  • Nice truck man :D

  • @PJC1995 thanks!

  • go to 1:40

  • That's nice

  • Well if you search 71 GMC cummins (its a teal truck) the guy took at dodge frame and dumped a 71 body on it. Would that route be easier considering the whole drive train and engine are already hooked up opposed to fitting a cummins drivetrain and all that up in a chevy body and frame

  • @PrimitiveStrikeForce

Sure if you could find something with the same wheelbase. The front axle isnt as desirable as the chevy one though I believe with the vacuum disconnect stuff on it and maybe ball joints. Adapting all of the other stuff like an intercooler will still have to be done.

If dodge made a crew cab I would have just got one of those to start off with.

  • @Jishory dodge did make 1st gen crew cabs look them up as 1st gen cummins crew cab

  • @cumminsbayou Well shit, where were you a year ago?

  • @Jishory sorry they are kinda rare tho

  • how hard was the swap? did u have to make the engine mounts ur self?

  • @penguingt Swap was pretty much the most challenging thing I have done automotive wise. Just because shit wont bolt up and where the truck and drivetrain interface shit has to be fabricated or digging through the back at napa finding shit like a radiator hose that will work. Engine mounts i got lazy and bought Tennessee diesel conversions engine mounts.

Was it worth it? Yes, now that its done. Will I do another one of these? I fucking hope not, lol.

  • Thats awesome, so you didnt have to modify the firewall? Im looking into what I need to do this to my 83 suburban... I wonder how the 6bt works with the 4l80e chevy trans

  • @chevydriver207

Firewall is moved back a couple inches, as far back as it would go before messing with the a/c vents under the dash, it still barely clears a slim electric fan in the front. People use the 6bts with 4l80s, something has to give though if you are running a hopped up engine with a stock transmission.

  • That's badass. I have a mint '78 gmc c35 crew cab that needs this BAD.

  • Thanks a lot man. It was a lot of work.

Engine is pretty much right where the firewall would be, I used the TDC motor mounts. Had to move the holes back for the shifters, but they are still in a comfortable spot, not too far back. Had to shorten rear and lengthen front driveshafts, 4x4 does work, the np205 is twinsticked with an off road design kit they made custom for me (first nv5600/np205 for them). I estimate I get high teens, truck has 4.10's, cruises pretty good, kind of high for DDing.

  • That's clean man! I've been looking at doing a 6bt swap in an 85 burb. What kind of modifications did you have to do to get the transmission to fit your body. Driveshafts, etc?

Does the 4x4 work? I was looking at doing an NV5600 as well, do you get decent MPG's without towing?

I applaud you though, job well done
