the 2.0 motor is 6 cylinder with 143HP the other 2 is 4 cylinder.

The 318is they have 2 motors until 95 M42B18 after 95 M44B19 both 140HP the 318i has 118 HP

318is 4 cyl 140hp and 318i 4 cyl 118 hp, 2.0 6 cyl 150 hp, 318is and 320i almost the same performance, "almost" , 318is is more economical. i don't know, for me the 318is which has the m42b18 or m44b19 engine is better, its more reliable and its one of the best engines bmw ever made. besides you can find online alot of DIY for these engines.

because the 318is is chain driven engine

1.8is are the best 4cyl. engines in vehicle history. 16 years old engine with (also) 5000 000 km life limit and always 140hp it's great ! 180Nm and v-max 225km/h ... 0-100 -8.7sec/1280kg great results... For ever BMW... P.S I wanna buy 3.0 diesel and put it to my e36 ;) greetings !

If you service it reguarly, and make sure the oil coolent and all other engine fluids are top notch, you should not have a problem, just replace component's that start to wear over long periods of time, like engine belt's and she should run like new!

So far i have owned mine for a year, not a problem! :)

Fuel consumption is amazing! it has a 68 Liter tank!

and dose around 600+ Kilometers per tank!

It's an amazing car! quick! and handles like a house fly! :)
