bird wings are constantly changing thickness- attitude angle of attack , width (or span) a cord (front to back depth ) also the bird wings rotate forward on an axis of the main spar, as they rise . in order to acomplish all the bird movements this craft would weigh over 800 pounds , give it up only god can make a bird
@rentatrip1 Did they ever say that this would be the only human powered aircraft flown around? this is only a step towards achieving that. they cant copy a bird exactly, thats literally impossible. they have to utilize only what humans can create
you decieve yourself, with your statement , in order to duplicate actual bird flight the span & cord of the wings would need to be constantly altered- and the mechanizm needed to duplicate bird movement would exceed weight limits - theory is one thing actual facts & proof are something different - Please admit to the public that this is pure Folly and a hoax - nice demonstration but flapping wing flight is not attainable with this craft - this is a con- and a lie= BS

@rivengle - the flap up neutralizes the down flap -Visa Versa - thedown flap negates the up flap - seems the Toronto students are spending a great deal of money And time farting around with nonesense and foolish BS- as the wind changes attitude with each "flap" performance is lost NOT GAINED- this FAcT could be mathmatically proven if the students knew physics & entropy - but they are not interested in fact or truth - these boner students waste Daddy's Money - poor little rich kids
@rentatrip1 the flap up does not neutralize the flap down and visa versa. have you ever seen a bird in your life? They do the exact same thing. This ornithopter was designed like a birds wing, to follow the air flow as it flaps up and down. thus, both flap up and down creates forwards propulsion and lift.
@therealcedz your theory and your words seem to go in a different direction than the aircraft... again the ship can not attain flight by flapping its wings because mechanically it can not duplicate bird movements, the craft would need to have wings that constantly changed cord & span during flapping to duplicate bird wings I can tow a pine tree into the air that does not mean it has the ability to "fly" or gain lift Please admit this is a deception and a hoax nice effort but not practical

This aircraft took TIME and MONEY and is only an ATTEMPT. you should go try to make an aircraft that can fly like a bird. ITS FREAKING HARD alright?
