  • is he really playing ,he missed some strums at 1:49

  • I'd like to enter in the video and say to him to not take that car in that day... a so talented and innovative guitarist.

  • @noelmeehan I'm with you brother, Hedges didn't deserve to suffer the way he did, for sure.

  • magical. Too bad about the pants

  • @dwsinclair i love th trousers.. :D :)

  • WONDERFUL!!!

  • I am stunned...

  • man. he really felt the music he played. you can always tell by the look on his face. this man never did drugs never hurt nobody never did anything wrong. rest in peace buddy!

  • One of the best renditions of this Beatles classic. Most performers merely copy the original version.......but not Michael Hedges. He makes the song his own & what a great accompaniment to his incredible vocals.

  • @2666ification why would you talk about yourself like that bro? c'mon you cant be THAT gay...

  • @2666ification

    You sound intelligent....

  • @2666ification The future of American right here, folks! Step back and bask in all its flawless majesty!

  • Brilliantly eccentric, the world needs more of this type of dude

  • Man, what a performance! I never knew he did this song. It just shows the depth of the performer that he was. Thank you.

  • Simply amazing. As a fellow guitarist, I can totally appreciate the depth of Hedges.

The world has lost something very rare. :(

  • Why do so many great talented musicians die? Your inspiration lives on. RIP.

  • First time I can relate to this song!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you for waking me back up! nancy who cleams houses and what not.

  • Great stuff, but they should have put a hint of reverb on his vocal. It's been Michael Hedges night on my YouTube. :)

  • thank you !!

  • Truly great

  • wow!

thank you so much for uploading this masterpiece!

  • Only Hedges can pull off the dog collar with the space helmet. Freakishly talented space traveller, world class fruit loop...dearly missed. The world of music is much more boring in his absence. RIP my brother.

  • I don't think Michael is really gone, he just was re-assimilated into the Borg collective, sure enjoyed him for his short time here on Earth.

  • 1:40 Wake up, cameraman! Put the J down and do your job!!

  • Just discovering Hedges. Envy me my journey.

  • wow. just ran across this video...amazing. i was and have been a fan for 25 + years and was lucky enough to have seen him live 4 times in concert. unbelievable!! I miss your voice and guitar Michael. He is sitting on a cloud with his HARP guitar and shakin up the angel world with his music.

  • Even though he left us early, grateful to be able here this.

  • F'in Catalina Wine Mixer!

  • Christ, he sings as well.

  • I saw him twice in 97. How can something so great end? I got to talk with him. He was a nice guy and my personal favorite on guitar. I miss him.

  • fuckin hedges. i cant tell if i like this or aerial boundaries more

  • Wow, I was at this show. Thanks for posting. So sad we lost him so young--a really unique and visionary artist.

  • Just getting into this guy's stuff thanks to a musical friend of mine & I'm loving his style of playing & arrangement!! He will be alive at my place for a long time from now on.

  • I'm a fan of Hedges music but haven't listened to him in a long time and had never heard this cover. Wow!!! What a treat. Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • 2 people are physically retarded.

They love this they just dont have the motor skills to hit the thumbs up.

  • Would have love to have had the chance to see him live...

  • Hell YEAH!

  • Wow! I had to replay 3:18 The high notes he hit were incredible! Man he makes that Lowden sound LUSH! Great arrangement.....he was a genius.

  • Just discoverd this guy today and find out he passed that is sad ,he was a great musician!

  • came to this vid by accident or maybe for some unknown reason, but im glad i did this is amazing. Reminds me of Travis Meeks of Days of the New, with his guitar playing.

  • @sawdoff1100 Urgh, don't bring Hedges down to that level.

  • @psychonavigator to each his own, i'm sure your older than me so you would be more into Hedges. I was only 10 years old when he died, so excuse me if i don't know everthing about him. Travis is my favorite musician alive and for you to make a jack ass of a comment, good for you. Try opening your mind instead of your mouth.

  • @sawdoff1100 Jackass of a comment? Really? Here's one for you. I'm sorry that your standards are so low that you'd find him of all people out there to be your favorite musician. Hedges was a very humble and innovative virtuoso. Meeks is an arrogant and run-of-the-mill songwriter whose pretentious nature ostracized everyone around him who helped him get up on top. He ran his mouth and talked shit like a little bitch will do, and burned his friends while trying to be 1991-era Chris Cornell clone.

  • woah, great arrangement

  • I was there along with my wife and my youngest son. That was the last of the three times we had the chance to seeing him perform. Michael Hedges forever!!. Thanks a million for the video.

