@NyulaRaeGlamour Well you don't squat facing the door, but rather side-ways from the door, with your back-half behind the little wall - so you can't really see any genitalia... and plus, it's common courtesy not to look at someone in the stall (similar to how it's customary NOT to look across to the next urinal....)

and - to people who keep saying that it ends up in the sea - it doesn't; it probably goes into a septic tank inside the ferry.

Its normal in China. i went there before, and lot of toilets are designed to be this way. So please do not complain it. Im from Singapore, and i only went there once, last year. Just live with it. The waste that went to the ocean or seas does not pollute it! Its non-toxic, and also provide a kind of food for it.

I don't know why people always think that large bodies of water are the perfect place to wash of dirty things and dump trash/waste. Don't clean your fish in the river. Don't throw your trash/fish guts in the water. Don't shit in the ocean. Keeps the world a healthier place.
