actually that is ariel's original voice actor from the fist movie,jodi benson.all they changed was the animation.you can see that its her voice actor in the credits.

The style may look different because ariel isn't 16 in this movie. Remember, she's at least 10/11 years old in this movie.

It may also look different because there's significant shading going on in this movie. If you watch the first Little Mermaid most of the movie is in flat colour since it's hard to do consistent shading when colouring by hand. If you read the credits you'll see that they used ToonBoom to colour the movie.

I know this is three months late but I figured I may as well explain: here in my town, & I dunno if it was anywhere else, but Radio Disney did an early screening before the dvd came out, and my boss at work (who used to be a screenwriter in LA but had to move to NJ because of family issues) got me a few tickets. Me, my mom, my best friend, and a little girl I met at Build-a-Bear along with her family went and they did costume contests and stuff before the movie. So we saw it before it came out.
