  • How could you dislike this?

  • some intonation problems and wrong notes, needs a little more blend. some voices r sticking out. it should come with maturity.

  • really makes you think of october. whiteacre did a great job with this composition

  • one of my school's bands got strait 1's on this peice

you guy's sound good (a few missed notes at most) keep it up^^

  • I like the way the band went all out on the massive crescendos.....all the other bands on youtube seem to hold back. overall...pretty impressive, although i think a university band should have a better balance and more powerful low brass.

  • I have played this and other eric whitacre selections such as Sleep, Water Night, and Cloud Burst, and let me just say that his was some of the most complicated music i have ever played. Each part is so exposed that there is no faking and the intonation is insane! I LOVE Eric Whitacres genius!

  • my fav phrase at 6:03

  • this is really beautiful but intense i should tell my band director 2 let us play this!!!

  • it's a much more difficult piece than it sounds.

  • KEY SIGNATURE AT 1:26! JESUS

  • My bad, 1:24, sounds like a clarinet maybe.

  • what is the name of the University?

  • Why don't you just click in "more info" and look at the tags

  • amen to that but that would not be the case in the low brss if i was playing

  • i play french horn rite now in high school. and were playing this but the hoorns didnt soud the best

  • its a great song and a nice job but that particular recording it really sounded like a high school band as oppose to a professional recording. but thats only when they mech together which unfortiently is alot but the solos were great

  • the trill that the clarinets have, wen there is the euphoniom solo, seemed a bit forced it wuld hav been really gud if they didnt force out the G to Bflat trill

    apart from that gud performance

  • great song. but the high woodwinds (1st clarinets and oboe) stuck out way too much.

  • I would kill for that oboe solo.

  • My HS band played this last year, I play the flute, and I played the oboe solo because we don't have an oboe player. I got a compliment at a festival for playing it well :D

This is an okay version, but there are a lot of mistakes...kudos though guys!

  • I played it in this years IMEA for regionals. It was beautiful.

  • The song was pretty good, but I swear the low brass section got away with a LOT of mistakes.

  • yeah i heard that too

  • This owns... wow

Our Marching Band is playing this and we are lacking i little punch... louder woodwinds...

    *sigh*

I love the impact at 3:17 and those cresendos & decrecendos

    I'm speechless

  • is it a missed note or mistake at 1:05. Regardless it is still a beautiful composition but i just want to know if anyone else hear that

  • It's a mistake. The very note before it is supposed to be dissonant, so they couldn't have picked a worse time to mess up. Their woodwinds sound a bit rough in that section, with a few more missed notes, but the brass sound good overall. (Big surprise, right?)

  • This song is great my band is playing this this year. I LOVE IT !!!!

  • our school's orchestra is playing this song right now. this is an awesome recording and song =).

  • this performance is very good, the euphonium solo is always my favorite part in every version i've heard

my high school wind symphony played this song last year. this year we were selected to go to the midwest international concert band with 3 other high school bands worldwide. eric whitacre actually wrote and commissioned a song for us.

roxbury high school wind symphony, look us up :D

  • My Cousin is your high school band Director: Todd Nichols

Tell him that Brandon Nichols says Hi

  • he used to be the director of the school im in

  • I'm Italian and I've played this song whit a wind orchestra.... that's so amazing.... I played the oboe, and I did all this solos.... this oboe is quite good in my opinion

  • this is so amazing! ^^

  • wonderful oboe, and i know because i play oboe.

  • My band is playing this song

Probably the most moving one we've ever played.

  • What a fantastic oboe player

  • My band got to play this song....it was the best song i have ever heard..

  • this is great!

  • this a nice song played by a very excellent band

  • I like this song very much. who is the composer? and is that an oboe doing the solos?

  • Eric Whitacre is the composer. And yes, that's an oboe. She's quite good in my opinion.

  • it is an oboe at the beginning but then its a Euphonium solo then there is another oboe solo

  • beautiful... just some intonation problems and its a little harsh, killed the mood in some areas. might just be the recording device though lol

  • nice job i thought the song was a little rushed and the euphonium solo was also rushed.

  • nice job.
