Had my first pheumothorax about 5 months ago. It is something that I pray will never happen again! Not because it was a very painful thing, but rather because the idea of having that tube sticking out of my chest for almost a week just about killed me lol. I get some strange pains in the area still but cant be sure if it is because of it or if it is just in my head. I hope it is the latter.
u r right... anything penetrating should penetrate the parietal pleura first, but it may also penetrate the visceral pleura and the alveoli bringing air from alveoli to the pleural space.
My lung spontaneously collapsed 100% for no reason, was not reinflating even with chest tubes, 2 and a half weeks in the hospital finally inflated and then collapsed again a few weeks later, had V.A.T.S and then a thoracotomy done, still have chronic pain to this day from the ordeal
