  • I love Ron Paul but a 16 minute ad for a 5 minute video is ridiculous bad taste...

that said ..check out the scene in "Birth of a Nation" when the KKK rides to the rescue and you will see where this scene was "borrowed". Same music. Same action. It's obvious the director was making a point about (1960s)racism and war once you see the two together.

This is my all time favorite scene in film..but I'm a war child.

I would have used Verdi Requims Dies Irae and tuba mirum if I was Col. Killgore

  • @stevenstreets3 it might interest you to know the flight of the valkyries song wasn't actually used in the score for birth of a nation, it was only added when the film was sold with a soundtrack on vhs or disk, traditionally there would be a little guy sat at a piano playing a completely different score for 3 hours... i dont think its necessarily a comment on racism though, more like your witnessing the bad guys as heroes retrospectively, as you would in birth of a nation.

  • @FullAhBeans fascinating thank you. your correct about the original being silent with live music. Most of the old great movie houses were built just to show that movie.

Apocalypse Now is my all time favorite movie. I saw it as a young G.I. in NYC when it 1st came out. 36 years later I understand it better every day. Especially in light of the recent Officers report critical about the afghan war so similar to Col Kurtz report the Pentagon brass that didnt like. Deja vu Monsieur?

  • God Bless the US

  • 0:21 R. Lee Ermey!

  • @Deavi783 That name sounds like royalty, are you royalty?

  • Holy hell, coppola made the godfather and this masterpiece, and this epic scene. lolz this is way too much genius for one human being.

Thumbs up if you wish coppola popped out masterpieces like he did in the 70's, our pathetic modern cinema sure could use it to inspire other artists.

  • @malows1234 sounds like someone hasnt seen the hurt locker!

  • @TheScotFusilier of course hurt locker is a great film, but lol apocalypse now is fling apocalypse now........ its coppola's crowning jewel. you gotta agree.

  • @LibertyRealm what about children's and woman's ?

  • @Theturkishlegend1453

    They can go fuck themselves

  • War War War. The only justified one is WWII.

  • @Theorockz2 You mean "Huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!"

  • @Theorockz2

WROOONG! No war can be justified.

  • @ManMischi

not really. WWI? NO. Vietnam? NO. Korea? NO. Gulf Wars? NO. English, Spanish and American Civil Wars? NO. It CAN be, but so far only one war has been.

  • @Theorockz2 - Oh yes the Korean war was certainly not justified. Afterall we did deprive the people of South Korea from living under the freedom-loving North Korean government.

  • @TheWraith42 lol Great one.

  • wow nice...killing innocent people with superior weapns...how "noble".

  • @Megatravian - I'm sooo sure that if you were fighting an insurgency that's indistinguishable from civilians you could do so without incurring any loss of civilian life.

  • @Megatravian not really. they had weapons too, its not like they just saw some kids on a beach and started blasting.

  • greatest movie of all times

  • This scene is EPIC but this war was so fuckin' dirty! Maybe even dirtier than the actual Afghanistan war! US slaughtered innocents 'cause VCs used to hide among them. VCs caused the slaughter of innocents 'cause they used them as human shields. War is futile

  • Never before have the horrors and futility of war been made to look so beautiful.

  • papa sheen ftw

  • @projectmayhem94

He was drinking Tiger Blood when he made that film, and accidentally gave some to Charlie in his milk bottle. The rest is history - oh, and "WINNING!!"

  • vietnam has kicked the americans ass

  • @HubertWolfen

  • One of my favorite movies!!

  • Man, after one year and a half filming and editing this thing and being sure of having made a masterpiece, Coppola must've been pissed like hell after loosing at the shitty oscars.

  • get some!

  • As Seen On:

    منتديات تونيزيـا سات

    WTF?!

  • wow, american bitches and morons.... Say me... Who won this war?

Poor, but proud people of Vietnam :)

  • @svilen888 It seems to me that the point of this movie went RIGHT over your head

  • @svilen888

    Capitalism won :)

  • @svilen888 and murderers.

  • Yeah guys kill as much civilians from 3rd world country as you can with superior weapons and lose war, FUCK YEAH AMERICA

  • @nieklikajtu: What were those civilians doing running around with AKs and .50 cals on the bridge?

  • @nighthawk006phoenix

    Defending their homeland?

  • @nieklikajtu

    Defending a dictatorship?

  • @LibertyRealm I won't say so. There's a little difference, when you go to war and kill occupants because they burnt your village, and going to burn villages with napalm because someone told you to go there and kill them. Because they need democracy and peace so fucking much.

