  • This is "Food Porn" I love it... another excellent posting

  • @Damoskinos

    Great comment!

Food porn sounds good to me :)

Have I seen you on the TV recently? I recognize your photo; you have been doing some TV ads for the phones :))

    Thanks for dropping in!

  • Thank you for replying to my comment :) I made the pie and it was deeelicious! I was worried about the meat as it was frozen pre-cubed beef that needed to be used up, and I thought it might be tough and chewy, but because I let it simmer for 2 and a half hours it melted in the mouth and was very tasty :) Thank you so much! x

  • @retrodancingbee

It's very nice to know you enjoyed it and glad it all worked out for you.

Thanks for coming back to me :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I have been asked to make a pie for dinner tonight, and I am definitely going to make this now! Your videos are so easy to follow, even easier because i'm also from England and can get all the ingredients :) Also, thank you for telling us which Gas Mark to use, as most recipe videos don't tend to tell me and I get confused! Thanks again :) x

  • @retrodancingbee

That’s a lovely comment and I am glad you have chosen to try my recipe :)

I hope it all went well and you all enjoyed!

I try and add as much useful info into my vids as I can.

Thanks for watching, trying the recipe and for the comment :)

  • @elphaba1300

  • @rcreveiwers

That’s a nice comment and very much appreciated!

I agree it would be wonderful if we had smell-a-vision.

It would be even better if you could stick your hand in and try a piece J

  • As promised, I tried this recipe yesterday. One word for it- AMAZING!!! My mom and two of her neighbors raved about it, also!! Only deviation was I used a tablespoon of herbs de provence since I couldn't find the fresh herbs, and I added a lower crust, too. Seems like herbs de provence works well with most meat dishes. Also, I put a tbsp of cornstarch disolved in 3 tbsps of water to thicken the gravy before I put the top crust on. I am definitely going to try your other recipes!!!!

  • @mikeyL67

Well done chef and thanks you for the feedback!

It's really nice to hear everyone enjoyed the food :)

Adding a base to the pie is a good nice touch.

It sounds like you have done a great job with the pie and made it your own.

Keep up the good work and drop in again soon :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Thanks for posting this recipe. I am definitely going to try cooking this, and I'll let you know how it goes!!

  • Ps I think everyone in the UK has one of those orange casserole pots stuffed away somewhere in a cupboard :D I know i do LOL :D

  • @PaganGlade

I think you are right about the Orange pot, there alot of them tucked away and never used.

I think they are great for cooking with.

My only regret is not buying a bigger one!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • My father really enjoys his steak and ale pie, this looks great! I must admit i never put garlic in mine but i may give it ago and see if it makes a difference. Thank you for posting Brother ~PG~

  • @PaganGlade

I love garlic and I think it does add something. Give it a try :)

  • omg tyvm i forgot the mushrooms in the roast im making right now!!!

    YOU SAVED SUPPER!!!!!

  • @pandorachild

I am glad I was of some help. Have a great supper :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I would really like to make this for my family before they get home from work. I'm underage though, so I can't go out and buy the beer. Do you know any other kind of alternatives? Thanks! :)

  • I think i read a jamie oliver's recipe very similar to yours a while back, except that he adds a can of tomato in there.

Is the stew traditionally cooked with tomato?

  • @LEISL1990

If I was making a stew, I would normally use some kind of tomatoes.

If you want to add some tomatoes to the mixture for the ale pie, thats fine!

I am sure many other chefs have made recipes like this one, including Jamie Oliver.

    Thanks for the comms :)

    Original Naked Chef

  • .. Do you actually cook naked?

  • @fudgeeyena

    Thats a good question :))

  • @fudgeeyena You see him wearing trousers when he pops it in the oven :o

  • Gosh it looks so good! And your accent is just the best! "Buttah" = butter

  • @oekakinin

I am glad you like my accent!

Thanks for dropping in. I made a duck dish the other day. It might take me a while though before I get the time to edit and release the vid :)

    Original Naked Chef

  • @OriginalNakedChef I'm so excited! I'll be waiting for that video! : ] No rush. I really appreciate you remembering!

  • @oekakinin

Dont be too exited incase its not to your liking. It did taste good though :)

    Why would I not remember?

