So, draining the transaxle is part of changing the transmission fluid right? it's not a different type of fluid? these videos are very difficult to find the right order...
so why the hell are "transaxle" fluid changes like 5 times as much as a regular oil change when you do exactly the same thing: unscrew the bottom to drain. plug it back up, refill with fluid...?!?!? that's the stupidest thing i've heard of for such an easy task....
@kurojin97 because most cars require more transaxle fluid than oil. It costs me 40 dollars just to buy the fluid from an auto parts store, compared to finding specials for 5 qts of oil for like 13.99.
@Oppland29 Dude no one wear gloves when they do automotive repair. That's overboard as fuck. Who wants to go through life worrying about every little thing like that. Just about everything in this world including the air is carcinogenic. Just wash your hands afterwards and you'll be just great.
@gayfarmerboy Actually if your changing fluids you can save alot - and I mean alot of time cleaning up from an oil change if you wear gloves. I used to just do without, but once I started, it makes it way too simple to just take an extra 5 seconds and put them on. Think fingernails etc. Then again, that is with diesel trucks who's engine oil is much different from a cars after use. Just the same, just saying, give it a try, in my experience it makes working a lot simpler for trucks.
@eightycc You're defiantely right. I'm just arrogant. Instinct will override intelligence everytime if you don't give a shit. Haha. I know It really only does take 5 seconds and saves that horrible hand washing with fruity flavored grit... stuff. But just the whole "feel" of gloves sucks on the flipside. It's like when I do construction out in the cold. I really want to wear gloves but I can't use the hand tools and do the things I need to with gloves. Need to have feeling in my finger tips.
bought my car used.5 speed 2003 ex honda element with 130k miles. previous owner never changed tranny fluid. i heard its bad to change it or flush it. is that true?because after the crud is flushed out, then your trans might start to slip or break.
The sad thing here is that no one answers questions posted in this video. I think your best bet is to post the link to this video and your question on a forum where it will be answered. :-D
my car says it needs dexeron 3 i cant find it online at auto zone or any thing if its out there help me find it or let me know if there is anything better or the same

the transaxle fluid has to be change with the transmission fluid??? or is a whole separate issue??? if do so how i refill the fluid back???
jarmando1978 3 years ago
the transaxle is almost the same as a transmission but the difference is that it has the diferential in it.
the transmission has a diferential apart.
transaxles are for front wheel drive cars
