  • Yes, it is real. It is a remote controlled machine drilling into a vacumm filled pipe at the bottom of the ocean, making a tiny milimeter-wide line in the pipe.

    The crab walks past and is pulled into the crack. The reason is because of the incredible pressure at the bottom of the ocean -- the water flowing into the crack is pushing in with several tons worth of pressure, well above what the crab's bones need to be liquified.
