These guys are huge... how tall are they.

I got three 11" biggies and just got eight new babies yesterday.

As of 11 Nov 2009, they are about 4"+ body only excluding fins. : )

They were captured as juveniles during the winter 2006/2007. I.e. 3-3,5 years old.

Yes, the babies are kept on their own in a 150l tank.

Those Altums are just fantastic, waiting on a shipment of 20 arrive real soon.

Omg, they sure has grown a whole lot, did you lose any along the way?

I didn't lose any of the 10 altums, fortunately. : )

Lost all of the 18 in 2007 though, when I first tried keeping them. I tried twice that season with 9 altums each and all got wiped out by the dreaded fins rotting away and body slime problem.

I don't think anyone has figured it out for sure.  There are too many factors that could lead to these problems.
