I'm really impressed with the cloth and I love how fluid you the motion capture of the dance is. The only thing that really bugs me as someone who belly dances myself is that her hands look clunky compared to the smoothness of the hip movements. :)
Yes, I was noticing that. This dancer has the most fluid computer animated hip movements I've seen and I have a whole playlist of animated belly dancers. Most people don't realize how important the hand and arm movements are in belly dance.
Oh, sorry for the question in my previous comment. That was stupid of me not to read the info before posting a comment. Anyway, about the costume, I was just curious about how you did it.
Wow! I love the way the costume (the fringes and the skirt) moves with the dancer. I'm also thinking of doing a 3D animation of bellydancing for my final project in school. What program did you use for the motion capture?
The hands are all wrong. The fingers are never flat like that. She should look like she has zills in her hands or something. They kind of look like man hands..haha
However I imagine that doing this kind of thing is difficult and from the other reviews it's greatwork considering the technology involved. Sounds like it took a lot of time to accomplish..:)
Imzadi actually danced with the sword on her head, and they captured the motion. Took about 100 minutes to do the recording of 10 dances with a few takes. Then it took a few days to clean up. Then it took a month to get the carpet and room and cloth to look right. The motion capture was the easy part.
Not Bad. The world of computer animation and motion capture is an interest of mine, but it's complications often discourage me.

Looks really good! Only thing that seems a little off is the hands - the fingers don't quite flow with the rest of the arm movements.

That was really good, the movement in the costume and the feet made it look very realistic. I loved it. :)

So impressive, especially the natural-looking costume movement. 5 stars

Strewth. The cloth must have been a nightmare - is the sword the original size and shape?

Wow, interesting! I don't think I have ever seen bellydance mocapped. I've seen some attempts at animating it and it's hard to do!
