These are really nice guitars. The only thing that really set them apart from the Gibson ES 335 is the cheaper electronic. Nothing that can't be fixed.
Just get a nice BCS vintage 335 harness for 67$ and a set of Gibson classic 57/57+ and you are as close as possible to the real deal.
I hate the fact that to get triple binding or even interesting inlays on a neck you need to spend so much with Gibson...
The Les Paul is weapon of choice for Zep kinda music, but either instrument should do fine. The sheraton II would get you a thicker tone, but you really should try both out for yourself and see!
@WeLovePizza2012 its probably too late but a les paul will always be better than a strat. strats, even expensive ones feel too flimsy, and personally i hate the sound of those single coils, exept for the neck, that one sounds nice. for led zeppelin hope u got the sheration. the consistance you get from humbuckers u cant get from single coils
i really like the guitar however your pinch harmonnics throughout the cliffs of dover jam were intense and really distracted me haha! well done on the playing and beautiful guitar!
NICE guitar work! FINALLY a video of a sheritan without WHITE BOY BLUES coming out of the amp! Got a Nat Sheritan myself. Play it more than my cusom made Randy PArsons Gretsch Copper top Triple JEt. Google it.
I have to say that this is one of the very best guitar reviews I have ever watched on YouTube. You put it through its paces with several types of tunes; VERY well played.
Congratulations. I am subscribing to your channel.
Spelling mistakes in the warranty; poor binding; logos that fall off; and a too-good-to-be-true price are tell-tale signs of a counterfeit (Made-in-China) guitar. You should run the serial number (on the back of the headstock) by Epiphone to ensure that you were not duped into buying an inferior Made-in-China counterfeit Epiphone guitar.
do you happen to know the exact site with the preset cuz i cant find it.. do you use the fender fuse software, if so maybe you could upload it if you have time
This is just the Epi Sherry II (unmodded) straight into a Fender G-Dec 30 (the old one, apparently there is a new one out..). No pedals or any other effects; everything is handled by just the amp.
For the cliffs of dover sound, there is a preset released by EJ himself which is on the gdec website iirc, but a quick google of "eric johnson" and "g-dec" should get you what you need. The only thing I changed on the preset was putting the Gain at 7.9
what settings did you use on the g-dec for Cliffs cuz i got the exact same setup as you do, but i can't seem to get the correct sound out of it... and also, if you remember, for the bluesy songs you're doing...
Thanks for the review. I actually went to Guitar Center this weekend to look at the Sheraton but ended up buying the G-Dec 3 thirty watt amplifier instead. I am very satisfied with the amplifier but I am still interested in the guitar. Oh well maybe next time...
I wasn't really impressed with the tone until you busted out Cliffs of Dover. DAMN, I never thought that guitar could sound like that. That's badass! You're a good player too. Keep it up!
the neck is very strong and a little bit on the wide side. You can get a little vibrato effect in there if you try, but I don't normally do such things with guitar necks :)
thats perfect, thanks, i i have an ibanez archtop like this, but more fragile, and you barely have to put any pressure on the neck to make it go about a quarter step, but my gibson les paul studio is much stronger, i imagine its about the same as this epiphone, same company basically, right?
@coolwhales Hey man I´m deciding on buying this guitar. I play a lot of jazz, blues, rock and a little bit of bossanova. What genre do you recommend is good with this guitar (other than jazz and blues, which you mentioned in the video)?
@rvkfc71 It is a very versatile guitar, and I would say that it covers a broad spectrum of tastes in the blues/rock genres. For jazz it is especially nice, although some may prefer a little bigger body. I find it does the Eric Johnson/Clean Satriani stuff really nice as well.
Thanks sir. This is just what I needed. I am deciding on getting this guitar, and this was very informative. It looks like I am gonna get this guitar.
I have a couple strats, a gibson lp special, dean ML, and some strat copies. By main is a blue fender strat which you can see in my JSX videos. They all sound great through the G-DEC too!
Great playin man ~ what can ya tell me about those delay settings ya got goin when you play Cliffs? Excellent job, without doubt. I'd really like to know a good rule of thumb regarding EJ echo's, if ya get me.
Another reason Im highly prompted to comment is the Rubina version ~ we're cut from similar cloth, friend. You play certain things far better than I do, but I do have some advice for your playing, all wrapped up in one word = "patience"
@supersucker72 its a great guitar just got the same thing same price and its worth it. its not really top heavy but the neck will dive down if you bend over to far or try to pick somthing up it will crash to the ground lol but i just be careful and it works out pretty nice
New, around 350~. You can find them on ebay cheaper though. There's also a 15 watt version, but I can't comment on how comparable it is sound-wise. The GDEC 30 is a tone beast, though!
I play some rock like kings of Leon, guns n roses and maybe some alternative rock like killers, coldplay and that stuff, are the stock pickups in this guitar good for these things?
Think a Les Paul but with an airier clean tone. As for distortion, I find it has a nice crisp tone with distortion ala Satriani's "Always with me, always with you", but anything more distorted than that I would not suggest it (or most semi-hollows) for. As for GnR, I have tried some Sweet Child intro and it sounded nice!
Thanks. From what i read, the nut width is 1.68 in. As for the frets, I'm not really sure. I have kinda medium-sized fingers and the neck is kinda fat - but not in a bad way. Fits like a nice glove I'd say, whereas I'd have some leeway in my upper palm on a strat neck. Hope that helps :>
Epiphone is a subsidiary of Gibson, but Gibson does not make the guitars. This one was made in Korea but set up in the USA (if the sticker is to be believed). You have to really play a few of them to find the "right one". The quality varies widely sometimes, but when you find a good one it's simply the best semi-hollow in this price range ;)
i bought the same model 2 days ago, it's immense. to find out where it's made put the serial code ( located inside top F Hole) into a Epiphone serial Reader on the web. Tells you where and when it was made
very nice- love the fuzzy tone and your interpretation of Monk- now you've only got to figure out how to get the dissonant notes he produced on the piano that were almost always intentional but seemed as though they were mistakes!!
The Sherry doesn't feedback much with a moderate amount of gain (see Cliffs of Dover here). However, this guitar (and most semi-hollows) are not really meant for uber high-gain settings. I suppose you could replace the pickups with quieter ones, but I feel that they're just *perfect* for rockabilly/jazz.
you're very good. I'm thinking of buying a guitar and would like to know how you can learn to play this style (and how many years you need to practive before being able to play solos like you do).
very nice playing and thanks for the review. I'm thinking about picking up one of these Sheratons.

If they made the Fender G-DEC amp in a 60W 2x12 version I probably would have never bought my Peavey JSX - it's just that damn good sounding ;)
I've never tried the Sherry standing up, but it is well balanced sitting down.

REALLY NICE REVIEW
i think matt marshak uses stock sheraton II just like this one, very sweet tone, it should be better when you hear it life and personal eh? :P
But can you tell me EXACTLY:
What kind of frets are suited?
The exact dimension of the nut?
Cause i have verrrrry small fingers
Txn man , and, really nice on the cliffs of dover :)
