  • I don't play lead stuff, so it took me about 3 weeks to master that at track tempo using alternate picking. Thanks again for the lesson, u rock!!!

  • @mitchdawson1 Glad to hear you nailed it :D

  • Awesome lesson!!!! Thanx.

  • POPOPOPOMPOMPOM! dude ur great!

  • The opening riff is basically a D run - and if you change the picking order - and slow it down a bit - you basically have John Denver's "My Sweet Lady" from mid 1970's!!!!!!!!! The ONLY difference is that "My Sweet Lady" ends with Dsus4 - then to G and C!!!!!!!

    GREAT finger positions!!!!!!

  • great ,, fantastic to learn, thank you,,,

  • Tks man... great lesson... greetings from Brazil!!!!

  • good sound

  • thank you

  • simply superb!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Theres tons of riffs I just cant get, but for some reason I got this one in few minutes.

  • Ahh I remember this video. This was the first thing i've learned to play about two years ago. Thanks for the lessons. and thanks for teaching me my first blues lick hahas.

  • GREATEST TEACHER EVER WOOT WOOOT !!!!!!!! thnx

  • Best lesson I've seen for that song so far. Was able to nail it within 12 minutes after watching your lessen. Great teacher.

What about cutting in some close-ups of l/r-hand?

  • wow

  • You know your stuff, but the important thing is you thought it very well!

Ive subscribed to you, cos you seem like a nice guy and i no ill learn off you! :)

  • Thank you very much . Im so happy that people like you tell me in Youtube the rhight way.

  • Awesome m8, but when i play it on my guitar it sounds kinda wrong, however when i play the high E twice and the G once, so the riff sequence would be D-E-G-E-D....., it sounds better, maybe im wrong cuz my guitar is a 6 steel string? everytime i listen to the song this sounds right, or probably i need to change my old D'adario strings :P please check and reply :D

  • It's the 12 string sound that almost makes it sound like you play D string then E string due to the extra octave string on the G string but picking wise it follows D G E G.

    If you have a go on a 12 string you'll hear it match :) alas I don't have a 12 string so it's a close as I can get with a 6 string ;)

  • Thank you very much m8, that was useful, one last note if i may, the Dsus2 part sounds like its played from low E to D, here u play it high E to D, 12 string effect again?

  • yeah, iirc it's the wound strings on a 12 string that have the octave above string whilst the B and top E are doubled

  • Blinkin' brilliant. Come hang at Guitar Insight.

  • Thanks for the great lesson. Wonderfully taught and practical. I Tried here and in couple moments I nailed it. Keep up the good work, man.

  • Well done. Accurate and taught very well. Keep up the good work.

  • Finally! Thanks a lot. I have been searching for a couple days to find someone that is teaching this song the correct way. My hats off to you for actually doing correct. I cant stand learning something if its not going to sound right.

You are very talented indeed. I on the other hand...well I need another 40 years or so of practice.

  • i prefer alternate picking because it helps with timing in the rest of the song.

  • that's good stuff dude. my nephew want's me to play this song over the holidays. i haven't played in over 15 years. i remember the intro now, but i can't remember the lead. thanks a lot.

  • Be patient and ... have fun! It should always be an enjoyable thing to do :).

  • Thanks. I started to learn some chords but it's to diffucult so I went back to the basics. I used to play piano but the only motivation i had was to save my skin and i couldnt read notes. Now, i'm back to the basics.

  • I have played 2 years and few months ago i just snapped and started learn ALOT songs so be patient that will be the key and chords, i use alot of barre chords theyr useful but pretty hard for starters so start learning them soon :) have a nice time with your guitar

  • Thanks, dude. I moved to the big city and had to leave the drum set at home. I've always wanted to play the guitar so I bought one last week. It just so happens that you've taught me my first song right here. Thanks, dude!

  • Is that an Olsen guitar??

  • It's a Fylde Magician :).

  • Thats perfect! -_- good job!!

  • Dude you are the man. I just got my guitar less than a week ago and your videos are so helpful. Do you have any other acoustic songs on here? All the others I checked on here were on electric.

  • I need a lil help, after the begining riff is played. Right after the you bend D string, what is the little riff played there? i dont get it :(

  • From about 05:43 in the video covers that part. You're picking a Dsus2 chord xx0230 starting on the high e string picking once, then picking the B string twice, the G string then the D string and back to the G string again. HTH

  • thanks man, i checked out the tabs on ur website and i can play it pretty good, anychance a lesson for the rest? keep up the awsome lessons!

  • thanks dude ur one of the est online techers ive ever used!

  • thanks dude. i really needed this. sucks it will be a lot harder for me cuz my guitar isnt a cutaway, so the first notes of the riff will be hard to pull off.

  • Thanks alot bud. Great lesson, its really helped me.

  • Thanks dude!

  • Thanks for that. your a great teacher, cheers Carl.

  • This was an awesome guide. My biggest problem is the fingering, and I think it is awesome that you showed--slowly I might add (=D)-- the proper fingering for this song.

  • there are many great players, but few are able to play well AND be an imformative tutor of the guitar!,this guy does both really well!, well done.

  • I have Learnt a Number of songs thats I always Loved and wanted to play, from this guy. His explanations work perfect and I cannot get enough of his lessons. Thanks.

  • yeah he's awesome

  • I've been working on this song and couldn't quite get the riff to work out. Thanks for the explanation. What a great video. I'm off to check out your others. Keep em coming.

  • shot bro pick it up in two nights keep it up.

  • I play bass, but I'm finding myself watching your videos because they're absolutely excellent. Even though I won't necessarily play the songs, the explainations of how you're playing them will be of benefit to my bass practicing.

So, to echo the rest of the crowd -- keep it up!

    Great song, btw.
