  • hey pleaaase reply , am do you have to clean out the paccaging? like how do you clean out the lipglosses ? :L or can you bring them back when they still have some product left?

  • @xOMizzAmyOx No, you do not have to clean out the containers.

  • the lady you went to probably was new and didnt know about it. but anyways that was mean she had to confiscate it!

  • u shuda gave them attitude i mean u cuda tried somewhere else! =O itz like they stole ur stuff thats mean

  • That is really stupid because you still bought the eyeshadow does it matter if you didn't finish it?

  • That girl lied! I took back 16 depotted shadows last week and they took them back and I got my lipsticks without a problem! You received terrible customer service.

  • i have never had an issue with returning a pan-less eyeshadow pot. anyone experiencing these issues needs to contact MAC right away & let them know you are being limited. i suggest emailing MAC customer service & either printing that email out or accessing it from your phone. they will tell you it is unacceptable for MAC employees to refuse your empties. so the next time you go in, you now have proof from MAC that they are to be accepting your empties, pan or no pan.

    They took your emptys!!wow

  • The plastic container is cheap. The metal pan is the expensive part. I work in the scarp metal industry and metal price has gone up a lot in recent years. But still, they have no right to confiscate your property.

  • ive always gone on a BUSY saturday to my mac store. they are so busy they dont even check! hehe

  • do u know if u have to be 6 of a certain kind or u can mix them (ex. 3 studiofix 3 fluidlines)

  • @SoChicbyLina You can mix your containers. They don't have to be all the same. Thanks for watching!

  • It's ridiculous ! It was a program made for recycling issues. It's as if they said; okay so now the viva glam money will go directly to us. It has lost its purpose !

  • thats true. i just buy those little silver tins and glue them in... hehe im a cheater! oh well they dont know

  • that sucks. i guess its because people depot them, and put them in a palette instead of using them up. that makes it a little easier to get a ton of free products :P

  • @graceisahurricane But you're still paying for it. And the potted shadows cost more than then pan shadows. Thanks for commenting!

  • Do you have to have the box it came with or just the empty containers? Also, does Studio Fix Fluid count as part of it, like the bottle it comes in? Thanks <3!

  • @DisneyElphie07 No need to have the box. Yes, the bottle counts as B2M. Next time you buy makeup from MAC, look inside the box. If it says B2M, you know you can recycle it.

  • does the label with the color have to be on the container as well??????????

  • @soulcandy24 No, you don't need the label. Thanks for watching!

  • @equus418 thanx

  • I took 12 heat depotted eyeshadow containers into MAC last week (April 2010) - without the pan - and got 2 free shadows - no problem

  • what if im still ussinnng the paaaan?!?! lol geez....i love that back to mac is doin that but seriously why be so stiff with it.

  • i guess im lucky my mac store doesnt even check my containers :)

  • yeah I just put empty pans back in them. I have extra empty pans from coastal scents that I wont use.

  • they CAN'T confiscate your containers you paid for the product and the containers therefore they belong to you

  • THE PAN HAS TO BE WITH THE CONTAINER??????? WHAT IF IT IS IN MY PALETTE???? I THOUGHT I WAS ONLY THE CONTAINER IM SO PISSED! :( (sry not at u)

  • Most take them with the pans. A few do not. You have to check with your store.

  • Wow. y MAC Counter dosent care if the pan is there or not.

  • ive explained to them that i've BURNT my e/s container and that the sides are melted, and they said it was okay.

  • My MAC doesn't care if they're burnt, melted, broken. They just want the metal pan in it. Thanks for commenting.

  • ugh, yeah. that's what they just told me.

that's ridiculous, cause i own SO much makeup... like, i don't just go through makeup fast.

and, im not gonna go spend money and wait for CS to deliever me pans..

    so stupid.

  • oh hell no....i would never have let her take my stuff...HOW RUDE of them to confiscate your stuff. Nope woulda been loud up in there! LOL sorry to hear

  • You can buy just the pans and glue them in the pots

  • I know. Thanks. But before you didn't have to.

  • dude, that's not cool that they confiscated YOUR property. ridiculous! they are not the makeup police.

  • it probably depends where you live. i live in the bay area and all the mac stores around here take them.

  • do they take then without the pans chuz i have 30 mac eyeshadows and im going to depot them! and i live rite next to oakridge

  • You should ask the store that you're going to. As you can see from people's comments here, so take them with or without the pans. Some people but empty pans and put them in. Thanks for commenting!

