@Lyhraify I don't know if she never has doors on hers, but the FN and CN are made so that you can take the doors off easily without taking apart the cage. :)
@TenaciousBrii I took the FN off their stand so I could use the side bars in place of where the side panels went on the FN. So instead of the side panels, I used the small bars in order to insert the screws. I don't know if this can be done with the new FNs because they are no longer set up with screws. I know a few people who removed the bars with a heavy duty wire cutter. Then you zip tie the whole thing together.
Beautiful cage... Must be fun to clean. :) If you ever wanted to expand it you could probably just buy two add on units and make it even bigger ! Very nice though.

@Capinyx ...pets need human attention thats why there pets , whats the point in having them as pets if you cant give them attention ...ask any one if they think its right to own 21 rats and they will tell you its not fair plus i think your cage is too small for 21 rats ,rats need alot of space at least 1 square foot per rat ...and i understand that most are reascues and they most likely would be dead but dont you think u went i bit over bord ...i think u have a bit of an animal hording problem.

No. She gives them attention, she's an AMAZING rat owner, You can have as many animals that you want if you take care of them right and give them enough room, The cage is big enough for them all. And rats need atleast 2 CUBIC feet each ONLY if they're agressive towards other rats.Rats live with their familys of like 20 in 4 foot deep tunnels in the wild.. so yeah, this cage is HUGE. She saves many lives, so saving lifes are never a bit overboard. Its not hoarding, its saving.

@dede07gee All my rats are rescues. If I didn't take them in, most of them would be dead. So...no, it's not unfair to them. They are happy stable rats in a loving home with lots of buddies.

@MissMagicalMary It's harder to train your rat to urinate in a litter tray but it's not unheard of. You could use plexiglass for the back only, so the rats have a good air flow through the cage.
Wonderful Ok I have a slightly smaller rat and a FN cage and on one of the close ups of your cages, it look like they have a tight square grid screen??? Thats what I need , What did you use? I'm worried my FN 1" vertical gaps are perfect for him to escape, I want to make it secure to start with, ? what did you do ?

@TheCivicguyd16 Kudos to you for rescuing rats. With the CN, it's very easy to not put the sides on. The doors go on with the front of the cage, simply leave out one side and tie wrap it to the other cage. If you have FNs then it's way harder to attach together.
How did you connect them together?? I want to do that for my chinchillas. Did you just take the shorter side out on the connecting side?? How did you keep the 2 cages together though?

This is the best cage and environment for rats I have ever seen! Beautiful, how they interact, they all look so happy! They are free! Aww I wish I could do that to mine..maybe someday! :)
Are they babies? It is not common for a rat to bite. But babies might nip only because they are playing. They are easily taught not to do this though.
To Divagirl810, I have only had 1 rat ever bite me and that's because my "friend" didn't take care of her. She barely ever had a clean cage and wasn't held at all. I got her for 2 months and she was learning but my friend took her back and eventually she died from mites. But I've had 12 rats and none of them ever bite me.

i was told by my vet that they won't neuter or spey rats... id love a boy to go with my girlie sierra (her sister charlie died last month) but i dont want babies!!! are there certain vets that will do it?
why do you get the females spayed as opposed to neutering of the males? i heard that spaying is a more risky and difficult surgical procedure... true?

Your cage is awesome! My cage is about that size. Do you look in the cat section for the toys? I gave my pet rat some toys from the bird isle to chew on. It's funny how much they play. I had no idea. Mine plays with you and runs in circles..she is so cute. We put t-shirts and socks in the cage and she sleeps in them:)

full of rats, but as time went by they disappeared one by one,
and as of now I have only two.
But I just moved into my basement, and there is an empty room next to mine,
so I will be rescuing rats again; only I will have much more
this time, with all the extra room :D

She probably uses litter trays where the rats go to the toilet. Rats can be trained to do this like a cat uses a litter tray. :)

what is the cage made out of? are they like storage shelfs because they have no doors. i really want to make a rat room with a cage such as urs! also what material's do u use for the wiring on the floors of the cage. plz reply in message/email to my profile. also how did u put laters through each wire box?

Those cages are two FNs attached together. There are doors, I took them off for the video.

i envy your setup... i truly do. tell me, it is a difficult procedure to clean it? that looks like such a blast. rats are so fabulous... i have a couple really short vids of my kids if you wanna see.

That cage wasn't too hard to clean. I do daily wipe ups, takes about 15 minutes and each week it gets scrubbed down, takes about 2 hours.

All our females are spayed so they can safely live with the boys.

i was told by my vet that they won't neuter or spey rats... id love a boy to go with my girlie sierra (her sister charlie died last month) but i dont want babies!!! are there certain vets that will do it?

why do you get the females spayed as opposed to neutering of the males? i heard that spaying is a more risky and difficult surgical procedure... true?

Females are prone to developing benign mammary tumours and a spay reduces that from 95% to 5%.

When I get my two rats soon, i'm getting them spayed for my birthday, and I don't get anything for Christmas because of it. It's expennnnsive where I am! xD

@jorats Where do you find someone to spay and neuter rats? I've never done it, just kept the two sets in two different cages.

Your cage is awesome! My cage is about that size. Do you look in the cat section for the toys? I gave my pet rat some toys from the bird isle to chew on. It's funny how much they play. I had no idea. Mine plays with you and runs in circles..she is so cute. We put t-shirts and socks in the cage and she sleeps in them:)

I collected a few things along the years. Mostly the dollar store, some pet stores online too. My sister sews all my hammocks and cubes.

After their out time, they all get their veggies and they love their veggies so all I have to do is say VEGGIES! and they all run home.
