@Blackboxfanatic Actualy afi didn't sell out, they write, and produce their own stuff, they just get a new studio to do it in, and crash love is because Davey did an electranica band, and wanted somehting fresh. and AFI is no longer with interscope they didn't resign with them.
i love afi and have for a long time...but i must admit their new stuff isnt as great as the old stuff.. black sails has got to be one of the best albums in my opnion but the new one...EEEP not so fab!

@helloieatchicken yea thats what i heard too but it was a different story when i met him, but adam is honestly one of the soundest guys I've met he stayed out with us even after davey left just talking to us as if he had known everyone of us personally calling people by first names and such.
AFI did more than change their sound a little. In addition to going completely pop, they signed to a big label, cleaned up their sound to the point where it sounds manufactured, and refuse to play anywhere that doesn't stand/sit less than 5000 people (at a ridiculous ticket price). If they just changed their sound, they wouldn't be sellouts. But they contribute to the business end of music.

AFI did more than change their sound a little. In addition to going completely pop, they signed to a big label, cleaned up their sound to the point where it sounds manufactured, and refuse to play anywhere that doesn't stand/sit less than 5000 people (at a ridiculous ticket price). If they just changed their sound, they wouldn't be sellouts. But they contribute to the business end of music.

Yes... they fucking suck now. BUT!!! They are still the same people, whatever... Davey used to be fucked before they went mainstream, he put on makeup and shit. I think davey used to be a little suicidal and hated life before they went mainstream, but now that he's in his 30s you have a different view in life and you don't want to start singing about horror and death anymore... but I agree BSITS and SYMOYE and AOD = the best fucking 3 album trio... AFI now is not emo shit, and they play plenty of their songs from their first record.
I think if Davey thought his throat was getting killed from howling all the time, and Jade wanted to play something other than powerchords, they should be allowed to change for their happiness, not ours.

@Whatpressure having been a fan of theirs since the 90's and not able to stand them now i can honestly tell you it has nothing to do with them changing how they sound for their fans, but we didn't want them to go emo. and yes they did go emo. davey wasn't ruining his voice with this music he screams all screamo gayness now. horrible. and i haven't heard them play any old songs except as a finale to any shows since they released du since they have enough emo for a full set.

Why shovel out dollars to a band that doesn't make an effort to make music you'll enjoy?
Then again, we should support bands making changes to give us something new as long as they're not simply trying to cash in on what's popular at the moment.