  • It depends on your local stores. If you read the comments here, some people live where their stores won't take them. My store went back to taking them b/c people complained. Some only offer free lipstick. Some offer free lipstick, lip gloss, or eyeshadow.

  • so, if i depotted my blushes will they still take them or no?

  • same concept, the pan has to be in the container.

basically they want everything back, but the product itself.

  • They know it's a monopoly, that everyone will still buy their products because they are popular and awesome. But how much money do we spend just to get the one free? They still make money. Thanks for commenting.

  • Same thing happened to me today also. I took in 18 containers too. They said since I had replaced the pans, that I was trying to cheat the system. They really reamed me like I was trying to steal from them. I told her I brought them in to help the enviroment. Now I will just throw them away. I was embarrassed. I wrote MAC a letter as soon as I got home. As much as we all spend there....It's insulting.

  • why that is so insulting it is not even funny. No matter what, there are ways to "cheat the system." I do not do back2mac as I only use their lipsticks/lipglass, and they take forever to end. However, my friend is huge on pigments, and she buys pigments, puts them in different containers, and takes the pigment jar back. I do not see how this is "cheating," we buy the products anyway. It is not like we robbed them, then took them back.

  • I had the same feeling.

  • i think it all depends on the place you go to. My local one in Canada, the lipstick, i had broken, the cap was missing, they still took it back and said it was fine. i also heard that LE all pieces counts as one, but the lipsticks, each counts as one on its own at the one i went to, that's today, so many days after the supposed change of rules. So i still think it depends of where you go for the exchange of free lippie:)

  • They have gone back to their old ways and are accepting depotted compacts. Too many people were complaining.

  • I just went last night and they would not take my back to mac depotted eyeshadows.. i am so bummed. i would have bought them in pallet form had i known.

  • Try another location or complain. The store I went to is taking them back again! Hey, we have the same great name!

  • that is soo stupid! they have no right at all to confiscate your containers! haha i would be totally peeved off

  • it depends on where you go... I still depot and return

  • I thought it has always been 6 B2M for your eyeshadow/lipstick/lipgloss Hmmmmm maybe Im just slow

  • They weren't taking depotted containers for a while. It had to have the metal pan in them. Now they're taking them again.

  • That totally sucks! I can't believe that they confiscated them. Oh hell no!

  • They've changed back to the other way--they're taking them again...

  • I think they were just being fucking rude and bitchy to you!

  • LOL

  • well great video cuz i was wondering the same thing..about deppoting and then tryen to get a free product...good to know rejection CAN happen!!!

  • Thanks for commenting! I went back to claim my free shadows b/c this was bugging me. And, they gave it to me no questions asked b/c they said other customers were getting angry :)

  • well she shouldn't have confiscated them, they were your containers, u should have tried to go to another mac counter

  • I saw a video on youtube from a girl doing her haul. She is from the same state as me, and she said she turned in 72 containers at once! I texted her and asked her where she went. A few weeks ago, I decided to go back and told them the owed me 2 eyeshadows from the confiscated containers. They happily obliged.

  • good for you

  • They said they weren't going to be so strict anymore but it the policy change did come out from corporate headquarters.

  • Some Mac counters really stink with the Customer Service.

  • You think?!

  • No need to be sarcastic!! Was trying to be nice and supportive.

  • Thank you for your support but I was agreeing with you in a light-hearted manner. That's the problem with text. No need to take YouTube too seriously.

  • That saleslady probably just wanted to get your freebies for herself...that sux!

  • I work for mac and there has been no rule change, you obviously just got a total idiot who served you. if i were you i would complain. the containers dont need to be intact because the are going to be disassembled during recycling. these will be turned into rubber products EG mouse mats or the rubber surfacing in childrens playgrounds. they will not be used again by mac as mac uses only virgin plastics.

  • Thanks for this info. could you somehow have your manager(s) look into the store at Ala Moana, Honolulu, HI? Also, if you read other viewer comments, they have experienced the same and they're not in HI.

  • i hope your one of the nice sales people, where i go, they are really really rude

  • I've read about people on specktra having this problem with different MAC counters and stores. Some counters take them without any problem. I always call before heading to different MAC counters/stores to see which ones take depotted shadows.