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @charlesbukowski75

    Nice one!

Thanks for trying the recipe and hope you enjoy :)

  • great recipe, never thought to use beer, is that traditional?

  • @kumquatsta

    Hi Kumquatsta,

I think these kinds of pies are often served in pubs. I think in Ireland Guinness stout is often used, and ales and beers are alternatives to Guinness.

  • Are you a chef by trade or do you just cook as a hobby? Your recipes are awesome -- this pie looks amazing. Thanks again.

  • @fezan84

    Hi Fezan,

Not by trade. I do however cook everyday and enjoy making tasty dishes. Its nice to know that you enjoy my recipes. If you make the pie, I hope you enjoy!

  • this is a torture, just looking but not able to eat. :)

    Fantastic recipe again, thank you.

  • @sarelle500gr

Wouldn’t be nice if you could just put your spoon into the pot and take some out :)

    Thanks for watching always appreciated!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • did u really just eat that pie with mash potatoes? lol hahahah u r funny. wasn't there spuds in the pie itself? i d just serve this with peas. its just my opinion. u must of been really hungry lol. keep up the good work.

can i ask what u do for a living? and do u think you ll ever show your face on youtube 1day?

    peace!

  • @boppzz

    Hi boppzz,

I certainly did eat that mash with the pie. I know there were spuds in the pie, I just like to have mash with my pie. I am usually very hungry by the time I am serving the food as this is usually my first meal of the day. One day I may show my face.

    Peace to you too.

    Original Naked Chef

  • @newbie8000

    Hi newbie800,

Thanks for dropping in and I hope you enjoy your pie :)

Appreciate for watching & the comms

Hope to hear from you again soon!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • That is yummy I love steak and ale pie and I did make that for me and my mother here in the US and she loved it.

  • @Englishteapot

I reckon that you’re a good cook on the quiet :) You have obviously made some nice dishes. As always nice to hear from you.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef I'm a good cook but not as good as my mother and I did make some nice dishes. When I made the steak pie for me and my mother she loved it and I did as well but I used a packaged gravy mix then the veggies and beef and then the pie crust. I didn't have ale at the time so I had to make it without it, it's also nice to always here from you as well :)

  • @Englishteapot

Mum knows best! Your pie sounds great, keep up the good work :)

  • @OriginalNakedChef Yes mum knows best, thanks I'm glad you think my pie sounds great and I love to serve it with mash potatoes and peas. Me and my mother the two Anglo-Americans like our meat and potatoes.

  • just my humble opinion, no pontificating intended !!

  • @westislandkev

Its nice to hear your opinions. Your always welcome :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • oxo cubes very bad....if you must use instant, there are a few brands that are a step up, not like homemade but better than oxo, i would suggest trying them. One I use all the time is Better Than Bouillon concentrated paste food bases, again not perfect but better for you than Oxo. Check out at superiortouch website.

  • @westislandkev

I have never used "better than Bouillon concentrated paste" for this recipe, but I am sure it’s a good/better alternative. I am not sure how easy it is to buy for most viewers though.

I will make the effort to buy some and try it out :)

Thanks for the tips and I am sure everyone including myself appreciates it.

  • Hey, I actually was able to buy that beer in Ontario on a day-trip a couple years back, it was quite good. Looks very good, real homemade comfort food.

  • @westislandkev

    Hi westislandkev,

I thought with the colder weather approaching some comfort food would go down well. It’s a great beer I agree, although there are so many other good beers and ales around these days.

    Thanks again.

    Original Naked Chef

    OriginalNakedChef

  • That looks great. Why do you say not to use lagers?

  • @Barnekkid

I find ales and beers give a much nicer flavour to the pie than lager.

Personally I am not so keen on most lagers!

    That's only my opinion :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • OH BOY!!! This one I'm REALLY looking forward to!!! I didn't think I was hungry when I started watching this!!!

  • @mommafletch

    Hi mommafletch,

I enjoyed this pie both making the vid and of course the eating :)

If you do try it out, let me know how it goes!

Nice to hear from you OriginalNakedChef

  • Love it :D

  • @Bradderzab

    Appreciate the comms:)