  • the part at 3:18 is just simply mindblowing..... words cant describe the control he has.....

im in awe...... only 23.355 views... ive posted on facebook... cause tbh thats WAY to little when u look at what other videos got.... this man was genious and shud be celebrated.

  • Was not aware he could sing so well.....wow.

  • His incomparable talent exceeds any kind of extravagance.

He could have played up-side-down and still sound heavenly.

He's so unique and powerful playing his guitar that nothing could really distract the listener.

R.I.P. Michael and keep making fun with the Angels!

  • He's wearing a copper helmet, a scrub shirt, and capris...and after all that we have enough discussion of the dog collar to start a thesis? LOL I think Michael would've had a good giggle at that. He spoke in interviews about "dressing funny" (his words) as a means of self-exploration, and if he'd lived long enough he might have told us what he was exploring here.

But more to the point, so glad to find this video - I'd never heard him do this song...what a joy! Gorgeous as always.

  • The collar is more than likely a symbol of Michael's commitment to a union and a way of life, not a piss-take. Given his passion for life and for his performances I would assume that mockery was not on his adjenda. Just my 2c. tYG for this beautiful channel of Thy peace.

  • This man's guitar playing is hypnoticly amazing... the vibe/energy puts me into my own personal bubble ... his energy induces my own "space"... very VERY cool

  • Ya. Unbelievable...

  • wonderful

  • Michael was a talented guy, but I've never been a fan of this song. I don't really like this cover either. Very nice guitar playing. It's sad that he's not around anymore.

  • This is everything that is RIGHT with a cover song. So many "artists" just re-do a song without adding anything new. This is a totally new take on a great song done with class and talent. What a loss, I cried when I heard he died.

  • Brilliant.........

  • why's he wearing a dog collar and a shower cap? o_O

  • @mutley2209 The cap has a mic on it for vocals.

but the dog collar i can't explain... Hedges has always been an extra-ordinary cat.

  • @TWinterMusic one of his stranger fazes ey lol

  • @mutley2209 The dog collar is him being funny for when he sings the line "you were perverted." (The collar representing the bdsm culture.)

  • @mawalls2001 probably better off just making a joke or something rather than wearing the god collar lol

  • @mawalls2001 That's right! Great stuff! His comedic timing was perfect for the joke! So glad it was captured here!

  • His car ran off the road and rolled over an embankment. His body was not discovered for 4 or 5 days. Very tragic and an irreplaceable loss.

  • Man, this cat WAS music. Every now and then someone comes along who's capable of stepping into the stream, and it just flows through. This gives me chills, dog collar notwithstanding.

  • how'd he die?

  • @intheflesh316 car accident. tragic

  • Is that a dog collar? Why?

  • why not? thats prolly why. lol

  • vitimind, its Michael Hedges. You don't ask why. You just listen to the music he makes and let Michael Hedges be Michael Hedges

  • It was terribly distracting from the music. That's all. Looks like a gimmick.

  • I saw Michael 7 times...the last time he was hopping around on stage with a hippty-hop. It was VERY distracting.

  • that's just like... your opinion man

  • His girlfriend was a vet.

    : )

  • There are so many innovative, synnergistic musicians out there, but tragicly they never receive the exposure thier talent richly deserves. Michael's refreshing rendition of one of George's most evocative compositions is at the least a breath-taking experience. The emotion in his music rivals STV's passion and depths. Truly an amazing performance. Could you imagine where he might be if he were still among us...

  • same place he already is, our hearts.

  • know where i can get a copy of this entire show?

  • That´s ist pure Music. Own Style wounderful

Voice. A Clown in the best sense; touching our

Soul and heart. A Treasure here at this Place

but a big loss, not to have him here on earth

anymore. His Music inspired me so much.

I can not tipe it here in Words. Let the Sound

    be there. Yeahh.

  • whats on his head?

  • A hard hat / helmet containing his wireless vocal microphone.

  • I can't get enough of listening to this...

I would also like to know the tuning if anyone knows it??

  • No hassle man..

  • anyone know what tuning that was

  • You can NEVER go wrong with Michael Hedges' songs.

  • Wow...that was brilliant, even by his elevated standards.

  • It's a Lowden I think - Irish guitar. Check out nomadland for his rig including talk of the guitars he used throughout the years.

  • LOVE!!

  • still the most brilliant arrangement I've ever heard

  • AND the best performance. Double whammy.

  • triple grammy, soil yo jammies

  • @jazzpsalti You should listen to Eric Roche's version

  • @jazzpsalti He brought it to life for me,,,,,,,

  • Absolutely stunning.

  • Only the best from Michael Hedges! He was always happy to please the people! You did it again Type Three Secretion. Thanks!

  • Sweet, Michael is strutting a goetee!

    Type3 you reign supreme!