  • Hey! Where have you been? :) Well, you know how limited I am being here in HI. Not much MAC counters so not much to call. Thanks for your comment. And, post some new videos, damn it! LOL

  • lol...school took up more time than I had expected along with getting my portfolio set up for my NCSA interview...but new videos are on their way! :D

  • Well, I am glad to know that you are still alive! LOl

  • That was miserable of them to take them from you, it is still your property since you paid for them. She should have given you the containers and given you the option to return them with the pans when they were finished. I would definitely have asked for the manager on that one. Sorry for you experience :(

  • Yeah, well, I wasn't thinking at the time. Thank you for watching, commenting, and subscribing! Let me know if you have any questions ;)

  • Wow! That sucks. Thanks so much for the info!

  • hmmmm.....sounds fishy to me b/c i took mine back and had no problems....and what right would they have to confiscate them...they are yours, u purchased them..sounds like maybe they might have taken them for themselves...u need to call CS to confirm that

  • well according to other YouTubers, they experienced similar responses from their MAC store. Mine were busted open and the tin pan were missing. Did yours still have the pans?

  • No, b/c i need them to be in the pans in oder to put them in the palettes

  • Some YouTubers have told me that this practice is mainly on the West Coast. Where do you live? They took my containers b/c they said that I couldn't take them anywhere not even to the MAC at MACY's. So I let them have it.

  • i live on the East Coast but i really think you should still try customer service....but just a thought

  • you should have kept it anyway n' recycled it yourself! were they rude about it? that MAC store sucks! why should they get back their containers.. LET THEM LOSE MONEY! =\ sorry that you had to go through that...

  • I totally agree with you!!! They have no right to do that...

  • mac is in business.. ofcourse they will deny .. they want to sell sell sell.. not give away free stuff ... those promotions are just there to get customers and to show they are doing enviorment favors etc .. its ALL CRAP

  • I know they are in business. But, I always try to convince the salesperson to give me the free eyeshadow in pan refills not compacts cuz I don't want to pop them out. I had 30+ containers saved over the years through PURCHASING BEFORE I became a MACPro member in 10/07, and this I explained. They could've honored mine.

  • I know .. sad thou..

  • ya that heppend to me too (im in canada) they still took it but warned me for next time

  • That stinks! That is just wrong. Why would they change the rules? ARGH....thanks for the info.

  • I had no idea :( sorry to hear that. So they took all of your pots?

  • Yes, they took all of my depotted containers and gave me back others so that I can still save for the 6.

  • What do you mean save for the 6? They have no right to take your pots away!!!

  • They have a recycle program called Back to MAC. If you save 6 containers, you can exchange them for a free eyeshadow, lipstick, or lipgloss of your choice. They confiscated my containers that were depotted, but gave me back my bottle and lipsticks so that I could still collect them until I get 6. Hope this makes sense ;)

  • Yes hun, i know about back to MAC programs, unfortunately here they will only give u lipsticks, but anyways even if ur pots were in a very bad condition , they have no righ to take them away from you..that is unfair!!! Thanks for answering me ;)

  • yuppers.. it happened here too... i got denied at a pro store and at the reg mac store. if there are no metal pans, they will not accept it..:( boo hoo....

  • So Far, we havent had problems here in the East Coast - however, little by little, people are experiencing this in the West Coast. Some parts of Cali (south) and AZ. Northern still takes the pots. What I suggest -- buy the empty tin pans from Stars Makeup Haven and glue the empty to the depotted plastic. The pans costs cents compaired to a $14 lipstick you loose, right?

  • Good idea!

  • koren you are so brillant!!!! hahaha in the face of those mean girls at the mac counter taken ppls emtpy pots!

  • that's genius! thanks for the tip! but doesn't part of the pan get damaged in the depotting process?

  • No, the pan stays perfectly in tact. BTW, I went back to MAC to claim my 2 free eyeshadows that the owed me after hearing that another girl took 72 containers back and they honored her. They said they went back to original rules b/c a lot of loyal customers were getting upset.

  • oh that's freat news! yay you just made my day :)

  • Yeah I heard this recently too that all of the stores are supposed to start following this.

  • I understand that they may lose $ if people bought and depot and gave it back. But last week, I was trying to convince the salesperson who gave me the 3 free that I wanted pan refills not the whole damn thing b/c depotting is such a mess.

  • you know at the mac store i go to the girl *manager* suggested the refill pans and a pallet bc the pots take up so much room . . . its a shame not all the mac girls (boys) are that nice
