  • You know, I'm not trying to be rude or sound like a bitch, which I'm not! But now that this is on youtube it's not that rare now!!

  • Donovan did NOT use page/ jpj

  • Hold them ,LULU.this old boy needs the hands, cup up.

  • The female "Elvis".

  • How do I know it's "Led Lulu"? First of all,I have had several copies of the produced by John Paul Jones soundtrack on vinyl. Jimmy Page was Lulu's session guitarist from "Shout" on. John Paul Jones, John Bonham , and Jimmy Page did dozens of sessions together, including "Led Donovan" and "Led Herman's Hermits". Another "To Zep With Love" connection...the annoying kid with the sunglasses in the movie is Michael Des Barres signed to Zep's Swan Song label in 1976 with his band Detective!!!

  • cute then-gorgeous now-oh yeah !

  • man what a singer, she was INCREDIBLE

  • There are other more colorful and better quality videos of her doing this, but this is the best performance. Wow.

  • You have got to have kept me going with this Lulu Love it,

  • Love You, M M M L. Keep up the great work.......Sir David

  • THANKS FOR THIS CLIP! GREAT CLASSIC! ONLY ONE LULU!

  • PRECIOSA CANCION.......

Para mi madre.... que fue profesora.....

    Te amaré por siempre

  • Believe it or not, this is Lulu jamming with Led Zeppelin! Produced by John Paul Jones with Jimmy Page on guitar!

  • @bartlettohio really, how do you know that?

  • If you can see past the suboptimal audio and video of this recording, what you will discover is that this performance is a tremendously heartfelt and touching rendition. This is in many ways a sad song and you can feel Lulu's passion as she embraces each word.

  • Thanks Kris Renee Murphy: What a great Version!!!

  • I love the way she sings. I feel in love with her voice looking @ the movie! Too bad, she wasn't included in the british invasion!

  • @brandy2133 she was

  • @starrysurprise2 , surprisingly her people didn't jump all the way on that band wagon!

  • I WAS IN FIRST GRADE WHEN THIS WAS MADE, AND I LOVED IT THEN AT ONLY 7 YEARS OLD !

  • This is an Incredible Recording.

This song is great along with Petula Clark "Downtown".

  • Thanks Lulu for all the memories.. You have stood the "Test of Time", in a classic way, from day one. You continue to sing great at about 60 years of age. Not bad at all, lady.

  • @hbiblekjv LuLu (born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, 3 November 1948, Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire. UK. LuLu was 62 years old last november 2010, and she is to the day one year younger than me.

    Thank You. Sir David

  • One word "Fabulous"! To Sir with Love is one of my all time favorite movies!

  • When I was new teacher, word got out about my promotion as to assistant principal. My 6th grade English class, which also was my homeroom conspired with their Reading Teacher to throw me a surprise party. That teacher kept insisting that principal needed me in the office and she played along. On the last day of school, I entered my classroom to the strains of this song — our Reading Teacher, my principal and my wonderful students — none of whom were born when Lulu initially sang this!

  • I have always loved this song. The movie is one of my all time favorites. Would like my children to embrace it as well. Thank you for sharing this version!!!

  • At my high school graduation, i could see all the yellow school buses lined up in the distant parking lot . And i knew i would never get on one again, i was more sad than happy ,because i knew childhood was over .

  • sensational clip. she's really into it. love the movie, love the song. love lulu.

  • Awesome clip, thanks for posting it. She sounds just as good today and actually looks even better.

  • I watched the movie and cried and cried ....I was a little girl and loved it...still one of my favorite movies and song of all time and she is one great singer. Reminds me of Duffy!

  • She sang out her heart to Sidney Poitier and us all. We will NEVER forget it.

  • Her vocal is right on. She was ahead of her time here. full of emotion and grace.

  • love it to death such a sad song ut still love it

  • what show was this on

  • Fantastic film, Fantastic Song and above all ..................What a fantastic singer Lulu is and this is surely her very best song ever, reminds me of my youth back in those innocent days.

  • best song ever love this song

  • This song will endure as long as school endures! It encapsulates the adolescent maturing and the crush all children feel for a teacher or two. A classic song with beautiful lyrics beautifully sung like only the one artist on earth could sing and do it justice - lulu.

  • @CAW0007 How can you tell when only one person can do a song justice? Do you audition people?

Anyway, Lulu is terrific. You should hear Chaka Khan's version too.

  • Chaka Khan's rendition, as good as it is, lacks the pure adolescent schoolgirl deep felt emotional farewell to her teacher and mentor. Her singing is a mature exercise in voice control and musical agility. For this reason her rendition is completely out of harmony with the movie theme. Lulu's smooth rendition and voice quality reflects the inexperience of youth and is uniquely suited to this movie theme. The only way anyone else can be as good is to perfectly mimic Lulu and that's not likely.

  • @CAW0007 Out of harmony with the movie? Where do you get these "rules"? Khan's version is NOT a part of the soundtrack in the first place. Songs have lives beyond their initial settings. They can also be interpreted from various perspectives - different arrangements, musical genres, languages, etc.

Because something was first does not mean it is automatically the best or definitive. I happen to love both versions.

  • @TruthSerum101 They still have to be convincing, however intepreted, and Khan's version isn't given the subject of the song. I haven't heard anyone sing it with the correct emotion, integrity and meaning in keeping with the subject as well as Lulu as already explained. This isn't about "rules" although every genre has rules otherwise there would be no genre - think about it.

This is my last comment. Otherwise I would need to explain genre development, interpretation etc and I haven't time.

  • @CAW0007 Uh......"convincing" is a matter of opinion. My questions were RHETORICAL. You're clearly NOT a musician.but a mere fan - and not the most sophisticated one if you're naive enough to believe that there is only one correct emotion or approach to a song. Yeah, that should be your last comment because you way out of your league here. Hyperbole will end up making you look silly.

  • I was little fella when I watched this movie and heard this song I think it was the first time i ever cried over a movie LOL. I still think it's one of the best songs ever written or performed. Fantastic utterly Fantastic
