the PSN Store and owning MGS:4 this is all I need to complete the main Snake/Big Boss story line without having to get my PS2 out all the time.

I have no idea. MGS: PO is just as big a part of the main story as the rest, considering it chronicles what happened in the '70s and the lead up to Peace Walker, and, eventually the rest of the series.
I know that the reason they didn't include Metal Gear Solid in this is because Kojima said if he'd upscale etc the game he'd want to change some in-game details.
Hopefully Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops will be available on the PSN, because I don't want a PSP just for that one game.

@jonizzio both Peace Walker and Portable Ops are part of the MGS universe. I dont know why they left ouf Portable Ops since its better than Peace Walker.

I have an Xbox 360, and I'll assure you that the PS3 is in no danger of losing its exclusives. In fact, the Xbox has lost more exclusives as of late, such as Mass Effect and Bioshock. Anyway, I haven't played the first MGS, should I still get this game?

@oModernGamer anyway its imposible for the 360 because Metal gear Solid 4 occupies blue-ray dual-layer, the equivalent of 50 GB, and the 360 only have's dvd dual-layer the equivalent of 8,4 GB.

I grew up with this saga, I've lost count of how many times I finished MGS 3 .. I know how my pockets every single corner in this game, every single step of The End, every single sentence in cutescene .. I cried more than once at the end.

Excited about this but why not put the first one on too? Even if its the same graphics! People like me who haven't played the first one will be confused about the storyline. At least the japenese version has an option to download the first one with the game. I've got the slim ps3 too so there's no chance of me playing the first one.

Finally, MGS2-3 and PW on 360. I hated it when Sony had the monopoly.
I know the Japanese like it in-house but seriously. I moved to xbox after I had a playstation, for a simple reason, it was better than the PS2 at the time, and is now cheaper, but offers just as much.
Glad to see MGS on xbox, huge fan. Been waiting a long time for this. :)
It's a shame they didn't include MGS1 and PO though. Oh well.

@Zombehz4lyfe well we are talking about a PS1 game, and HD version of a ps1 game is not worth because of the graphics, but guess what dude, kojima said that there is chance that they remake MGS1, but is not 100% sure because he doesnt want to change the gamplay, he just want to update the graphics, but we can't say for sure if that is going to happen.

@Zombehz4lyfe Other reason is most likely because the PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid can be downloaded on PSN. Perhaps that and MGS4 being SONY exclusives is the companies (Kojima Productions) way of thanking the fans who started on the PS1 (because it means that PS3 owners get all 7 of the Metal Gear games of the Snake era)
That's my guess anyway. Wishful thinking would be that a PS3/360 remake of the first game would be coming out for the 15th anniversary.

Having already downloaded Metal Gear Solid from the PSN Store and owning MGS:4 this is all I need to complete the main Snake/Big Boss story line without having to get my PS2 out all the time.
Question: I've heard the HD Collection also comes with Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (The Gameboy games) can anyone confirm/deny this?

I have no idea. MGS: PO is just as big a part of the main story as the rest, considering it chronicles what happened in the '70s and the lead up to Peace Walker, and, eventually the rest of the series.
I know that the reason they didn't include Metal Gear Solid in this is because Kojima said if he'd upscale etc the game he'd want to change some in-game details.
Hopefully Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops will be available on the PSN, because I don't want a PSP just for that one game.

While im happy with the recent releases of HD versions of PS2 games,I would much rather see remakes of the PS1 games for PS3,Like what the Gamecube did with Resident Evil and MGS Twin Snakes,a remake of the original Metal Gear or MGS for PS3 would be great.Was a little disappointed too to hear that Silent Hill HD was not a remake of the PS1 original just HD releases of SH2 @ 3,im sure they will still be good games but graphically your not really getting a vast improvement.

I dont see why people are saying its should be a ps3 exclusive and hope xbox dont get metal gear solid 4, i am a missive fan of the series and have been since 1999 i was 6 when i first played MGS1 and fell in love with it straight away i even bought a ps3 just so i can play metal gear solid 4 and im a pc and xbox gamer. I guess what im saying is stop with all this Xbox vs Playstaion crap and hope that other gamers can grow to love this brilliant series. :)

@spellgalen808 i cant speak for everyone but for me i found the the 1st ones storyline to be the best plus it was the 1st MGS, I loved the 2nd one just not as much as the 1st, I hated the 3rd one but enjoyed the 4th. and from what ive seen of the new one i dont like it much it looks too much like an arcade shooter, but thats just me

@oModernGamer anyway its imposible for the 360 because Metal gear Solid 4 occupies blue-ray dual-layer, the equivalent of 50 GB, and the 360 only have's dvd dual-layer the equivalent of 8,4 GB.