Imagine if nazis will burn your hometown and kill your mom, and they'll tell everyone " hey we must help these poor americans, they don't have any order and quality in their country"

  • Comment removed

  • @nieklikajtu Sun Tzu, man. Sun Tzu.

  • this must be, without a doubt, the greatest scene in film history.

  • WOW This still gives me the tingles when i watch this :')

  • @VanGoghRothko I agree, but no commie loving news reporter will ever let the truth be known. Remember, after the VC's biggest loss during the Tet Offensive, Walter Kronkite LIED and grossly misled the US pubic in a manner that is no better than treason. We won the war, thanks to Nixon and Linebacker II.

  • This scene is perfect. BURN THIS CONGS!

  • CAVALRY CHARGE!

  • Великий "героизм"- расстрелять безоружную деревню... dirty sheet america

  • fuck wagner

  • RUN CHARLIE!!!!

  • 01:13 ---> Shall we dance ? ahahahahah  !!!

  • The Yanks copped a stunning defeat in Vietnam. All those weapons high technology military know how and their gung ho cowboy attitude. Really Vietnamese people defeated them. No army can win if they go up against an angry population that wants them out and prepared to fight. Interesting they played Wagner, one reason the Nazi Germans lost in Russia in the 1940s. Like the Vietnamese people the Russian population along with the army faught the German army. Hitler suffered a heavy defeat too.

  • @rohanmarkjay Also like in russia, the invading army underestimated the climate/landscapes in which they'd be fighting on.

  • @rohanmarkjay They actually nearly won and brought both VC and Northern Vietnam on its knees, the army lost to homeland public opinion and politicians decided to withdraw. Sorry, no paralel to WWII or Napoleon.

  • @RimmerTube Really? History states they got their butts kicked and were driven out of Vietnam. Your embassy had to be airlifted out of hanoi. Many of your 2 million dollor army helicopters were unceremoniously dumped out the side of the US aircraft carriers as they were withdrawing for the last time with their tail between their legs from Nam. Independent journalists have stated US troops weren't prepared or trained properly for the tough jungle warfare conditions.

  • @rohanmarkjay Silly, I am not an US citizen, neither you strong in history. I have to credit the unprecedented US performance, the skyhigh casualty ratios speak for themselves, both VC and NVA butchered. Even Tet was such a disaster to VC organization. The fall of Saigon happened two years after complete withdrawal, the refugess were civilians and ARVN troops. The ARVN lost their war following cut of overseas funding while the North retained supply from China and USSR.

  • @RimmerTube Plus don't forget the Vietnam population was totally against the US military buildup inside their country. The guerillas it was their backyard they knew jungle warfare well. You are typical of another misinformed American who would rather believe the triumphalist propaganda than the facts as stated by independent journalists. Americans copped a massive defeat. For fucks sake give credit and respect to the Vietnamese fighters who were far more better trained than your overrated army.

  • @RimmerTube Your yankee army lost in Vietnaam Booooooooy! You got your buts handed to your real good fuck head. Oh wait your from the Czech republic. So what are you doing supporting a total defeat by the US military in Nam. Your pathetic army lost fuck head . Accept it dickhead or fuck off!

  • @rohanmarkjay Well, you should better do your homeworks next time instead of posting funny ideas on the internet :D No matter what we like or not about US involvement in Viet Nam, their way of life or whatsoever, the facts are unequivocal.

  • I love how all the famous actors of the era were in this movie, but for only a few moments. The pilot was also the DI from Full Metal Jacket.

  • best scene ever

  • HD is my ASS!

  • @gergely007

scene is cutted from original blu-ray release, lower quality is because youtube encoding

  • they actually borrowed helicopters from the army, sick!

  • My Dad told me one of the reasons the Vietnam war was so difficult is that it was many times so difficult to actually recognise who was the enemy (because friend & foe looked so alike!)

  • I should be disgusted by all that free violence, that horrible massacre. I REALLY should. But there is too much epicness in this scene to make me feel that way

  • it's pretty cool that BFBC2 vietnam and black ops is inspiried on this movie a contract in black ops is named "Smells like.... Victory" And you're supposed to call in 5 napalm strikes, BFBC2 vietnam Ride of the Valkyrie (Get 50 kills with the Huey)

  • @Brickstudios12 On BFBC2 you have the Ride Of the valkyrie on radio with the Huey or the american tank.

  • i could watch this all day long!

  • A epic scene!

  • Fuck this scene was great!

  • RUN CHARLIE!

  • What is great about this scene is it ALL REAL. Pre hi tech Special effects Computer generation. The costs to do today would be off the charts.
