a neat technique that i use to drip the excess coating off, is hold the cake pop in one hand and tap that wrist with your other hand. and that way the ball wont fall off the stick
Awesome Video ( i have the same bowls lol!) i also pressed some of the cake mixture in a cookie sheet, let it cool and made cut outs using cookie cutters of flowers and butterflies for spring, Hearts for Valentines day and shamrocks for st.patricks day! then decorated them usign teh same method.
Hi! Thanks so much. I was having trouble getting my egg shaped balls to roll into the melts...little did I know, I should put the cake balls into the freezer first. LOL. Wish me luck EARLY tomorrow morning. hahaha.
hey i love how yours look, how come you didnt make a video of you making the cupcake pops? i think thats tghe most important part and how you get its smootness, can you please make a video on how you made them, thanks.
omg!! thanks for the idea, nvmnd how u look this totally helped! I'm doing a sports theme for my sons 3rd bday and i am going to do basketball, baseball, and soccer balls using your ideas!! thanks
lol you and your hubby are so cute and funny together, I myself also like other women have just heard about these today, but I hope to make them for my neices birthday, wish me luck.lol
Cute video! Tip on making cake pops, freeze them and then dip them. They crack if you put them back in the freezer after coating sometimes. I know, been making them for 4 years. Have fun, your a very cute couple.
I do put them in the freezer but only for about 1 minute. I find if they are frozen or too cold, the chocolate hardens too fast and I don't get the smooth finish I want. There is also the chance they will crack even if not putting them back in the freezer due to the expansion when the cake defrosts inside the coating.
Awesome! I am trying to make these but am not having much luck getting it as smooth. My melts (Wilton) are much thicker...what brand of melts do you use? Thanks for the tutorial and I think it's cute that your hubby helped out :)
I hate Wilton and actually use a no name brand candy melt. They are perfect and cheap. If you are using Wilton, add a bit of vegetable shortening a spoonful at a time until you get the consistency you want.
No name brand? Where do you buy them? Can you send me a picture of the package so I can ask my family in the States to find some for me...I'm so desperate to make these and all my past attempts have not even come close to your perfect ones!!
@sadpineapple i made some last night... and you are right... no matter what you do to the wilton's candy melts... it does not get smooth enough... i added a lot of v. oil and it was still to stiff... thank you for putting the vid up... it was very informational...

The brand I use is my local craft stores brand, so only available here. But, if your melts are a little thick, try adding vegetable shortening by the spoonful until you bhave the consistency you want. It works great!

do you add any thing to the cake before you pop them on the sticks

Yes, when you crumble the cake, add frosting by the spoonful until it holds together when rolled. :)
