I like how in this game the relationship between Yuri and Estelle is not shoved in your face, compared to the other games in the series. It's hinted at, especially in this scene, but it never really gets too obvious. To me, it seems that Yuri just wants to protect his friends, and to keep travelling with them as they are now, just like he said: It fits him. He is someone who doesn't show his feelings that well to other people, and has a darker side, which is shown very well in the game.

I think that throughout the whole game, these two are still trying to decide if they like each other. It's like a pre-relationship, you're still trying to decide if you want to go farther with that person. Really, there's not enough to hint that they love each other, but there's plenty to suggest that they might be able to have a relationship. Personally, I don't really see any chemistry between Estelle and Yuri. They care about each other, that's for sure.

I think this like most of Vesperia has the promise of romance but it mild in its attempts. I believe they did that on purpose, its the flavor of the game if you will.

However, several lines from this scene definitelly hearken back to the Luke/Tear night before scene. From 3:00 onward Estelle sounds a lot like Luke telling Tear that instead of being scared for what is to come he's happy in the moment. Yuri even reiterates what Tear does, that they'll both live on. Yuri's a nob most of the time. He only speaks normally with estelle because he like her, judith because she has big melons, and duke because duke can kick his ass. His character should have been so much better but they messed it up.

Their flirting was meant to be playful at best. Yuri acknowledges that Judith is hot and Judith liked to tease him. That's all. They never connected on a deep emotional level like Yuri and Estelle have. And Yuri asking Estelle to do what she wants is him respecting her wishes and wanting her to be independent. He was being supportive of her and trying to help her grow, not by encroaching her decisions with his own wants, but by letting her make her own choices.

The characters within game point it out, the interactions and moments themselves are hard evidence; the Abyss Complete Guide by Namco features and listed them as the official pairings of the game, along with AschxNatalia, VanxLegretta and CecillexFrings; and even the creators have stated that they're a couple.

I don't understand it either. There are hundreds of game/anime couples that express love without ever saying the words. Inuyasha's never come out and said he loves Kagome, but everyone with at least half of a brain knows that he does for a fact. Same with Kenshin and Kaoru from RK. You don't necessarily need words in order to convey and understand romantic intent or context(especially in this scene where it's practically beating you over the head that they have feelings for one another).

Just like tman2max said, Namco rarely makes anything official. Basically, if you think they're a couple, they're a couple and you can prove it; if you think they're just friends, they're just friends and you can prove it.
